CELTIC FLOP DUO ON MOVE

CELTIC flops Vakoun Issouf Bayo and Oli Burke have joined new clubs this weekend.

The misfiring frontmen, who were both brought to Parkhead by Brendan Rodgers, failed to spark in the east end of Glasgow.

Ivorian striker Bayo, 25, signed in a £2million move from Slovakian club Dunajská Streda in January 2019, one of the Irishman’s last purchases for the Hoops.

And Scotland international forward Burke, also 25, who had been involved in £28million-pound worth of deals involving Nottingham Forest, RB Leipzig and West Brom, agreed a loan deal from the Hawthorns outfit the previous January.

ON TARGET…Vakoun Issouf Bayo scores the second of his two goals for Celtic in a 3-0 Scottish Cup win over Clyde at Broadwood. His other goal came in a 5-0 triumph over Partick Thistle in the League Cup in Glasgow.

Bayo, who had been recommended by his countryman Kolo Toure, was sent on loan to French second-tier outfit Toulouse and moved to Gent on a £1.5million transfer before arriving at another Belgian outfit RSC Charleroi where he claimed 11 strikes in 16 games.

Burke’s temporary transfer ended on May 31 2019 and Neil Lennon, who succeeded Rodgers in February that year, refused to make the switch permanent.

Ivory Coast attacker Bayo, who scored only two goals in 17 outings for Celtic, has joined Championship side Watford in a £5million five-year deal while the Scotland international has returned for a second spell in Germany at Werder Bremen after leaving Sheffield United.

Bayo made his debut for Ivory Coast in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Central African Republic in 2018 and his big-money switch to the newly-relegated second-tier side was confirmed on the club website.

ON TARGET…Oli Burke scores the first of his four goals for Celtic in a 4-0 win over St Mirren at Parkhead in January 2019.

Burke, who collected only four goals in 19 appearances for Celtic, spent the second-half of last season on loan at Millwall from the Yorkshire club, but once again failed to impress.

A statement from the Sheffield United website stated the Scot was Germany-bound after the Bramall Lane side and the Bundesliga club reached an agreement for the player to move for an undisclosed fee.

Burke scored two goals in 36 appearances for the second-tier team.

His last outing for Celtic was the final game of the 2018/19 Premiership campaign when two goals from Mikey Johnston gave the champions’ a 2-1 win over Hearts at Parkhead.

He was substituted at half-time by Karamoko Dembele and was left out of the squad for the Scottish Cup Final the following weekend on May 25 against the same opponents when a double from Odsonne Edouard sealed the phenomenal treble treble in a 2-1 triumph.
