  1. Winning Captains

Many thanks for the update, and a huge hail hail to you, Paul 67 and all the Res 12 crew. Sticking yer head above the corn in Scotland in the face of bigotry is a brave act and one that requires guts and persistence.

‘Phyllis- not wanting a songs debate …(i know…) our songbook at Perth last week was deplorable’

    ###

    Agreed.

I didn’t hear The Black Watch once, unless I missed it, in which case apologies to the away support.

  3. Winning Captains

You and all the Res 12 working men have my support keep up the good fight

    We are all Winning Captains

  4. bada – it was bloody stupid stuff. I have no problem with the songs (some of them are just daft, some are classic folk numbers) but i do with the context. I wrote something for Keep The Faith years ago on the topic.

I think i called it ‘tactical retreat’ or something. Basically it’s time to set aside the songs debate, forget trying to convince people who want to hurt us that they are historical songs (and yes, they are) that they are not sectarian (we know they are not) because frankly the people making the rules, writing the propaganda etc don’t care.

If we really want to p&&£ off the Sevconians we need to drop the songs that give them an excuse to falsely claim one’s as bad as the other. It gives them no hiding place.

And I write this as man who has sung his fair share of Rebs in my time. Right place, right time though.

  5. Winning captains.

Sorry to hear that the scum are targeting you.

I have no doubts whatsoever of your and Paul’s probity and I wouldn’t even contemplate a refund.

    Keep fighting.

  6. I disagree 100% with those who say we need to drop songs that are not illegal.

They are as said not sectarian, so why in Gods name should the support refrain from singing them, set aside all the politics, appeasement doesn’t work, the more you give in to them the more they will want.

It will be the wearin o the Green if they have their way FFS, never give in to them, never.

  7. Interesting that the sfa are bring reported as having reached the end of their tether with Sevco. Only took 4 years. The Previous Ibrox club lasted over 100 years as the pet club of the sfa

  8. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Gary 67, sorry for the late reply.

Premier TV it is. I remember now.A number of posters, after the first round, had previously said the Challenge Cup was on Premier TV.

My heid is a sieve now.

I have grew up with them all my life, they seem to love a wee walk in Coatbridge, a lot of my good ladies family are in the OO for me I just nullify with my good nature, my Mrs was in it until I educated her, her uncle passed away and the wake was in the orange hall, she said its ok if you don’t want to go… I went and knew more in the place than anybody, a few wee digs “never thought would see you in here” was the main comment, I never answered being there for my good lady was my own reason

    No hatred in this household

    (It was difficult dirty OB’s)

  10. Winning Captains and Paul, you guys are an inspiration to us all.

Keep on trucking and take care,

  12. W.C. – Just reading back and read your post. As many others have said, you, Paul67 and the rest of the Res12 guys have my full support.

  13. Lots of guys asking me if I’m looking forward to the Rangers game. Tired of explaining they’re not Rangers so I just say no. It’s going to be a horrific atmosphere. On that note I’d love it if when they start their songs we stop singing, don’t boo. Just let them be heard. That way there will be no excuses, their bile, hatred and all round wankiness will be shown around the world

  14. TET – I get the argument you are making but there are a couple of songs that, kept out of football stadia, will keep the spotlight firmly on the real problem – the Ibrox klan.

It’s a question of tactics, not surrender. The act which is criminalising Celtic supporters for political and historical songs of comments needs to be fought. But it’s a different fight.

We need to think and act smart.

There is too much noise over this to hear the real arguments about acceptable songs at present. Let the orcs hoist themselves by their own petard and then we can talk in a more reasonable environment about why singing about the men and women of the old brigade really isn’t a crime.

  15. Roberttressel whilst I have some sympathy for your views on songs I would point out to you that what you are suggesting is actually achieving what the Huns want. Our silencE. If it’s not racist and it’s not purile then we should not be bullied into silence. And us not attracting the criticism of the racists who run Scotland as a reason for silence is cowardly.

  16. Gerry

We have all had our own experiences with them, some good some not so good.

I was employed by a firm from the Brig many years ago, they were struggling to get work, I was taken on cos of my non Timmy sounding name, it worked wonders, how sad is that, I accept it is changing within the work place these days, but it’s still bad in the proviences from what I understand.

I used to live in village where I was virtually the only Celtic supporter, one day daughter came home from school covered in spit, TET decided to confront the parents of the scum, TET was arrested and spent a fair few hours in the jail, called in a favour to get out and not be charged, the rest of my time in the village wisny the may west, but show the scum any fear and you are fecked.

I done a wee stint for a few years in Davidson Street in the old Whinha (for my sins)

  18. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Gerry, when I was growing up, the most used pitches in Drumchapel , were at Dalsetter. There ,were 6 gravel pitches and one grass pitch.

The gravel pitches were fully booked , we are talking about 40 years + ago, from 9 o’clock on a saturday morning to about 3 o’clock and the same on a Sunday.

The grass pitch was hardly used due to the cost of using it. I ‘m assuming the old Glasgow Corporation parks department didn’t want it used much in case they had to maintain it properly.

In saying that , there will probably be some posters here who played on gravel pitches might say their ball contol , first touch and toughening up was due to gravel or black ash pitches .

  19. Just on more thing roberttrussel. They will find a way to criticise us. No matter what we do or so. That Is the way of racists.

As TET has said appeasement doesn’t work. What does work is being bold and in their faces. Being unapologetic and unforgiving.

We must face the racism down and shame them.

  20. RT

While I see where you are coming from, I still disagree with you 100%

Appeasement does not work, there are not rational people we are talking about here, they are stuck in a time warp, you can’t reason with them one iota, it’s pointless even trying imo.

    HH

  21. RT – we have a great choice of songs, great to hear Grace getting laldy yesterday , leave the rubbish to the hun hordes and their non stop songs of hate HH

  22. Lots of rumours on new right back, the latest being West Brom’s Costa Rican international Cristian Gamboa but no word on a much more needed midfielder (other than the highly unlikely James McCarthy rumour)

  23. PLYMTIM

if the fans can keep their discipline that would work. let everyone hear its then and no they are as bad as each other crap. We are smarter than them, lets use it.

it will be hard to hear them but hopefully we will have plenty to laugh at to drown out the hate.

  25. Just a Wee point that annoys me, if Celtic supporters want to sing grace, please get the tempo, it’s embarrassing the staccato way they sing it, it’s a melody and a slow song not unlike YNWA, take it down a notch, but like most things I post I’ll prob. Get roasted for posting this, but if you know the song and the tempo sing it by all means, it’s like they sing it like girls playing skipping ropes, get it right, or leave it out.

I played regularly in Clydebank (DD & Mountbllow Tim) will know parks at Mountbllow….could never understand we got changed in the “dressing rooms”‘(use that term very lightly) a big cracking grass park down the hill……naw, we get shunted up to the red ash at the top of the hill, even when there was no wind there was blinking wind up there…..scored a few goals so as you say maybe the worse the park the better your touch :-)

Anyway it’s a good night from me, Winning Captains, Canalamar & the other bhoys trust me you have far more friends than enemies

Fellow Celtic fans, good night and God Bless

Our very own Simon Cowell …..

Hope you had a good day in the Brazen ….

Over and out some of us have the school run even on a bank holiday

Many differing views but we all want the very best for Celtic

  28. I concur that the SFA is behind the attempt to silence BT Sport and Chris Sutton. It’s been standard practice in the EPL for Howard Webb to do an analysis immediately after a big decision. It is quite refreshing to hear a referees point of view and he tends to give them the benefit of the doubt. It adds to the spectacle.

After Craig Thomson helping the Ibrox club to the points by failing to send off Forrster not once but twice the reaction to Webb has been OTT. The real target is not Sutton it’s Webb. A World Cup final referee is calling out the cheating…..sorry honest mistakes and they don’t like it. Hence Thomson trying to screw up the BT Sport schedule.

Clearly the SFA with Darryl Broadfoot ( former Herald journo and Rangers View ) and de facto self declared ” I am the SFA ” has started messaging all is fine between BT Sport and the SFA. Does the dwarf actually run the SFA , Regan must be asking himself.

Fleming is probably discussing with wee D , about who should ref the game on the 10th Sept. They know the can’t give it to Madden as he a well known bluenose and skeletons in the cupboard would undoubtedly come out. Thomson has now helped the Ibrox club through a difficult game at Dens and of course his track record of decisions against Celtic even led to a post match apology as it was so blatant.

Coco the clown ( Collum ) may be the only option. Fleming has failed miserably in developing refs when an unconscious incompetent is the only show in town.

Yep, wee Darryl is the SFA.

  29. Think I was probably the only one in the standing section yesterday that wasn’t singing along to ‘Grace’. It’s a steep learning curve but after quite a few visits to YouTube today I feel I’m more up to speed!

Might be an opportune moment to point out that the Standing Section has around 2,700 members aged (literally) from about 6 (wee girl in the row behind me, 3 spaces along) to 70+. (not me, yet!). The Green Brigade occupy something like 400 spaces down the front. And whilst they certainly lead the singing, there’s much more to the Standing Section than that.

  30. TD 67.

    I can’t agree about Grace.

All music is open to interpretation, the Green Brigade has chosen theirs.

As you’ve said, it annoys you, which of course you’re perfectly entitled to say so, hopefully that doesn’t sound patronising, it not meant to,but like the different versions of The Fields Of Athenry, it’s all about interpretation, in my opinion.

Don’t get me started on words though, The Willie Maley song, some people sing James McGrory and Paul McStay, when the song was first sung Paul hadn’t even played for Celtic, the words are James McGrory and Jimmy McStay, see moniker.

Hail Hail Tony, I’m bored and just having a bit of fun because you said you’ll probably get roasted, of course that’s another word that has a different meaning out there.

  31. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Auldheid, Brogan, Canamlar and Morrisey , you all have my gratitude for getting resolution 12 up and running and to Paul and Winning Captains for keeping us up to date on where things are now.

The bravery and tenacity shown by you all in trying to get the SFA dealt with for their mismanagement and lack of governance , gives us hope , we may get a result from all this.
