Belgians premature

1296

The Belgian league put the cat amongst the waffles yesterday by declaring the Jupiler League over and Bruges champions.  They sorted out their TV and other commercial arrangements and can start next season as soon as it is safe to do so.

There are very few calls to cut seasons short.  Tight leagues, such as in Italy and Spain, would forever  have questions hanging over them, while those assured of winning the title, as in Scotland and England, want to do so on the field, not at a league meeting.  Still, it was nice to see panic among the Null and Voiders, who would rather everyone lost than anyone (Celtic) won.

The Belgians have been pragmatic but premature, football is finished for the season, their champions are assured without controversy and they will accommodate those threatened with relegation.  The rest of Europe still clings to the hope that competition can start behind closed doors in the summer.  It will next month before we know if this is possible, there is no reason to make decisions before then.

My favourite Monkee song was/is ” A little Bit me and a little bit you”…

I play the Juke Box in my local and sometimes play a couple of The Monkees songs.

ANd many other artists of course…

The Blondie Hit song…”DENIS”….was like so many other songs…a cover version of the song by “Randy and The Rainbows” is just one example…I love both versions.

Likewise… Cyndi Lauper and ” Girls just wanna have fun”…is also a cover version…as it was orginially sung by a Guy…and I cant remember his name…but it was really bad. I liked Cyndis

Big Jimmy, re cover songs. I’m sure you’ve heard the Clash’s David Watts. But do you know who wrote and sang it first?

Clue, the same band who first wrote and sang The Pretenders’ Stop Your Sobbing.

    No web search please 😊

  3. As the top record sales listing didn’t start till 1952, the No 1 song

(based on sheet music sales) on my 12th Birthday was a fab

    song by Bing Crosby called,

” Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”!

I shall carry the shame of it to my grave!

    Keep Safe.

  4. See the chief medical officer of Scotland has been caught do as I say not as I do. Thinking I might go to my second home for Easter.

  5. If I were a british subject, Queen were No. 1 on my 12th birthday.

However, here in Ireland, Imagine with John Lennon was No. 1. It knocked The Combine Harvester with Brendan Grace off the top spot but only lasted a week as Bohemian Rhapsody became No. 1 here also.

Ref your comment re Hibs tickets,I also have 3 paid for but not received, plus 1 in hand for for Ibrox.

I wrote to ticket office, but no reply other than my enquiry was logged.

My understanding is the Hibs tickets are held, as no payment taken, plus others I know have none either, the Ibrox ticket I would expect to be refunded, time scale depending upon if Celtic paid up front and require a refund.

Two bits of info from the good oil US of A

The repeal of restriction on toxic dumping, obviously if climate change is not considered a problem then it follows that dumping toxic chemicals must be ok.

Guy I work with tells me his sister works in a lab in CA currently full time testing for Covid, 100% results returning positive, that’s scary

  17. EXCATHEDRA44 on 5TH APRIL 2020 4:05

Yes a decision was made that those who’d purchased their tickets online for Easter Rd weren’t having the tickets sent out because of the current situation which I completely understand. I’m not sure I share your confidence regarding the game at Ibrox.
