Breaking down packed midfields

678

Celtic faced a familiar problem yesterday.  Hearts packed the midfield, which sat close to their defensive line, making it difficult for Celtic to get through, over or wide.  Their best chance in the first half actually came from a Hearts corner kick, one of the few occasions the visitors ventured forward.

Sure, we need to beat Rangers, but dealing with the challenge of teams sitting tight and packing midfield will be key to winning the SPL, and that starts at Perth on Sunday.  St Johnstone will not be in confident mood after their 0-3 pasting at home yesterday, so you can expect them to sit three central midfielders in front of the defence.

    I preferred your antifa stuff.

Heaven help you if you ever have to live in a real totalitarian state.

You’re beginning to sound like you’ld be building a gun stockade in the wilds if we persist with the NHS.

East Germany on steroids?? Seriously?? During a period where capitalism has just swindled billions from us?? You’d have trouble selling that to a gullible 5 year old.

But it might convince an adult viewer of Fox News :-)

  2. I’ve related the story before of the road that led me to the Dr Jo/Lubo/Henrik stepover game.

But a shortened version is my wife and I at a wedding the week before – one of her workmate’s – bursting with Ranger’s tartan kilts. Big fat boorish huns in the main. I was foolishly talked into going to an after wedding party and taking my guitar (My instinct was overriden by my drunken ego I suppose) – the party dwellers grew tired of my Sinatra Dean Martin fare, as the booze flowed a few ruby faced bald heads asked for certain ‘tunes’ – I side swiped em with more and more crooner jazz…

… Not enough – it came down to one wee particularly boorish, arrogant, pudgy, unhealthy whisky swigging arsehole asking me what I thought the score was going to be…

… I could have been cautious or I could have been tactful… I was neither. I said something along the lines of ‘We’ll beat you and we’ll beat you well…’ – something like that. The smug mug replies (And I will never forget his level of contempt and disdain and utter, utter lazy confidence) ‘No gonnae happen. Never gonnae happen.’ – wee side jokes to his mates about the deluded tim. Christine shepherded me out there toutsuite…

… after that game, the game which brought Lubo into sharp focus as a genuinely world class footballer (Although Barnes couldn’t remember playing against him), we were leaving the ground, heading to O’Kanes and my best mate’s brother in law was saying that ‘… today’s a day for one of they daft hats (The mad jester, jingle bells hats), you buy it drunk then never wear it again. It sits in the hoose until someone asks you about that mad hat. And you say that? Och that was the 5-1 gemme and the guy goes aw riiiigghhht.’

All I could think about was that chubby fat wee, pudgy legged, red-faced, baldy headed ignorant arsehole from that party.

    Never gonnae happen my arse…

    God Bless Dr Jo.

I’d like to see Lennie play young James Forrest as centre forward, with Stokes/Hooper alternating as his striking partner. Let’s see how quick they are to chop him down when he’s running into the box.

We should have done the same with Paul Wilson, back in the day.

Seems that St.Johnstone have gone off the boil, now that Cillian’s out injured for a couple of weeks…I heard Sandaza also took a knock at the weekend..so a good time to be playing them..

    Anyways,away oot tae the Jiggin’….

never let them anger you. save your anger for worthwhile targets, I have met and chatted with Keevins, he is a Tim, an Uncle Tim by choice, but a Tim by birth and inclination. He hates The Orcs too , just choses to live his life that way.I do not fear or sweat the small stuff about the lap top loyal, we have more dangerous foes on the park every week.

  14. Evening bhoys, very warm in the cave tonight, and as ever hun free.

Been a hectic few hours, transferred my winnings to my CC then logged on to my bank site to transfer money to Spanish bank, only to discover BOI online have had a makeover, couldn’t make head nor tail of it, then got blocked out, took me over an hour on the phone to sort it, having a few glitches I was informed, feckin amatures.

Celebrating with a lovely Ribera del Guadiana, Campobarro, a gold medal winner, less than 3 euros, super value for money, was in Granada the other day, and one of the big supermarkets had some amazing wines in for Christmas, one ofs, stocked up the cellar.

  24. I’ve just watched a programme on Sky Anytime, History Channel I believe, entitled

    “How Beer Saved The World”.

A must watch for any beer drinker! Get the wife/girlfriend/partner to watch it if you can so the next time you’re going down the pub for a pint you can tell her it is for the advancement of civilisation.

According to this programme beer is the reason for the development of civilisation, the invention of the wheel, writing, the building of the pyramids, the invention of refrigeration, mass production and advances in modern medicine to name but a few of the reasons why beer saved the world. I now feel it is my duty to visit the pub more often and drink more beer. Fortunately for me I watched it with the wife and she has now been enlightened.

  26. good evening cqn

good victory against the jam tarts, why he gave the penalty only he knows.but victories like that win you leagues.my mate was saying one of the times we won the league we beat the HEARTS 2-1 when Craig Gordon made a save then through the ball into the net.my mate says it was a turning and as i say we went on to win the championship

Regarding Keevins i believe his brother is a priest

  27. cant quite believe we have managed to pull them back to 4 points, but i aint complaining. but we need a quality, centre forward and a quality centre back, both of whom must be powerful in the air and strong on the ground in January, if we’re to win this league.

hate to say it but, if we can get the reported 7 million for ki, i would take it to get the quality we need. with hooivel getting his move and o’dea, wilson, cha, dan and loovens contract up at end of season we could replace 7 players with three quality players

with any luck jaurez, mcginn, murphy and radmussion can get their moves away and we can get another quality player in the summer from the savings.

think we could enjoy a sustained period of success, But will it happen???????????
