Cadete scandal casts shadow

1236

Alexander (Sandy) Bryson has been mentioned in reports concerning another controversial matter in SFA history.  He was Head of Registrations when Celtic tried to register Jorge Cadete in 1996.  That case led to SFA chief executive, Jim Farry, being dismissed for gross misconduct after he failed to register the player in time for him to face Rangers in a Scottish Cup tie.

The Burness report into what happened noted that Farry “deflected responsibility to Mr (Sandy] Bryson (head of registrations] …. (on] certain executive decisions”.  In a contemporary article, Mirror Group Newspapers noted “it is unclear what part registration chief Sandy Bryson may have played in this debacle”.

  3. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

I await a response to Green’s snide comments tonight asking for an apology for prejudging his Club’s predecessor. Celtic should take up that challenge.

Let our club stand up for what is right and fair.

Think of some of the preposterous statements you have read and listened to since 12 noon. You’ll have been left astounded, bemused and angry The peach for me was by LNS himself, “Rangers FC did not gain any unfair competitive advantage”. If I get this learned person right they fielded players who shouldn’t have been on the park, but this wasn’t an advantage ?

    Black is indeed white today.

But the focus has to be on what is right. Celtic alone can do that, I demand it tonight.

I remember the hurt when they and the authorities conspired to award them titles. I felt rage at Dallas when he and that linesman awarded a “Rangers penalty” (copyright Gus Macpherson) in the penultimate game in 2005. Remember when the brethren at the SFA conspired to help them avoid a trip to Tynecastle. The worst had to be Farry and his blatant cheating in the Cadette registration cheating ? Incidentally does anyone recall reading or hearing why he did that ?

All these facts have Celtic as the victim, maybe that’s our role victims ? I’m not a victim and won’t pay a further penny into a sport that condones lying, cheating and heralds the perpetrator as a paragon.

Tonight you’ll have seen the smirks and the gall of Gordon Smith going on the attack. The fine imposed will be airbrushed out and the reality will be another masonic victory, it sure bloody feels like it.

Reading the blog and speaking to Celtic supporters tonight the bemusement and isolation is stark.

Celtic need to create merry hell, agitate and do all they can to leave this environment. Would it be beyond the club to create an alternative league body ? If that’s not practical right now I’d settle for the Conference or Irish league.

Silence will confirm Celtic are happy with the victim role.

  4. An Dun,

    we know that.

    But does anyone else???

I was speaking to some Cheshire based Everton fans just the other week and they didnt know the difference. They thought they were one and the same just playing in Divn 3 now. I would suggest those Everton fans views are far from a minority.

In fact as long as SSN and the rest keep peddling the myth, it is only a matter of time until the myth becomes reality in most people’s minds.

Thats why it does matter what the media (all forms) say and do.

Not on here but Ive seen folk moan ‘Im not voting for independance, it will lead to more of this’

Aye not having a say on how your country is governed will help fix the football corruption.

Vote no, vote the union, vote tories, that will fix Scottish football, big change will happen if that happens. Load of investment in pitches and all thes things of course an English voted for tory government will fling money at Scottish football, tons of it. They will invest to win tory votes in tory heartands like our dear G72 and other world centres.

Furfoxache Aye, goin yershelf vote no and let your self and your country down, be a sapp and continue.

  6. Meanwhile, quote of the day from an Aberdeen forum

    “tup, on 28 February 2013 – 01:28 PM, said:

The huns would no doubt have been concocting their own special game of ‘Finding Nimmo’ if he dared to rule against them.”

  7. A lot of the walkaways on here don’t want to walk away from Celtic and Scotland.. They want to walk away with Celtic. History and all. To where they say not. They deny Rangers their history. And they’d do the same to us. Except they’ve no idea of the opposition they’d face.

For my part I declared last night I’d still be a Celtic supporter come Saturday morning. I will. I’ll also still be Scottish.

I half expect some of the big girls on here will be threatening to burn their bras before the night is out.

My antecedents and all the Celtic men I know are the type to stand and fight.

These wantaways can’t hide their anti-Scottish agenda.

They feel no compunction in rubbishing a nation of 5¼m souls. Hardworking binmen, teachers, policemen, doctors, lawyers, brickies, joiners, barmen. The lot.

These would be runaways are like wee Calimero who traipsed off crying out to anyone who would listen “Eets an eenjusteece eet eez.”

But that was just a comedy show aimed at teaching children. It’s a long time since I watched it.

  13. I said I was going to say no more until I had this thing on the run……..well……every day they give you that little bit extra to deal with…..my heart problems are ‘merely’ being exacerbated by the lung cancer, which turns out is incurable and all I can be offered is palliative care.

    Today I can barely walk.

Well. The upside of this is I’m going to devote a lot of time fundraising for wee Oscar, the finest of wee mhen, and I wish him a full and healthy life. I’ve had a good one. I wish him the same, with no more pain.

in a way now i wish they would have agreed the losing titles deal to allow them to stay in the spl….would they now be trying to claim them back and hanging CO out to dry ?…

Who’s going to tell Jabba that his beloved Airdrie is alive & kicking after all?

How could chuckles give up titles he didn’t own?

Apologies that I can’t answer you in full as I have a lot on this evening.

However, if you’re asking do I think Celtic can win 10 in a row then the answer is an unequivocal yes.

Will the achievement be diminished by the absence of the huns, in any guise? The answer is an equally resounding no.

    I’ll welcome the chase.

  23. “Rangers did not gain any competitive advantage and players were not ineligable to play”

Ok, someone sort me out in laymans terms. Did they gain an advantage? Should their players have been allowed to play?

Once I understand all this I can finally put it to bed. Help me oot.

#c4news. The key pt is that the Rangers payments were part of massive tax avoidance scheme set up to gain RFC advantage….

  25. It seems in this country it is the losers not the victors that write history. Liquidated, walking in dead man’s shoes, but still dictating how the governing body, the establishment and the media report things.

One thing I would like to know from todays ruling. “IF” the registrations are valid until the SFA and or the SPL revoke them and therefore results cannot be changed /scratched…………. WHEN will the SFA revoke them? It has been proven they were ineligible registrations.

SFA – REVOKE THE REGISTRATIONS NOW

  26. miki67,

Talk about putting things into perspective.

  28. I have not read all posts today but I am spotting a wee bit of a dialogue of the deaf going on between many Celtic supporters.

There have been some fine posts, such as Philvis’s, which would bring tears to a glass eye. And less fine ones, like Ntassoola’s, which aim to settle more petty grievances.

But, they are all aimed at persuading some imaginary posters not to walk away from Celtic.

As I said, I have not read all posts but I have yet to read one that states that a poster intends to walk away from Celtic.

There have been times in my life where I could not or did not actively attend games. There have been recent times where I have been fortunate enough to choose to attend many.

I was no better or less of a Celtic fan in either situation.

And I will not be if I decide not to attend matches under current arrangements.

Other outcomes are possible. If my finances remain healthy and there is some sign of coordinated action to fight this Fakeover scam, then I may be able to play Uber-Celt again and turn up at CP and other lesser grounds.

But, if that does not occur, and I would not wager good money on it, then please spare me the piety of preaching against my walking away from my club. I could no more do that than walk away from my family. However, I don’t get to see all of them every weekend.
