CELTIC FACE RAITH TEST

1

CELTIC will face Raith Rovers at Parkhead in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup next month.

Ange Postecoglou watched his side beat Alloa 2-1 thanks to first-half goals from Giorgos Giakoumakis and Liel Abada before being paired with the Fifers in the ballot immediately afterwards.

The Hoops were left bruised and battered after a rough and tumble encounter against the third-tier side and skipper Callum McGregor, Abada and Yosuke Ideguchi were all forced off after taking a series of knocks in a tie where referee Don Robertson appeared to lack control.

The trio are now doubtful for Postecoglou’s side’s visit to Tynecastle on Wednesday for the crucial Premiership confrontation with Hearts.

The tie against the Stark’s Park outfit, who overcame Banks O’ Dee 3-0 earlier in the day, is due in the east end of Glasgow on the weekend of February 12/13.

Coincidentally, the teams met in the Premier Sports League Cup earlier in the season where the Hoops won 3-0 at Parkhead on September 23 on their way to lifting the silverware last month.
