Boys in blue turn to Ibrox

661

Its seven months since the Worthington Group, who represent the interests of Craig Whyte, reported Charles Green and Imran Ahmed to the Serious Fraud Office over the ownership of Sevco 5088 Ltd.

Sevco 5088 Ltd bought and paid for irrevocable rights to buy the assets, including Ibrox Stadium and Murray Park, of Rangers Football Club PLC, in liquidation.  Those rights were subsequently assumed by a different company, Sevco Scotland Ltd, now called Rangers Football Club Ltd, who are a football club in the third tier of Scottish football.

The question is, how did Sevco Scotland acquire those rights?

When this question was raised back in April, it was reported that Rangers International PLC instructed Pinsent Masons to investigate the matter, but instead, Pinsents reported on whether Craig Whyte was involved in Sevco Scotland Ltd, a company he claimed no connection with.

The BBC, who broke the story yesterday evening, suggest Police Scotland are investigating if Craig Whyte is still involved with “Rangers”.  Although this would break the terms of Newco Rangers entry into Scottish football, it is not, of course, a crime, nor something the police would concern themselves with.

More importantly, the BBC suggest police want to speak to Charles Green, former chief executive of Rangers International PLC, about a document submitted to Companies House.  The dispute over the ownership of Sevco 5088 Ltd has played out through documents submitted to Companies House, not all of which can be legitimate.

Perhaps the biggest challenge of all to the Newco is that these matters have a history of taking a long time to resolve.  Time is not a commodity a company without bank borrowing or positive cashflow can afford.

If only any of us saw this coming………

I would think that Southampton’s defensive record of losing 5 goals in 11 league games is assisted in no small measure to Victor’s performances shielding the central defenders. He may not be as effective in an attacking sense as he was with us but is probably being asked to do a more defensive, disciplined job by Pochetino.

All games should be moved to 10:00am kick-off to allow Koreans to tune in at 8:00pm.

That would be 7pm, sorry for being pedantic :-)

Vic started off with a good game, but since then, I agree with you he has performed below his best. Now I accept he needs time, indeed at CP he was also better after a period of time.

    However, I shall tell you my concern re Vic, and I said this to a few people some weeks ago;

body language ….I watched the goal celebrations after a few Southampton goals, and Vic didn’t really join in and looked a bit non plussed. Looked like a lost bhoy.

Victor is part of the most exciting Southampton team in recent memory. The fans may not think he has done all that much but they will notice how big a part of that team is when he is not in the side. Wanyama will be a star. The guy has all the attributes to be a huge player. His presence on the field is huge for any team. Most teams and players can be beaten in the tunnel. How many players have you seen visibly shrink when they see their direct opponent? Victor has the ability to do that. The big man is an imposing figure. I’m sure many teams we come up against in both Europe and at home are delighted he has gone South. Wanyama is a future CL winner. In the modern game he has everything a player needs to get to that level. I expect a really top European club to pick him up in the next 2 years.

I’m just disappointed that two convicted drug mules have been given maximum exposure whilst two young football fans have been victims of police brutality and now are stuck in a Dutch prison. Not a holding cell where they are being treated to all sorts of goodies and daily visits by their families but a proper prison environment with 1 visit per week. The eveidnce against them is shabby to say the least and the police statements have been changed many times and still do not appear able to point any guilt in their direction. It’s a complete disgrace that the UK police are not getting involved.

When you mirror this with the lack of a conviction for broken seats at Paradise (It would appear that Ajax have paid for them so case closed). Also the continued treatment of the GB for singing songs that are not against the law it’s enough to make you paranoid!

That could be me in prison over on Holland and I would like to think that the media and the government would hold me in higher esteem than two daft girls who decided to make a fast buck through the tranportation of illegal substances.

He really hasn’t performed Kayal. If you look at the stats and performances, Vic gives the ball away more often than not and was directly at fault for the goal they conceded against Hull.

I hope, as niallo83 suggested, that Hooper and Wanyama will improve given the chance.

Southampton fans are crying out for Cork to start instead Wanyama.

Cheers for that – although in my passing interest I thought that the “the” wasn’t required in the “international” name – but was required in the “rANGERS fOOTBALL cLUB” bit to differentiate from the liquidated one.

  11. LIVYBHOY,

No problems mate.I was not thinking of buying in the English market. The figures we are on about should not be beyond us if a good striker in Europe is available.Too many disagree.I just cant see the sense in spending £4-5 million on 3 players who cant do the job they were bought for, rather than spend it on a guy who has done the job well for years.

A wee quote from “The Celtic Diary”today.Brian Clough once said”It does not matter what level a goalscorer played at.A goalscorer will always score goals”They were on about the boy May from St Johnstone, who has a fantastic record.

I dont advocate spending millions we dont have to.Just get in a guy who does that particular job.

We have had people on here saying that a good striker would not have helped in Milan or Amsterdam.Utter nonsense.A good striker will make runs, take up positions, give you a chance to put him in on goal. The couple of massive goals Hooper scored in Europe last season were testament to this.

  12. I think people are confusing Southampton’s form with Wanyama’s.

    @LiviBhoy

That “winning the game in the tunnel” stuff is nonsense. Every team in England has players of Victor’s physical stature. They don’t fear him. They clearly don’t when they take the ball from him.

Without further investment the zombies will run out of money that’s a fact, they’re losing upwards of £1m a month they can’t sustain that loss for long. When the money runs out there bust. Nothing to do with wishing it would happen, it will happen without investment it’s simple math HH

  14. Yeah Vic has been atrocious this season.

Makes you wonder why he’s played in every league game this season for a club who are enjoying arguably the best start in their history in one of the best leagues in Europe.

Now we are on the same page. I read Clough’s book with a lot of interest. He would have been dismayed at the loss of the spine of our team in the summer. It was what he believed in. He made the game sound simple which it is. Get a strong spine and fit the rest around them.

I have said exactly the same thing for years about a striker. If you can score 30 or 40 goals at one level you should be able to step up. A goal scorer is a goal scorer. The boy McKay at Inverness is the guy I would go for. For decades Celtic have picked up the one of the top strikers from their rivals in Scotland with a lot of success. The boy Mckay scores all types of goals and for £500k would be a very good signing. His wages would probably be around £5k per week. He would score goals in the premiership. A much lower gamble than our usual delve into the unknown with a European striker who needs time to settle, learn the language, get fit to the speed of the Scottish game, etc.

I have watched Southampton. Bar a few moments Victor has been fine for them. he is a relatively young guy and should have stayed at Celtic another year at least but he will be a success in England.

  16. @Geordie Munro

Because when the players around you are playing well and score 4 goals, it doesn’t matter if you give 1 away. Exactly like this weekend.

Southampton are playing well as a team but that doesn’t mean that Victor Wanyama has been brilliant. A player playing poorly and his team playing well are not mutually exclusive.

Also, when a manager splashes a lot of cash on players he tends to give them chances even when they are playing crap. Pochettino has a lot riding on Vic and Osvaldo. Neither have done it consistently.

I have nothing against Vic and hope he gets better with time. But its worrying when Southampton fans are crying for him to be dropped and Michael Cox of Zonal Marking described him as having a “genuine 2/10 performance” last week.

Kayal33. I agree with you fella and Hibernian are a well run club so would be likely to have the money and could even offer money plus a player deal.I think we should be looking at Gauld and McKay-Smith at Dundee Utd.also May at St. Johnstone. I dont think we always have to buy abroad I would also like to see some of our youth team getting a few games as young Fisher hasnt looked out of place in the first team if Ledley isnt going to sign a new contract and is likely to leave for free I would leave him out of the team in favour of a youngster. H.H.

  27. In explaining the bottle throwing /tram clip that keeps getting shown if you look at the right hand side of the tram there are 3 guys dressed in the same gear favoured by the Ajax casuals and Amsterdam’s undercover polis, who seem to be the target of the bottles- another guy in the middle of the clip seems to be part of that crowd as when he tries to run off with the others he goes headfirst into a pole and then seems to receive a battering from the gathered Tims- my reading of this in BBC news speak- Tim forces today repulsed an attack on their perimeter by Dutch insurgents. If you were there and were under attack from the group seen attacking the pub the night before would you throw a bottle to keep them at a distance?

  28. With regard to the latest revelations re our Govan friends, I wont be happy until I see ra lot of them, players, coaching staff, managers, directors etc getting led out of Ibrox under the full glare of the media hand cuffed, chained together and with bags over their heads so as not to frighten small children. That would be a Xmas present well worth waiting for…
