Celtic Park Race Night for Oscar

1423

Football can be a primitive sport on occasions but before kick off at Cardiff tonight the Wales and Scotland players will acknowledge the nation’s thoughts for a family in distress. The game provides many of us with opportunities to remember we are members of a complex and caring society. The The Wee Oscar 4 Life team have asked me to invite you to next month’s race night at Celtic Park. This is from them:

Be a hero for Wee Oscar and come along and join us for the WeeOscar4Life Race Night and Auction on 17th November in the Kerrydale Suite at Celtic Park!

Wee Oscar and his family flew to Philadelphia on the 6th October to start Wee Oscar’s potentially lifesaving Immunotherapy treatment, unfortunately due to health complications Wee Oscar was rushed into Intensive Care and it appears that these complications have shattered the prospect of receiving this immunotherapy treatment in Philadelphia. The events from the last few days have strengthened the WeeOscar4Life Campaign’s resolve to ensure maximum support for Wee Oscar and his family throughout Wee Oscar’s treatment. Set-backs such as this mean that it’s now more important than ever to raise additional funds.

The WeeOscar4Life campaign are proud to continue our fundraising for Oscar and his family during his treatment; Lisa Hague, Patron of the campaign, and Partner of Celtic’s Kris Commons says ‘This is the next stage of fundraising which will directly support Oscar and his family throughout the treatment and we implore the Celtic Family to continue supporting this incredibly worthwhile appeal. The Race Night and Auction is going to be a wonderful night and I can’t wait for the fun!”

Tom Boyd, the captain who stopped 10, said, “It will be my pleasure to support the WeeOscar4Life campaign by attending the race night next month. The backing shown by the Celtic Family already has been nothing short of extraordinary, and has inspired many of us to get involved and help this family through such an abysmal time.”

10 WeeOscar4Life Corporate tables, seating 10 people, are available on a first come first served basis offering preferential seating, drinks package, snacks, free entry and company advertising/printed logos. Early booking is advised as advanced reservations mean there is limited availability.

WeeOscar4Life seats are available and can be purchased individually or as groups at £7 per ticket. Again these seats will be sold on a first come first served basis. Snacks will be available on each table. Tables seat 10 people.

On the night there will be 8 races a raffle and an auction.

Race sponsorship is also available at £250 per race.

Jockey and Owner sponsorship is also available at £5 per Jockey or Owner. Each winning Jockey and Owner will receive a prize.

To reserve tickets or request further information please contact the team at here WeeOscar4Life@gmail.com.

    Saw your post about tickets for Spain-France.

    The arrangement was that tickets would go on open sale from October 10 at the ticket offices at the Vicente Calderón. It should also be possible to buy them from La Caixa ATM machines, but if you have the time, it might be just as easy to wander over to the stadium during office hours tomorrow and try your luck. Ticket sales were to continue right up until kick-off on Tuesday evening, if they are still available.

    It’s hard to tell, but international matches rarely sell out, and times are tough so all the more reason to be optimistic about getting a couple.

    The cheapest were on sale for €30, up in the gods behind either goal. At the top end, they were marked at €85 a head for the VIP section in the main stand. There were various price levels in between.

    It’s not too far to walk to the stadium on a nice day, but it’s also reasonably close the Puerta de Toledo metro station I haven’t been for years but that was how we always used to get to the Calderón, metro to Puerta de Toledo and walk from there.

    Good luck.

    I don’t normally watch tennis, but turned on the telly to see Murray in a monumental tie-break. Great stuff, until he started his usual nonsense….sorry, but just can’t ‘take to him’, I’m afraid.

    ” Black Christians : Shame! Shame! Shame!…”

    By Lloyd Marcus….A Non-Hyphenated American….

    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    Increasingly, I am hearing the following mantra/narrative from black Christians:”I’m voting for Obama because he is the lesser of the two evils.”  This is an extremely weak attempt to justify their racism and loyalty to The Black Code (never side with a white against a fellow black).
    From a Christian point of view, how can any Bible-believer conclude that Mitt Romney is more evil than Barack Obama?
    Here are a few of the numerous things on Obama’s anti-Christian agenda.  Obama supports same-sex marriage and has vowed to be an advocate for the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender communities.  Obama supports abortion, including infanticide (making it illegal to provide medical aid to a baby who has survived a failed abortion).  Despite their strong will to survive, these babies must be left to die.
    Massive governmental controls hidden in ObamaCare include forcing Christian institutions to fund abortion services against the teachings of their faith.  Think about that: the federal government demanding that Christians betray their biblical beliefs.  Forty Catholic groups are fighting back by suing the Obama administration.  In typical liberal incremental fashion, our military has gone from a “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy to being mandated under Obama to celebrate Gay Pride Month.
    Indisputable facts are available everywhere exposing Obama to be the most anti-Christian president in U.S. history.  I know some of you black Christians will continue to stick your heads in the sand, refusing to accept the truth.  Woe be unto you.  Racism is evil, whether it comes from whites or from blacks blindly worshiping Obama because of his skin color.
    So, black Christians, tell me Romney’s stated anti-Christian agenda.  Grasping at straws, some will say Romney is a Mormon and Mormonism does not jive with Christianity.  Well, you may have a point.  However, Romney has not attacked Christianity or pledged to force Christians to betray their faith.  Obama is boldly and dictatorially implementing his anti-Christian agenda.  Regrettably, many of you black so-called followers of Christ realize who Obama really is and what he is doing.  And yet you will vote for him anyway because of your sick addiction to racial politics.
    I have also heard Christians say, “OK, I admit that Obama is destroying America, but I cannot vote for a Mormon.”  Such thinking is illogical.  Imagine: your home is on fire, and your family is trapped inside.  The Hell’s Angels motorcycle gang arrives at the scene, offering to go inside to rescue your loved ones.  How absurd would it be to reject their “God-sent” help because you disapprove of the Hell’s Angels’ lifestyle?
    Remember this old joke?  A guy was trapped on his roof during a flood.  He prayed for help.  Various volunteers came to his aid in boats.  The man rejected them all, waiting for God to save him.  The foolish man drowned.  In Heaven, the man asked God why he did not answer his prayer.  God replied, “I did answer your prayer.  You rejected everyone I sent.”
    America is on fire, folks.  Romney/Ryan are the available firefighters.  Thus, I believe they are “God-sent.”
    I asked a black minister friend to further explain this “lesser evil” thing.  He said the “lesser evil” in his mind is the economy.  While not disputing Obama’s anti-Christian agenda, Obama still wins his vote because he believes that Romney/Ryan’s plan will further the decline of America’s economy.  In essence, this black minister of the Gospel is saying he values the economy over God’s condemnation of homosexuality, over the lives of babies, and over freedom of worship.
    And by the way, this minister thinking that Obama’s economic plan of spending our way to prosperity is superior to Romney/Ryan’s plan is idiotic, nonsensical, and absurd.  I cannot believe that my friend is that stupid.  I believe that citing the economy as his reason for voting for Obama is a weak excuse to mask his racism, pure and simple.
    To all you Obama-is-the-lesser-of-two-evils black Christian voters, you should be ashamed of yourselves.  You ain’t foolin’ nobody.  You are Racists!  May God have mercy on your souls.
    “From a Christian point of view, how can any Bible-believer conclude that Mitt Romney is more evil than Barack Obama?”
    Well, I’m not a Christian. But I would have thought that the fact Romney isn’t a Christian either might be a factor for one who is?
    Still, as this guy seems to think Mormons are less evil that gays and lesbians, maybe that doesn’t matter?
    He also seems to think that voting on the candidates’ economic policies is absurd. Clearly not a rational ma – but then I guess the Bible believing part gave that away.
