CELTIC TARGET ON A LOSER

1

FORMER Celtic keeper David Marshall, who has been linked with a dramatic return to the Hoops, was on the receiving end when Wigan were thrashed 3-0 by Brentford at the weekend.

The Scotland international No.1 went into the Championship encounter on the back of a run of consecutive clean sheets that amounted to 684 minutes.

However, Marshall had no chance of preventing the cash-stricken club from collapsing to defeat, their first since loss since February. Plus the Latics have also been docked 12 points after plunging into administration last week.

It was woe all round for the thirty-five-year-old shotstopper and his team-mates as Said Benrahma fired in a hat-trick.

Neil Lennon has been monitoring his former team-mate as he attempts to strengthen his goalkeeping department with the continued uncertainty over Fraser Forster’s situation.

Another ex-Celt in action in the Championship at the weekend was old favourite Scott Sinclair who was a second-half substitute in Preston’s goalless draw at Huddersfield.
