Backlash Sunday

833

It is difficult to overstate the importance of Sunday’s cup final to Motherwell. They have won as many major trophies in the last 65 years as Celtic have won European Cups in the same period. What an opportunity they have.

Sunday might be just another final to you and me, or more importantly, to the Celtic players, but it is a date with destiny for all at Motherwell.

Right now, Celtic players will still be de-escalating emotions from Wednesday night. It is difficult to switch from one emotional peak straight into an equally intense state, but if we do not find our sharpness or thought and body, the Invincible trail will end this weekend.

I don’t think that will happen; there should be a backlash from Celtic. The open wounds from Wednesday will be used as fuel. The players have been slapped about by the hurt of defeat and will want to avoid a repeat on a national cup final. If Motherwell want to win, score a goal, or if they even want to pass the ball, they will have to operate at a level they have only attained for seconds this season.

The stakes are as high for both teams. Let’s hope the matter is decided without controversy.

Have a great and memorable day at Hampden.

Shocking post from a supposed Celtic man, been slagging Brendan and the players all week, loving it as well, quite sad really.

Been lurking a lot and read a lot – watched the PSG game – a sobering experience – get the range of reactions, but think BR has a plan – if we have any aspirations to compete at that level, you can’ t park the bus, you have to learn how to play, take a few lessons and learn – he will make our academy players so much better – remember Man Ure getting pumped 4 nil by Barca and PSG getting horsed by Barca last year – it happens – keep the faith and hail hail for 2 moro!

You’re a lucky guy. We should all have a stunning wife-and child-wi a white stick and a guide dog.

  17. It’s fantastic that Celtic and Motherwell are recognising Phil O’Donnell, super player.

Said before, my daughter is a good friend of Megan, Phil’s oldest. It was an absolute tragedy and hopefully his family will enjoy tomorrow.

  18. The Lions of Lisbon play went down well at Rutherglen town hall on Thursday. Frank (Lenny Murdoch) Gallagher and the rest of the cast were last seen having a wee post match swally in the Vogue Bar. Hh

Had a wee tear or two listening to Megan on the radio last few days, her wee brother Luke is now 14, he was obviously only 4 when his dad sadly passed away, Megan’s words were it helped when I realised how many people loved my dad….

Celtic will hopefully win the league cup tomorrow but the O’Donnell family will be in my thoughts whether we win or don’t

  20. BMCUWP,

  24. I was at Firhill the day Phil O’Donnell made his debut for Celtic. He scored 2 that day. If Phil had stayed injury free he would have been a superstar. Best box to box player I ever saw. Hh
