Backlash Sunday

833

It is difficult to overstate the importance of Sunday’s cup final to Motherwell. They have won as many major trophies in the last 65 years as Celtic have won European Cups in the same period. What an opportunity they have.

Sunday might be just another final to you and me, or more importantly, to the Celtic players, but it is a date with destiny for all at Motherwell.

Right now, Celtic players will still be de-escalating emotions from Wednesday night. It is difficult to switch from one emotional peak straight into an equally intense state, but if we do not find our sharpness or thought and body, the Invincible trail will end this weekend.

I don’t think that will happen; there should be a backlash from Celtic. The open wounds from Wednesday will be used as fuel. The players have been slapped about by the hurt of defeat and will want to avoid a repeat on a national cup final. If Motherwell want to win, score a goal, or if they even want to pass the ball, they will have to operate at a level they have only attained for seconds this season.

The stakes are as high for both teams. Let’s hope the matter is decided without controversy.

Have a great and memorable day at Hampden.

  3. Re a Memorial day or even a Memorial few hours, we would need Paul67 on Board, pick a date an appropriate Leader by Paul, chat for an hour or two about absent friends, that’s all it would take,

Even some high profile flouncers might return to join us or Paul might declare a General Amnesty for the good ghuys who have picked up red cards over the years.

  4. Having read everything there was to be read today,I came across David Edgars blog. What is it with these Peepul?.I have to say,he comes across as having a bit of education, but that Hun trait of selective stupidity is right there with him.Going on about the “Board”,he says”Yes they came in and saved us”yes, they saved them from a Billionaire, and a Board with a business plan.He goes on,and this is the bit,”Yes they can show us the books, which is all fine,a good job”.A good job !!!!!!!!!!!!!!.Just what would his idea of “A bad job”be?.

The future gets brighter for us all the time, when this is the thought train of ,as I said,a seemingly intelligent Hun.Not a “Handsome Hun”,never that.

AGreat to read the memories of those whose parents went to the matches with them for so long. Mine were the reverse but nonetheless memorable.

BT: Going to pub is a great idea but wife accompanying me is my worst nightmare!

Only been to one game,1/4/61, and we left at halftime! Something about engagement ring and engraving and shop might shut if we stayed any longer!

Will be in Neeson’s about 1230!

COYBIG!My wife and I booked a 10 day all-inclusive holiday to Marconfort Benidorm Suites Hotel from 19 September to 29th September through Stewart Travel with Thomas Cook.

On arrival at the hotel, the whole ground was ‘occupied’ by various tradesman and reception and visible areas had ladders, cables, paint tins etc everywhere including entrance to the gym which would have needed more energy to enter than you would use when you got there.

We asked reception if there had been an accident and were told rather curtly ‘No. We are renovating’.

We complained immediately as we left our house to be re-decorated in our absence and the painters were following us!

We also asked to speak to the Thomas Cook rep but they had all alighted from the coach 3 hotels earlier and were not available-until the next day.We did not unpack.

The following day the Rep arrived at the allotted time and we registered our complaints as outlined above and requested a transfer. She replied that she would endeavour to do so and as I had already phoned her the previous evening she had already made initial enquiries. I also phoned a rep in Irvine Stewart Travel

We were subsequently offered a room in the Marconfort Essence Hotel but not till the third day and not before 12pm at the earliest.

We moved at that time the next day and had to 70 euros extra for the privilege!

We had ”lost 2 and a half days’ and had pay extra and carry cases between hotels.

I asked two different reps for a complaint form on three separate occasions and was TOLD that it was not necessary as it had been logged on the system electronically.

I have innumerable photographs of the state of the hotel and phone records of calls to reps in Spain and Scotland.

Since these renovations had been going on even before we left Scotland we should have been notified by yourselves or Thomas Cook BEFORE we departed.

I wish to be recompensed for the additional cost of the exchange with respect to hotel surcharge and phone calls to Scotland and the Rep in Spain on mobile phone and inconvenience of living out of suitcases and losing 2 1/2 days of a ten day holiday and I look forward to hearing from you in the very near future.

Don’t know how that extra bit got there but I got a result! £200 or voucher £300!

Always knew being a trade union rep for so long would come in handy!!!!!

  15. Here’s my predicted team for today

  17. Personally I like Kev J’s posts. Although I do not often agree with them I like the fact that he’s posting from the heart. I have no doubt hes Celtic to the core. Its just hes from an era that precedes the PLC. as many are.

He speaks his mind an doesn’t give in to collective blogthink. I also find him amusing but maybe I’ve got a weird sense of humour. I think he brings a different viewpoint and I welcome it. Some say we have lost valuable contributors to the blog, I say Kev J would also be a loss should he decide to flounce. HH

That’s their first offer. May be worth keeping on their case.

Their was a good consumer programme on ITV several weeks back with some good tactics to employ when dealing with these charlatans.

  19. Burnley 78 . Lovely tribute to your mum , Morag . May she rest in peace. Trains cancelled from Ayr to Glasgow, now on busy train with supporters of both teams on board. Looking forward to the game & expecting a reaction after some unjustified criticism, following on from Wednesday. I heard Phil O’Donnells oldest daughter talking about her dad and family yesterday on the radio. She spoke wonderfully, and will watch the game from a pub in Sydney , while her we brother will have a part in the pre match build up. She expects to be very emotional , and no wonder. Enjoy the game. Hard earned on , Celtic 3-1. HH

  20. Happy Cup Final Day…

Hope everyone has a great one…

Will be a tough match though, if we don’t get an early lead.

Yet whether we do it in the First or last Quarter I think we will get a good win.

If I was BR I’d go with the abject tactics and leave the Bus for Motherwell to manoeuvre.

  22. I despise when posters denigrate former players.

It’s actually ignorant, and on different levels too.

None of you know Andy Walker eh ?

    What about Packie Bonner ?

Worth considering dropping the ” group think” too ?

Hope it’s a good game today, the final against aberdeen was a fabulous game. Also hope PSG go on to win the CL – I’d be afraid of what they’d Catarrhs will do if they won’t win : squillionaire toy football has only just begun.

  25. Afternoon

On way into town to meet my mate Ray for a pint or two before heading to Hampden.

I am not overly confident having witnessed too many League Cup final mishaps and catastrophic losses to Motherwell to look on this without trepidation.

I know we should win – we have much better players than they do- but it concerns me that few of our players who are likely to start today are playing better than one year ago. Serious business already this season but today is the most serious yet. Are we treading water or still going forward? Today we will begin to find out
