The Slovakian whistler also sent off Virgil van Dijk and while Celtic can’t appeal that decision as it was for two yellow cards, they will be contesting the overall charge and highlighting the display of the officials.

A club spokesperson said: “UEFA rules state that they are able to open disciplinary proceedings against any club that receives five or more bookings.

“Celtic can confirm that this is a charge the club will be contesting.”

Hoops boss Ronny Deila and a host of Celtic stars slammed the awful Krzliak’s performance. At he final whistle, Kris Commons caught on camera berating the hapless match official. The midfielder was immediately yellow-carded.
