CELTIC’S Scottish Cup third round encounter next month will be shown live on Premier Sports.

The holders, who have won the trophy for a record-breaking four successive years, are due to face Arbroath or Falkirk who have yet to settle their tie.

While the Hoops await the outcome, the satellite sports broadcasters have booked a spot for their first defence of the Cup at Parkhead on the weekend of April 3/4.

The government gave the green light for the national competition after months of speculation on whether or not it would go into cold storage in the midst of the Covid pandemic lockdown, as CQN reported yesterday.

Ross County ended the Hoops’ domination of Scotland’s three trophies when they shocked them 2-0 to knocked them out of the Betfred League Cup in November in Glasgow. It was the club’s first defeat in a knock-out competition in 35 ties.

The Scottish Cup Final is scheduled for Hampden on Saturday, May 22.

The SPFL have also confirmed the Premiership split will start in the middle of April with the final league fixtures taking place May.

The final pre-split matches will take place on the weekend of March 20/21. Teams will then have a wait of around three weeks until their next league outing.

The first post-split fixture comes on the weekend of April 10/11. The next games are scheduled for the midweek of April 20/21. Three league fixtures are due for May.

The post-split Premiership dates:

April 10/11: Matchday 34

April 20/21: Matchday 35

May 1/2: Matchday 36

May 11/12: Matchday 37

May 15/16: Matchday 38
