Celtic rested and ready

656

Brendan Rodgers had to prepare a tired and injured squad in recent weeks as he competed for the League Cup, Europa League and league title.  He rested players at Motherwell, bringing criticism from some quarters, but won the League Cup, qualified for the next phase of the Europa League and sits three points clear at the top of the Premiership with a game in hand.

At Pittodrie we saw Celtic move through the gears.  Aberdeen are in their best form in years, but could not take a point despite two penalty kicks, one of which should have been tied in a Christmas bow it was so generous.

A little later, Neil Lennon took Hibernian to Ibrox.  Neil has a significantly poorer squad than Brendan and is even more affected by injuries, but he would not be defeated.  If Celtic turn up at Ibrox with the same attitude they or Neil Lennon had yesterday, they will shred Newco.

Odsonne Edouard looked like a player transformed after a short break.  His contribution was critical in delivering the result.  Scott Sinclair’s hat-trick thoroughly answered any questions about his form.  Both are ready to do the necessary on Saturday.

Why would anyone settle for a draw against them, they are pish, don’t believe they hype, take away the help they get from bent referees and they are at least twelve points worse off, they are pyoor pish, we turn up, we win, feck your draw, when was the last big domestic game we didn’t win under Brendan…….there isny one and there won’t be one this weekend at the bigot dome, feck them.

    Big boys ?

The state of New York , I am told , has a bigger economy than Russia.

Now China is a different matter .

  3. Garry,

Brendan has been preparing for this game more than any other game, IMO.

The NEW YEAR game was always a strong indicator.

    Fantastic.

Celtic and EVERY player is Ready to Go.

I’d still take a point, I’m quietly confident of a lot more.

If Brendan can pull this one off , then ……….

  5. I find the term idiot or useful idiot objectionable when applied to fellow Celtic fans.

We all have emotional interest in Celtic and we express it in different ways and at different levels.

Time to show some respect for fellow fans, even when we healthily disagree with them.

Insults only manage to reduce and distract from your position.

  7. ‘GG,

Looking forward to Saturday and our Young team going out there and doing their very best.

The Aberdeen game was something else.

    Celtic prevailed.

    Magical.

  8. MacJay

NY possibly has, but it’s in the pockets of a few who want to keep it there, never discount Russia the poorer the west makes them with their sanctions and the control of the oil prices, the worse they are making things for themselves in the long run, imo obviously, if Russia and China decided to join forces, and they probably will, who knows.

  9. Celtic have no divine right to win any game. If you took Hibs form before Celtic game plus their injuries we were nailed on to win, we know what happened. On any particular day anything can happen. A dodgy penalty, a red card, an inspired performance by McShagger.

I have absolutely no doubt we are the far better team but if we don’t bring our A game we are in trouble.

They are poor but are in second place in League, they are at home with a rabid crowd baying for them, it’s not a foregone conclusion.

I am very confident of victory but will not be gutted if it ends level.

By all means be positive but under estimating the opposition is never a clever thing to do.

I have no doubt that Brendan will make sure there is no complacency.

  10. Cosy Corner Bhoy on

Watched the vlog from the Hibs fan at Ibrox earlier.Looks to me like sitting ducks and very little ‘separation of fans.In addition the Club 1872 stand is overhead. Hope my forebodings are unfounded.

    Completely agree with your concerns.

We would probably disagree about why and how this deplorable and dangerous situation has arisen.

But we do know how the USA population has responded.

  12. Thanks Bada

Away games this season to Hearts, Kilmarnock and Hibs show this is by no means a foregone conclusion

Missing KT could have a huge bearing on the result

I hope it doesn’t come to finding out, but I fear we will, not us personally cos it will prob happen after we have gone, but for sure it will.

I am never confident, I take every game as is comes and if we turn up against them we win, no arguments, they are pish, and they are, but we have to turn up.

If we cuff them , and we might , I really can see a ” brek in “.

Wonder if Brendan would tell them to ease up ?

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I’d say he’d want to keep on ripping them to shreds, keep putting the ball in their net every minute Celtic can.

Anyway – Cya Saturday for the game on CQN. defo aff oot noo.

  18. 2 things. Firstly, as I said earlier, we are stronger all over the park than Sevco (possibly with the exception of goalkeeper) so another skelping seems to be on the cards with French Eddie and Scott Sinclair being on top form. I think it will be a relatively comfortable victory.

Secondly, I think I recall us being allocated the part of the main stand and enclosure at one point during the refurbishment of Ibrox. That was a volatile placement, more dangerous than Saturday. Missions flying all through the game.

So putting it into a wee bit of perspective, we’ve been there in difficult circumstances and beaten them. It will be the same on Saturday!

I am thinking more of my fellow Tims.

    Particularly my boy.

I`ve copped the humiliation of pre Jock Celtic.

How good is what we have now ?

Like the wee boy at Christmas .

Don`t ask for too much .

  21. Just saw story that the rightback celtic are after would prefer move to england or germany shocker… We go after him cause We think he is better that what We have. There will be other players who fit that bracket should he decline celtic.

No matter the outcome he is type of players We should be looking towards, good athletic youngish guy with decent pedegree and the potential to improve. Paid for by removing kiddy on squad players like allan, ddv, gambia, bitton, compper and the old guard of lustig, brown etc… Whose best days are behind them.

  22. We have goals all over the park.

Sinclair, French Eddy, Christie, James, McGregor, even Mikey Johnston when he comes on for a wee cameo when the game is done and dusted.

They will be depending on More or Less and we know how good he is when lined up to a coo’s backside with a banjo.

Can the Sevco back line match the speed of our breaks?

From what I’ve seen of them, very little thankfully, they are cart horses against thoroughbreds.

Can they match the talent of our midfield? In a word “NO.”

I predict a wee stroll in the park for us. Even bent refs can’t prevent a HUNIALATION.

  23. MacJay

I’ll agree about the present times – they’re fantastic. We are capable of humiliating them but I don’t care how we beat this mob – an offside goal, a penalty, an own goal deep in extra time, Whatever makes them angriest.

    1-0 will do me.

To paraphrase TET, I hate them for causing me to harbour unnatural emotions which only detracts from the person I am.

Hope they roast in hell – and die as well……. Again!

    That’s it, nae Mair drink.

  24. A wee bit of self indulgence. New Years game at CP 1966.

Game was played on an ice rink and was in doubt up to the last minute.

Big Yogi ran riot in his “gutties.” As we used to call them.

We dominated first half and only heroics from Ritchie prevented us from scoring.

Second half we turned our superiority into goals.

Perfectly reasonable to detest a malevolent organisation which has promoted an agenda of anti Catholic bigotry for decades

That`s the hun culcher I`m sure we`re talking about , not the individuals who are unfortunate enough to support them.

That game featured on a Panorama programme about religious bigotry .

  27. Macjay

It was a mystery how we went to half time one down.

Big Yogi literally bombarded the Rangers goal first half and even missed a sitter.

It was well worth getting our rear end frozen.

  28. CCB… I knocked back a ticket for the hun game.

My Bhoy wasn’t happy I didn’t pass it on to him but thought best of it.
