Celtic Park Race Night for Oscar

1423

Football can be a primitive sport on occasions but before kick off at Cardiff tonight the Wales and Scotland players will acknowledge the nation’s thoughts for a family in distress. The game provides many of us with opportunities to remember we are members of a complex and caring society. The The Wee Oscar 4 Life team have asked me to invite you to next month’s race night at Celtic Park. This is from them:

Be a hero for Wee Oscar and come along and join us for the WeeOscar4Life Race Night and Auction on 17th November in the Kerrydale Suite at Celtic Park!

Wee Oscar and his family flew to Philadelphia on the 6th October to start Wee Oscar’s potentially lifesaving Immunotherapy treatment, unfortunately due to health complications Wee Oscar was rushed into Intensive Care and it appears that these complications have shattered the prospect of receiving this immunotherapy treatment in Philadelphia. The events from the last few days have strengthened the WeeOscar4Life Campaign’s resolve to ensure maximum support for Wee Oscar and his family throughout Wee Oscar’s treatment. Set-backs such as this mean that it’s now more important than ever to raise additional funds.

The WeeOscar4Life campaign are proud to continue our fundraising for Oscar and his family during his treatment; Lisa Hague, Patron of the campaign, and Partner of Celtic’s Kris Commons says ‘This is the next stage of fundraising which will directly support Oscar and his family throughout the treatment and we implore the Celtic Family to continue supporting this incredibly worthwhile appeal. The Race Night and Auction is going to be a wonderful night and I can’t wait for the fun!”

Tom Boyd, the captain who stopped 10, said, “It will be my pleasure to support the WeeOscar4Life campaign by attending the race night next month. The backing shown by the Celtic Family already has been nothing short of extraordinary, and has inspired many of us to get involved and help this family through such an abysmal time.”

10 WeeOscar4Life Corporate tables, seating 10 people, are available on a first come first served basis offering preferential seating, drinks package, snacks, free entry and company advertising/printed logos. Early booking is advised as advanced reservations mean there is limited availability.

WeeOscar4Life seats are available and can be purchased individually or as groups at £7 per ticket. Again these seats will be sold on a first come first served basis. Snacks will be available on each table. Tables seat 10 people.

On the night there will be 8 races a raffle and an auction.

Race sponsorship is also available at £250 per race.

Jockey and Owner sponsorship is also available at £5 per Jockey or Owner. Each winning Jockey and Owner will receive a prize.

After keevins’ article in the sm today about the Dalgliesh / Barnes era, he must NEVER be allowed to darken the door of Celtic Park again ……… If he had been equally as enthusiastic about reporting on the ‘murray years’, he may have contributed to saving his favoured club …… Weasel of a man who preys on the emotions of individuals instead of reporting the facts in an impartial manner… He needs swatted into retirement……

One miner fact, keechone, Flo’s signing has been recognised as the worst signing EVER in Scottish Football ……. Did you forget about that one, you insignificant little ink stain…..

Whenever I see flood warnings on the telly I think Chuckles Green must be about to speak again.

  4. Green started his football career as a schoolboy with Sheffield United before playing reserve team football at Doncaster Rovers. He left Doncaster without breaking into the first team and embarked upon a career in non-league football with teams like Alfreton Town where he made 40 appearances.[3] A brief return to the Football League with Barnsley resulted in him again failing to make the first team returning to non-league football. He had spells with Frickley Athletic, Gainsborough Trinity, Goole Town and Cheltenham Town who signed him for £500 from Goole.

I have 4 good mates who are Hund, all of them professional guys with plenty of savvy, one of them a reasonably big sponsor of Oldco. None of them buy Charles Green. They rarely mention The Rangers – they have accepted its over.

In their last report, D&P confirmed BDO would take over on 12 Oct ………. But it’s gone all quiet on THAT one, even on CQN ……… Strange, since it is a very important aspect of all this…..

My mates are not avoiding me but they never mention Huns… In fact I made a joke about Stirling result to one and he wasn’t aware (genuinely) of the score.

They have taken the complete scunner….

I do think however they will be back. For me they can only ever be 2nd team in Scotland ‘by any measure’.

They carry the tax dodging shame forever. There will be a hard core who will turn up but I suspect current 36000 season ticket holders will dwindle not grow possibly platuing at the 25000 point.

This will safely ensure they are 2nd force in Scottish Football.

The major difficulty I think they have to face out with financial woes is attracting Management and playing staff. Who would go there? My guess is guys at the end of their career seeking a last pension boosting payday.

Philvis, sorry I had to head last night. Your view is so far removed from the reality I experienced of a month on the ground that never the twain shall meet me thinks. I still think your funny sometimes.

  12. Maybe Tom English sways with the wind, but that article deserves to be taken at face value.

How he was taken in by Whyte is irrelevant (I still maintain that FPLG’s failures on the field had more to do with their quick demise than Whitey’s actions)

Saw your post about tickets for Spain-France.

The arrangement was that tickets would go on open sale from October 10 at the ticket offices at the Vicente Calderón. It should also be possible to buy them from La Caixa ATM machines, but if you have the time, it might be just as easy to wander over to the stadium during office hours tomorrow and try your luck. Ticket sales were to continue right up until kick-off on Tuesday evening, if they are still available.

It’s hard to tell, but international matches rarely sell out, and times are tough so all the more reason to be optimistic about getting a couple.

The cheapest were on sale for €30, up in the gods behind either goal. At the top end, they were marked at €85 a head for the VIP section in the main stand. There were various price levels in between.

It’s not too far to walk to the stadium on a nice day, but it’s also reasonably close the Puerta de Toledo metro station I haven’t been for years but that was how we always used to get to the Calderón, metro to Puerta de Toledo and walk from there.

    Good luck.

Best team won. A few decisions went against both teams, remember these things even themselves out.

Levein should go, but he’s in today’s papers saying he’s getting things right and should be given more time. Begging Regan to be strong and stick by him. Totally delusional.

  15. They are all hanging on Green’s nonsense/vicitim talk/stereotypical supremacy etc due to hope. It’s all they really have.

I hope that despair is the final outcome.
