Celtic rested and ready

656

Brendan Rodgers had to prepare a tired and injured squad in recent weeks as he competed for the League Cup, Europa League and league title.  He rested players at Motherwell, bringing criticism from some quarters, but won the League Cup, qualified for the next phase of the Europa League and sits three points clear at the top of the Premiership with a game in hand.

At Pittodrie we saw Celtic move through the gears.  Aberdeen are in their best form in years, but could not take a point despite two penalty kicks, one of which should have been tied in a Christmas bow it was so generous.

A little later, Neil Lennon took Hibernian to Ibrox.  Neil has a significantly poorer squad than Brendan and is even more affected by injuries, but he would not be defeated.  If Celtic turn up at Ibrox with the same attitude they or Neil Lennon had yesterday, they will shred Newco.

Odsonne Edouard looked like a player transformed after a short break.  His contribution was critical in delivering the result.  Scott Sinclair’s hat-trick thoroughly answered any questions about his form.  Both are ready to do the necessary on Saturday.

  1. Tontine Tim,

A quick Google check shows it is not unusual.

I have no sympathy for Sevco . I have loads of sympathy for the victims and their families.

    HH.

  2. Tontine Tim,

I’ve no problem with a minutes silence on Saturday, No problem remember the souls of the tragic incident.

I was at the game, obviously at the opposite end and I’ve been in ibrox as a Celtic fan since when the silence was remember impeccably by us.

Do the same again, then enjoy the following 90 mins fellow Celtic fans, dont give our enemies an excuse.

  4. The scene is set,

All plans laid to catch Celtic at Ibrokes where abject failure against lesser sides will be forgotten, at least until the game starts.

No massed over celebrating Taigs in the traditional Celtic End , no bungling Kafflik officials , just the minimum amount of ‘bearable fenianism,’ confronted by the latest gaggle of misfits brought in by Seethen Gerrard who himself has more than once deemed them a rabble , but his rabble.

Rainjurz banned Willie Collum and paid just £6000 for the priviledge and having now virtually selected their own Rainjurz back up team, of John (Cheaton) Beaton Douglas (Red card red card red card ) Ross topped off with fourth hun on the run, Boabby ( season ticket money ) Madden.

You really couldn’t make it in Scotland, and all the while, Timdom senses the humping and the beautiful game to overcome all obstacles in triumph.

  5. may I concur with greenpinata, I was at that game, remember the cheers when they scored and then the silence, interrupted by the sirens of the emergency vehicles, remember bhoys that could easily have been our end.hh.

    Why?

  7. If we are a couple of goals up and coasting, i think it will be too much for the hun hordes , and they will invade the pitch, and attack any Tim in their sights. How many polis will they pay for? Not enough for sure, the stewards (unpaid btw) ,will probably join in.

So, should Celtic supporters, empty Celtic Park, until this PLC board is gotten rid of, after having put the safety of, Celtic supporters, and Celtic employees, at risk, ?

Or, is it just bluster from you ?

    Merry Christmas.

  10. Kev- thanks for your kind reply, but i don’t bluster old Bhoy, just posting an opinion. FWIW I would have refused the tickets,or taken the tickets, and handed them back at 12.30 on Saturday, unsold.

    Re minutes silence

We are better than them by a long way.

    Rise above it.

The only way they match us is when they (and/or their friends) try to drag us down and some of ours take the bait.

    Rise above it.

Not giving in on this.Forrest played wide right the fulltime he was on the park.Tactical eye my ass. Both my non tactical eyes watched the game.Forrest wanders inside every game.

  19. Thanks for the replies concerning Sportscene, but being a pest.Is Thursday its usual spot and time.

    Sorry.

  20. Turkeybhoy

Ruggyman is correct, Jamsie and Ryan alternated as a false number nine, it’s the reason McInness went hell for leather in the first 20 or so mins, Jamsie only went wide right, and stayed there when Odsone came on.

Broonie coming in didn’t allow Calmac to play where he is the most effective, hence him and the Wizard of Oz to put it politely got in each others way, but you carry on believing what you will :-)
