CELTIC BOSS TELLS ARMSTRONG AGENT: ‘LET’S TALK’

BRENDAN RODGERS wants midfielder Stuart Armstrong’s representative to make clear the demands for a new contract.

The 25-year-old Scotland international midfielder has moved into the last season of his current deal and the Hoops boss is eager for the player to sign an extension.

Rodgers said: “He is in the final year of his contract and we hope that he will sign a new one.

“I speak regularly with him, he wants to be here.

“If his agent can speak to the club and organise a deal then that would be great.

“He is a boy I really like, who still has development and is a young player who wants to be at Celtic.”

Armstrong arrived along with Gary Mackay-Steven from Dundee United in a £2million double deal two-and-a-half years ago.

His former Tannadice pal joined Aberdeen earlier this week, but Rodgers is determined the rejuvenated playmaker does not follow him through the Hoops exit.
