A very satisfying read through the MSM and Hun boards this morning.

The seething rage on the forums is blatant; the seething rage in the SMSM is bubbling under but they can’t vent it as much as they want to. They are slowly rounding on the former City Trader as well as staring the campaign to sell Moussa Dembele in the simmer already!

Favourite piece is this Sky interview with Warburton where he says he’s not worried about the 25 point gap! It seems that view is not shared by the Orc hordes on their forums and social media!

Two years ago around about when we played Internazionale I thought he looked poised for greatness and then like so many last year he regressed to being the player you describe. But he has done really well since the resumption and hopefully, as with Dedryk, his revival will continue. And though he was only on a wee while last night I thought GMS looked lively- another one of those players who might not get many starts but who could do damage as a sub.

I agree, GMS is a player I really like. Like McGregor, he isn’t a player that should be playing in every type of match but is useful at certain times in a season. That’s what I like about this squad.

Good Morning Bhoys from a damp Central Scotland.Another good win last night and I liked the way at the end of the game that young Henderson was giving the Aberdeen players stick for playing on while Boyata was lying injured. Well done young man you will do for me. H.H.

DAVIDOPOLOUS, JIM PAYNE Bitton has played well in the last 2 games (though, like the rest, was inconsistent in the first half).

If Brendan Rodgers can get the potential out of him he will be a very good player for us! he’s moving the ball quicker and getting into forward areas more as well.

He played a couple of very good long passes last night as well. His resurgence, along with Boyata’s over the last few games is a fantastic example of just how Brendan Rodgers understands man management and gets players to perform to their ability levels!

    Long may it continue!

They’re not very happy are they? But when were they ever happy? It’s what they do.

Think there’s a fear that they may not make 2nd in the table at the end of the season. Part of me wanted Aberdeen to win last night… :-)))))

I could see Henderson’s ability but not consistency.

However like many young players the strengthen with age and whilst I might be going OTT I was wondering if there was a bit of David Hay waiting to emerge but happy to see him developing.

I think BR is causing a lot of opinion changing. I think he is a good finder. He looks for the good in the players and tries to draw it out.

  8. JFH

I don`t think they played on as such, they just didn`t give the ball back from the resulting throw in and it was not a clear cut situation. I feel in a similar situation, our support would have wanted our team to do likewise.

    JJ

  9. Brendan could have fielded 11 lambs last nights and Aberdeen still wouldn’t have scored.

Another great prrformance from the Bhoys.

Craig Gordon is more involved in any game of football than any goalkeeper I remember at any time. Brendan uses him like a sweeper and the trust our defence and midfield have in him in tight situations speaks volumes. I love his wee dinks to players when opposition think they have him done. It does provide heart in your mouth stuff at times though for us supporters.

Boyata. Who’d have funk it? Often we judge players far too early into their time at our club but Boyata? Really, who’d have funk it? I think Brendan has the Midas touch. Is this really the same guy?

KayTee, this lad has the world at his feet. Another couple of seasons (hopefully more) and a few improved performances at CL level as he gains that experience KayTee will end up at one of the top clubs in Europe. Assuming Brendan doesn’t make us a top club in Europe and he decides to stay here to win the CL.

We did nearly sell big Jozo eh? Brendan defo had the luck of the Irish when that deal fell through. Big man can seem clumsy on the ball at times but he’s strong and his timing and reading is impeccable.

Sinky, just one of those players who is in the Henrick mould. Skilful, consistent, never stops giving or wanting, vision, goal scoring ability, will run all day, Tremendous talent. Opposition must hate playing against this guy.

Paddy. All I’ll say is HAPPY FEET. His feet just sing to a ball. If only we could afford him? Oh wait! Get him signed.

Jamsie, he runs like duck out of water flapping his wee arms but another who has been charmed by Brendan’s vision. I thought his time had come and gone at the end of last season. Just didn’t look capable of making that final step up. Always thought he had it in him but never thought he’d ever give it.

Broony is just Broony. Had his dips over the years with passing always having been his biggest weakness. He has stepped it up a couple of gears under Brendan though and showing a consistency I always thought he had. I’ve always rated him but did at one point doubt he had the personality to become the player we are now seeing.

Bitton is one I’ve never really liked as a Celtic player. Always saw his ability but thought him too pedestrian for Celtic. Much more suited to European teams. But this year we are playing like a European team every game we play. Playing to our strengths without much regard for the opposition. Letting them worry about us rather than us worry about them. Bitton is currently proving me wrong and adds to the team when required. He won’t play when SA and Rogic fully fit I imagine. But definately an improvement on what I’ve come to expect.

Gamboa, although dropped last night another who has taken the time to get up to his game. Not sure how much Brendan has had a hand in this or whether it’s just his ability coming through after the initial move and time to get used to surroundings. But he looks like a player.

Big Lustig, when fit is just reliable as ever. Top pro with great attitude. One player I don’t think Brendan has improved at all. He’s been pretty much the same Lustig when fit.

Brendan, well he’s nae Ronny but he’s awright!

I doubt Calum Mac will ever be a fan’s favourite but having players like him to come in for a few games at a time is fine. Our squads have carried lots of dead or as in MON’s era lacked depth weight but right now ours is not carrying much in the way of fat and has a depth in quality absent since about 1972. Or am I in my over Lemsipped state getting carried away?

    Jimbo67

  11. Jim Payne

I couldn’t possibly comment on whether the Lemsip is causing delusions – my first Celtic game was a 1-1 draw with Dundee in 1994. But you are spot on about the balance between squad size and depth.

One thing the last two games have really highlighted…how bad must Nadir Ciftci be in training to not even make the bench when both of our star strikers are injured????

    Re GMS.

From my lofty vantage point in the NSU it looks as though GMS has bulked up a good bit.

Not sure what gives me more joy, beating the sheep 1 nil or 9 nil .

I nil they are raging, 9 and its ach well.

Bid dead eye Dedryck seems to be the player we all thought we were getting when he first arrived. And can young KT get any better? Looks like hes been playing for 20 yrs .

Toughy one up next away to the tractor boys of Perth, hope the Moose is back for that.

  14. Marrakesh Express on

I’ve said before that my seat this seasons is 15 yards from BR, actually 4 from McIness last night who screamed non stop at his players to close down KT and Sinky, cursing like a heathen, giving ref, lino and 4th official constant grief.

Anyway you really do get a different perspective on the game down there. Things that stick out become a sharper focus are- the height and power of Jozo and Dedryk, the speed, agility and reactions of SS, the sheer industry of Brown and the surprising height, build, energy and intelligence of KT.

Been going to CP for 55 years and still getting educated.

  15. Very happy this morning, 25 points clear.

Even saw Ronnie at his pre season/ winter break training camp and even he was smiling, once a celt…..

Trfc result just made last night even bigger smiley face moment.

His brother Tim yesterday saw his shadow and predicted that Brendan would impose 6 more weeks of pain on other teams in the SPFL.

A question for the blog ornithology department. I like to throw food scraps into my garden for birds and squirrels. It backs on to a big field where foxes can’t seem to get in.

I toss out bits of chicken, cold meat, bread, pasta, even some curry once. Everything goes in jig time, the crows and magpies especially, among about eight other species, eat everything, well almost.

I tossed out some prawns and nothing, foxes apart, goes near them. I’m think it’s the same reason slugs don’t get eaten.

I’m half expecting somebody to tell me this isn’t a good idea. I’ve never seen or heard of a rat in my area Btw.

    Any ideas?

Honestly, thought our playing surface was like a bowling green. Maybe a snooker baize type is wanted.

Our pitch isn’t great, it hasn’t been since November. Watch any EPL match and the pitch is immaculate, i don’t know if they have some sort of rule. Our’s isn’t anywhere near their quality. Expect this to improve next season by whatever means.

  26. BCW- I’ve been saying pitch has been poor for last couple of months, without having a lot of games and a pretty mild winter up till now.

Are the EPL pitches really immaculate or is that just part of the presentation to support the ` Greatest League in the World` claim?

I’ve never heard of anyone feeding prawns to birds, not garden birds anyway, but that’s probably more to do with the cost than anything. Peanuts are dear enough. Maybe the birds are just a bit wary because they’ve never encountered a prawn before. Was it a Friday? Maybe it’s an anti Catholic thing.
