Celtic, experienced winners at Ibrox

239

You will remember being concerned going into ‘these games’ in the past with too many Celtic players who have either no experience of them, or mainly poor experiences.  Not so on Sunday.  The Celtic side and those in the dugout have  experienced overwhelmingly positive outcomes when facing Newco, including at Ibrox.

The same is not true the other way.  Some of their starters will have played in the dead rubber at the end of last season, when Ange left half our team out.  Tavernier and Goldson have at least won meaningly 90 minute games against Celtic, but that’s about it, and even they will still need therapy to cope with memories of players in green and white hoops.

What happens at the side of the pitch will be as important as what happens on the turf.  For months, Brendan Rodgers has been privately suggesting that as long as Celtic are in touching distance when we get to Ibrox, we will be in good shape after the game.  The manager has an outstanding record at that ground, it seems to bring the best out of him.

Joe Hart, our back four, and Callum McGregor will feed confidence off each other.  Daizen and Matt O’Riley will use the relative freedom of an open game to exercise their abilities.

In my entire Celtic watching life, no striker has so dominated either of the Rangerses than Kyogo, even the Great Swede, and he dominated them into a wonderful tax efficiency scheme.  Nicolas Kuhn will be the one player in a Celtic shirt who will need to find he bearings.  If he is against Barisic, that will not be a challenge.

Having the better team does not guarantee anything, but the Celtic team you see on Sunday will be the best assembled side in Scottish football for many months.  Bring it on.

  1. Good afternoon all from Air Thrill in ole EK.

Decided to take Grandkids to bounce and run to they are knackered.

Wee Riley boy is going on and on about going to CP mañana to see off the team. Now he is off playing football with some random weans.

Anyway 2 more sleeps to we beat the huns, 2- 1 or 3 – 1.

    ————–

that is a bold statement, Kyogo has 7 goals againsty the current franchise, all different types of goals, from a few chances, he seems to me to score more often against them with maybe half his chances.

still for me, not as dangerous as the great swede, but then again, he had lubo and chris to supply him, and then that power in the air,

    lets not get over confident

  4. Maybe I’m overly confident, but I think we will win well.

Main thing is discipline, and by that I mean no silly free kicks especially in danger areas, keep 11 men on the park, and most of all remember, we are playing against 14 men

I strongly fancy us on Sunday. It’s dependent on 2 things:

    1. Our big players are fit enough to be at 90% plus levels.

    2. Beaton doesn’t cheat us beyond the tolerable, per Tynecastle.

Beaton will cheat us, it’s only a matter of degree. It’s the one thing that I’m fearful of on Sunday.

  6. They’ll press the lives out of us for the first half, how we play out will decide the match for me. If our CBs can find the midfield and get Hatate in particular on the ball then the spaces for Kyogo, Maeda and Kuhn to exploit will be substantial.

    “either of the Rangerses”

    ????????????????????????

  8. The last match versus thems the fouls awarded to them and non bookings for thugish challenges is still fresh in my mind as was the foul on our player yet they scored from free kick. I have no doubt this will be ramped up in this match.

    Beware ⚠

  9. Of course they will cheat as will the officials, we will will need to be at our very best to get the win, but are more than capable, take our chances which we will have and please Liam Scales, do not wait on the ball bouncing if any orcs are in the vicinity.

  10. We need our defence to defend well. Nothing daft please.

Offensively, I have a sneaky feeling that Kuhn may be the unlikely hero.

The referee will be operating in plain sight. If he’s fair, we havea great chance.

  11. Attack is our best form of defence if we score first they will get very nervous in the stands and onfield.

Idah and Khun will and can make an impact after Kyogo scores again I feel.

  12. Playing through a much more aggressive rangers press will be key.

With Hatate and Cal back plus the energised Taylor as well as outballs to Daizen and Kuhn I think we can do this.

It won’t be easy as they are confident in each other as a team and appear to have belief in their manager. They also have the crowd and the key officials.

We can win and reasons Paul states are spot on. It won’t be easy. Like many Kuhn who gets fitter each week could be our wildcard.

If you’re heading to Kitty’s on Sunday, I’ve booked the GUINNESS room.

As you enter the pub, turn first left and the room is there on the left.

Hope to see you and your son there.

  14. The bigots will start as the always do at 100 mph, then fade after 15 minutes opening the door for our goal fest, easy peasy

  15. We’re at our best when underdogs and we’ve best available squad and our captain is back NO FEAR.

  16. I wish I could share the confidence of most on here about Sunday. I am never confident when we play them; now, it seems the mibs are openly supporting them.

    Let’s hope we hammer them.

I would take a draw now (obvs a win would be great)

And beat them at home (im confident we will win every game to end of season)

A hun Beaton assisted win means its in their hands

They will get assisted in every game

Do not lose tomorrow we win the league

  19. We have everyone bar Cal and even he might make an appearance.

They are still missing a few and their current heroes Yilmaz and Sima 50/50.

I had to laugh at the pathetic Benstead who said Clement never complained about refs. Rewriting history in a fawning interview there.

  20. Listened to Brendan’s presser. Seems calm and confident. We are in our best position all year as far as team selection goes. Everyone is 100% and available bar Callum who is very close – He will make a call on him tomorrow but he’s looking good.

    …………

    I agree Mate.

Watch Beaton and his Hun Assistants giving them almost everything, including stopping the game if/when Celtic try to attack. Beaton and his Assistants will be ” FULLY AT IT” on Sunday, of that I have no doubt.

Hopefully, IF Celtic turn up we can impose OUR Game on THEMS……with Bad Billy Boy Beaton unable to stop Celtic ?

It’s a must not lose for me on Sunday.

As someone mentioned, they’ll get assistance in every game from the Mibs until the season end. Also, who will take points from them post-split?

Both Hearts and Kilmarnock will lie down (but bust their guts against us), which leaves St Mirren and Dundee/Hibs.

Would you put money on any of those three taking points off the huns?

It’s in our own hands if we avoid defeat on Sunday.
