Celtic 1-0 Motherwell

733

Motherwell fought tenaciously for most of the game at Celtic Park this afternoon but a momentary lapse was all that Georgios Samaras and Gary Hooper needed to settle the contest.  Celtic moved an astonishing 23 points clear at the top of the table and are odds on favourite to become champions before the next return to Celtic Park.

Samaras was first to show after 9 minutes when he latched onto a Matthews flick but Darren Randolph was quick off his line to block.  Player of the Year elect, Charlie Mulgrew, then jinked past a defender before slipping the ball to Samaras.  The Greek’s shot was block and Mulgrew blasted the rebound wide.  Randolph then saved well after Samaras shot from inside the D.

While Celtic always looked dangerous, Motherwell were in no mood to concede, so the goal was surprising in its simplicity.  Adam Matthews fired a throw-in to Samaras, who chested the ball into the path of unmarked Gary Hooper.  Hooper put his laces through the ball from a narrow angle to give Randolph no chance.

Samaras, Hooper and Forrest all had chances to finish the game off but the second goal never arrived.

Good defences are a lot harder to quantify than poor defences.  Today Celtic strolled through the game at the back.  No one was stretched and Fraser Forster didn’t have a save to make until the 77th minute.

It’s immaterial if the rumour is true or not, it’s going to be viral soon enough once FB takes it up.

We have had to suffer years of lies and inuendo from these scum aided and abeted by the MSM, lets see how they cope, no as well as we coped I imagine.

Jeez this has been a long time coming, I honestly didn’t realise how good I could feel being a Tim, this is better than anything I have ever felt, been supporting the club since the mid 60’s, but the thought of them no more is unsurpassable.

Your lack of understanding was not for the lack of effort on my part ;)

However even I, who felt in my bones in early 2010, when the Open Meetings first stated loss of confidence in the SFA, that something corrupt was taking place, have been surprised at the degree of skullduggery that Celtic were fighting against.

It was not my intention to call out fellow Celts who thought we should have done better these past 3 years. I felt that way myself.

On 2 occasions, our players let us down by being in a winning position close to the end of the season but could not convert. The season that I am most conflicted about is Tony Mowbray’s where we were given our much-requested financial injection- (Keane Kamara Braafheid) but we were hopeless, though we were faced with unprecedented levels of honest mistakes that season.

I do feel entitled to call out the trolling huns such as Truth.

    Then kapoom…

    Does the sound bitter?

  9. If the two contract stuff is correct and the SFA turned a blind eye to it then we could be looking at a British Football Association.

  10. I think we should all be very careful about jumping on the poppy money rumour as if it’s just that, a rumour, and not true then we will all look very silly and we will have given the tax dodgers and compliant meejia something to hammer us with.

Week or so ago I asked that if someone could go on radio Clydes ‘The Word’ comp and say “Jelly” and “Ice-cream” I’d donate £70 to Vanessa appeal. My intention was always to donate the money so that has now been sorted so please Bhoys and Ghirls. A wee call to Clyde this week with “Jelly” and “Ice-Cream” as the words would be fantastic. You’ll not win but think of the Tim kudos.

I would imagine the club have a plan for them going into admin and the possibility of being liquidated, all the talk has been of a newco, things have taken a giant leap forward from that mi amigo.

There is now a major probability of another Third Lanark, Gretna on the horizon,

Have the club thought about this scenario ?

Cos I think they should, as it’s looking like the only show in town.

It could come to that or UEFA recognise Celtic have a case for playing outside Scotland if we could persuade say the Championship to take us.

    THE EXILED TIM says:

    25 February, 2012 at 23:34

The perceived wisdom about 9 months ago was that there would always be a Rangers, weakened probably, but still in the SPL. But the way things are going there will be some rethinking taking place. I would not be unhappy about Ernie L’s mention of a UK FA happening, but that goes against the poltical flow of independence. There is however an insettling metaphor of comparing the kind of governance the SFA have provided as an independent governing body and what kind we would get with an independent government.

  23. The Exiled Tim,

Like you, indeed all of us, I will rejoice at their demise.

For the hurt they have caused to generations and the society they have destroyed, obliteration is the only option.

The greatest benefit for me personally, will be to remove the harmful emotions that their existence bring out of me.

I hate every thing that they have stood for, as a club. I don’t hate their support.

Not quite “love the sinner, hate the sin”, more like, “there for he Grace of God, go I”.

I posted the other day about UEFA postponing our outstanding disciplinary hearing.

I whimsically opined that they would perhaps throw the book at us, expel us from the SFA/SPL and force us to play in a neighbouring league.

    Whadyathink?

  25. Auld Heid.

This was my response to Paul67’s article last week re the lack of a definition from the SFA about what the remit of the inquiry was:

    Paul67:

Good article and I agree that if there is even a hint of the SFA accepting players registered with anyone other than the club they play for that must be part of the terms of reference for the inquiry.

However if the secretive S.F.A. will not tell the public what the terms of their enquiry are then that is not on.

I would suggest that any member of the public is at liberty to ask this question of the S.F.A. or the Inquiry Chair, Lord Nimmo-Smith as the use of public funds by the S.F.A. entitles us to know such things.

Perhaps the best way to find out is for the accepted heads of the fans groups such as Joe O’Rourke and The Celtic Trust, or Paul67, etc. were to write to Reagan and Lord Nimmo-Smith asking for this matter to be included in the inquiry.

It would be a good idea to copy Celtic F.C. in on this.

Never been able to sit on my hands. Including Copland road Huns v Celtic 84. Lasted unt Huns scored and left with some assistance (let’s say). 14 yrs old and lesson learned.

Shouting out “oh FFS” when Huns scored wasn’t a good idea.
