Being in a good place

266

It’s so rare it almost feels un-Celtic to look ahead to an important game without a handful of injury concerns.  Callum McGregor missed the kick-off in our visit to Ibrox last month, a game we went into with the prospect of going five points adrift if we’d lost.  The win over Newco at Celtic Park in December was achieved without Cameron Carter-Vickers or Reo Hatate (who made the bench but had not played since October).

And who can forget our first trip to Ibrox this season, which saw then-unfancied Liam Scales get a jersey due to the absence of Carter-Vickers, Nat Phillips, Maik Nawrocki and Stephen Welsh.  We finished that game with a back four of Ralston, Lagerbielke, Scales and Bernabei – still won, in case you’d forgotten.

Brendan Rodgers had clearly whispered in the ear of those who stepped up in the days before these games, inspiring performances that would have surprised their dads.  By contrast, yesterday, the manager told Celtic TV that Saturday’s game “will probably be the best version of the team that I’ve had since I’ve been here”.  Adding, “I think after another good week of work and concentration on the training field, we’ll arrive on Saturday as good a place as we have been all season.”

That’s why you feel a little unease ahead of Saturday, you are in unfamiliar territory.  Football is seldom straightforward, the best two sides in the country will be on the field trying to win, so the risks are clear.

The cunning plan with concessionary ticket….guy number 1 has full ticket goes first, once through ask the steward the time; concessionary guy comes through next. Steward doesn’t notice, we did this in 118 for years as it was a parent and child area. The stewards must have thought that area had fans without watches 😅🤣😂

For those that have season tickets, you’ve paid for your ticket and the money is in Celtic’s account. You can do what you want with your ticket and don’t have to explain to anyone why you were or weren’t at any particular game.

The only exception being anyone trying to profit from their ticket.

I am retired now, i need a hobby, I am a self confessed statto, with a particukar interest in stadiums and desogn builds. and attendances.

Celtic park with hunners of empties is not a good look, especually against the booming physical attendances at EPL AND bUNDESLIGA.

Driving attendnaces up should be a plc kpi.

meanwhile, i spent this morning lifting a grave stone up in the port cemetary. my orange heritage way back to 1860s these jacksons were born.

the port cemetary is full. but has many many unused plots, bought but never anyone interred, that is on muylist.

  16. On seat-gate: I know 2 very long standing season ticket holders who lost very close and special people to them. Neither has attended this season. Grief is powerful. Is there non attendance selfish ?

I didn’t attend the Hearts game at the weekend. Well prior to the split, I had booked a trail run half marathon. I was hoping our game would be on the Sunday, but it wasn’t. So I ran instead and did not regret my decision at all. I don’t need to be excused or apologetic to anyone for that decision. I will be back as usual on Saturday. i’lll probably also have the impertinence to renew for next season.

Question ? No me neither ! (thanks to however it was on CQN that condescended to post that a while back, I love it !) -back to deep lurking now-

I see someone else answered your question about using concession season tickets earlier. The lights system when you insert your ticket at the turnstile alerts the steward to what category of ticket you have. The stewards are instructed to confiscate the ticket if it is being wrongly used. A few seasons ago they had several games when they had a purge on tickets being wrongly used. I gave my son my ticket for Celtic v Rangers 5-0 game but told him to go to the ticket office and pay the balance which he duly did. No problem.

I’d rather concentrate on the guys who make the effort EVERY week to see the Tic than make a big issue out of the percentage who can’t make it for whatever reason ……

    QUESTION ….

We had 5 seats (me two daughters and two grandsons) in the lisbon lion stand .My daughter lost her son / my grandson on delivering him (one of twins) ……..

That had a devastating effect on us …….so much so …..having no will to go to the games my daughters partner took the chance at a time we were weak and tookthem to ibrox to watch the huns (that nearly put me over the edge ) and are now rangers fans ……

I couldn’t give a flying fuck about how much money revenue the board are missing out …….I would be more concerned about how much money the board waste……Mccarthy….etc etc….

Ps Delaneys Dunky got our tickets to do as he pleased when we didn’t go .

My ST is almost always used when I can’t make it. However on occasion it has been unused for a variety of reasons.

I’m abroad for a wedding and I missed the hearts game. I will also miss the huns game. ( My ticket is used on both games )

I enjoy going to Parkhead, i go because I want to be there. If the club imposed a compulsory aspect I would reluctantly tell them to ram it and watch the games in the pub.

As previously stated , tickets are available for virtually every game on Celtic social media. Stop the moaning and put the time and effort into sourcing a ticket.

In my case, the amber (I hesitate to describe it as orange) light came on when the guy in front of me went through.

He was a bit of a bear and looked mental but obviously not of age for a concession ticket.

The steward let him go and challenged me, saying the light has flashed when I showed my ticket. I was able to show him my full price ticket. I suspected that there might have been a supervisor about and the guy decided it was a safer bet to let the nutter go and challenge me.

Can’t say I blamed him so I just showed him my ticket and moved on rather than drawing any attention to him.

I now have a legitimate grey ticket of my own.

A bit ageist to give us old guys a grey ticket, but I am more than happy to put up with it to get a good bit off the cost of my ticket.😂
