A year ago you and I discussed Scott Brown’s fitness with some concern for the season ahead. Since then the captain has not skipped a beat, his form and availability for selection have been without question.
It is clear he can cope with a Scotland game this weekend, and no doubt finish the season untroubled, but Scotland have an international against England on 10 June, two weeks after the Scottish Cup final, and four weeks before Celtic’s Champions League qualification campaign gets underway.
If Scott is to participate in all games, he will have a week off after the Scottish Cup final before being called into the Scotland squad, then two weeks before Celtic’s preseason training starts. For a player of his age, with his injury profile, this schedule would not allow sufficient recuperation ahead of a new season.
Selfishly, the most important thing to you and I, and to Celtic, is Champions League qualification, more so than the Scottish Cup, or than a season of invincibility, delightful, though both would be. What Brendan Rodgers backroom team need to do is prepare Scott as thoroughly as possible for the middle of July. Planning should start now.
If there’s another player in the Celtic squad who I would also like to ration his football it’s Mikael Lustig. The Sweden international is likely to be involved in both their international squad in June; a World Cup qualifier against France and a derby against Norway.
If Scotland fail to get a positive result against Slovenia on Sunday, Scott might consider it best to retire from the international stage, again. He and Mikael could do with a few weeks on the beach at the end of the season.

My mammy was talking about Green’s Playhouse today Macjay. Did that become Apollo like she was suggesting?
===============================================================
It did indeed .
My mate used to love going to the cinema there for the divans.
You might ask your mum about that :-)
My mates and I used to walk down from Garnethill and have lunch there.
Plate of chips and a fag.
Regularly we would see Jimmy Mc Grory arriving for the afternoon cinema session.
Gaberdine raincoat and Homburg hat.
There was an association with Greens and Celtic . Perhaps through the owner.
My last gig there, when it was Greens , was the Dubliners who had some major hits in the `60s.
Went to lots of concerts there in the `70s.
Amongst which was a gig to which I took my nephews and niece ………… ( shhhh ) Gary Glitter.

My last gig at Apollo was UB40.

Married in Moville, the ship returning from Celtic’s tour of States dropped him off en route back to Glasgow

Thanks , mate.
Marvellous to see international success for our Tims.
Some criticism is this :
“If you’re going to go out, you may as well go out in a blaze of glory. If you’re going to make a positive change, then put Ikechi Anya on for Kieran Tierney. But James Forrest hasn’t been at his best.”

Stuart .
What can you say ?
Apart from the fact that the Brendan effect has brought out the best in him.

I’m indifferent when it comes to Scotland.
Lack of caps for the Lions coloured my thinking.
What I concerns me though is that everyone except for the injured Leigh, played a full 90 minutes.
Lustig also played a full game on Saturday and Sweden have a friendly on Tuesday.
With an important title game coming up on Sunday, I hope our contingent get a few days to rest their weary legs and nurse any knocks.
I also watch Izzy against the USA on Friday night, but thankfully he only played the first 45 minutes in their 6-0 defeat. Izzy was posted missing for the USA first goal very early on but played well for the rest of the first half.
They play Costa Rica on Tuesday and I hope Izzy doesn’t figure.
He is needed for cover for KT.
My pet gripe with Scottish football:
Bobby Murdoch 12 caps. The greatest half back Scotland has produced.
John Greig 44 caps. In comparison a ponderous lump of lard whose main assets were a preponderance to foul with impunity and a dodgy handshake.
I am a wee bit biased mind you.
‘GG on 27TH MARCH 2017 4:15 AM
Our priorities are the same.
Success for Celtic is far more important to me than success for Scotland.
I remember being at a Scotland game where the chant went up at the hun end for Willie Johnston ( poison dwarf ) .
Willie Ormond obliged and took off wee Jimmy.
Much to the delight of the blue hordes.
Having said that , I get the distinct feeling that we are currently watching the last hurrah of the hun establishment .
Even the appointment of the Portuguese guy puts another dent in their edifice.
We shall see , but the times they are without doubt a-changing.
In spite of the history of entrenched anti Catholic bigotry , I support Scotland and always will .
‘GG on 27TH MARCH 2017 4:15 AM
Just one other thing , mate.
When I see the delight of Broony and the obvious pride of Stuart , I simply can`t help sharing their joy.
