CELTIC’S £3.75million misfit Alexandro Bernabei is heading for a quickfire exit from the champions.

The Argentinian defender, who was bought by Ange Postecoglou from top-flight outfit Lanus in the summer of 2022, looks to be on his way back to South America.

Bernabei, who made just four starts in his nine appearances for the Hoops since Brendan Rodgers’ return in June, has been targeted by Brazilian side SC Internacional.

The 23-year-old left-back is about to agree an original loan deal before tomorrow’s transfer deadline and is already in the country, according to a report in the Daily Record.

THE ONE AND ONLY…Alexandro Bernabei fires in his solitary Premiership goal in Celtic’s 2-0 win over Ross County in Dingwall in April last year.

Bernabei has failed to convince at Parkhead since being brought in to challenge Greg Taylor for the No.3 position. However, he didn’t prove to be an upgrade on the Scotland international and a switch elsewhere is the obvious answer.

Rodgers targeted a new left-sided back-four operator in the January window, but failed in loan moves for Manchester City’s Sergio Gomez, Wolves’ Hugo Bueno and Leicester City’s Luke Thomas.

Any chance of a switch for Owen Beck was scuppered when Jurgen Klopp gave the full-back a cameo first-team appearance for Liverpool against Bournemouth and the Welsh youngster returned to Dundee after an impressive first half of the season during his temporary transfer.

It is a position that will urgently require strengthening in the summer.
