    Gerry,

It’s a load of bollocks. No reason why the Partick Thistle game couldn’t be played tomorrow or Wednesday.

Think I was probably the only one in the standing section yesterday that wasn’t singing along to ‘Grace’. It’s a steep learning curve but after quite a few visits to YouTube today I feel I’m more up to speed!

It took me a bit to catch on to what they were singing in fact! Shockeroonie, I am going to agree with TD67 :>)

It should be sung with a bit less tempo for full effect!

Might be an opportune moment to point out that the Standing Section has around 2,700 members aged (literally) from about 6 (wee girl in the row behind me, 3 spaces along) to 70+. (not me, yet!). The Green Brigade occupy something like 400 spaces down the front. And whilst they certainly lead the singing, there’s much more to the Standing Section than that.

100% agree Jobo. There’s a wee girl no more than 3 in front of us who comes with her mum every game; I also see the father of one of my old school friends there every week; I’m closer to 60 than I am to 50 now so auld Mick must be well into his 70’s at least!

You are right, the singing and dancing involves almost everyone in the section. I just wish everyone would join in the Ninetones chant though; that would be awesome to see!

    Just seen this on JJ:

JJ, take it you’re aware of @phantoml5088 account being suspended on Twitter, allegedly the account was run by Stephen Kerr. Possibly related to slandering of CQN twitter account recently re appearance of £5k advertising money for Guardian RES12 advert. Kerr was also rumoured to be posting on CQN under moniker name Kill Ultra.

Does Stephen Kerr/Kill Ultra work for L5?

I don’t recall Mats asking for an invitation to the hootenanny. And I certainly don’t remember him being told he wasn’t getting one.

    My friends in Celtic,

Saturday was a great day. I thought after our physical and psychological exertions in Israel we would struggle. I predicted a 2-2 draw. ( What do I know ).

We look physically and mentally stronger this season. What a job BR and his team have done in such a short period.

Greenpinta, I was saying the same thing to my mate late on in the game on Saturday. Our guys are just sooooo much fitter and stronger later in the game than they were last year. Look at the number of late goals we are scoring as well, such a change from last season.

Where in yer e-tims thingy does Fergus

not miss them and hit the wall ?

He’s saying all the things that the late Paul McBride QC used to say, whilst behind the scenes…..he was cooking up the Celtic input to the OB thingy to help the cops ‘smash’ the Green Brigade ?????

Ye see, it’s like this….Ernie Walker, in the 1st couple of weeks of Fergus’s tenure told Fergus that – “Celtic will have to hire Hundump for one season as, if you try to open Celtic Park to play whilst under reconstruction, it’s only Gealic football that you’ll be able to play as, we’ll(SFA) throw Celtic FC out of the game.”

Now, why didn’t Fergus go to UEFA about Walker ?

Was it because Fergus’s investment might be under some threat ?

Was that more important than, getting justice for Celtic ?

Was Fergus only driven by the money ?

Was he on his own because he’d burned the bridges with the other rebels who had seen Fergus without his mask ?

Was John Keane the type of rebel that Fergus liked, a subservient one ?

Catch ye in a wee while – phone call – laters.

    Awkward.

It’s awkward for Aek. Apparently he has an “old injury” and might get injured again.

Although – apart from his last season at City when he fell down the pecking order – he has consistently played over 30 games a season across his career.

    …………………………

Absolutely agree with you. The prospect of being confined to the Scottish set-up for all eternity fills me with dread. Bite the bullet. Join the English League 5 and work our way through the system. It may take 6 seasons but it would be worth it. There might be a possibility of the club playing a team in both Scotland and England for the first couple of seasons that could take us into Europe via the Scottish route. Maybe pie in the sky requiring huge investment.

Sorry GG. At any rate it would be England for me.

  21. Mark Warburton has rejected claims from Aston Villa chairman Dr Tony Xia that Joleon Lescott’s move to Rangers collapsed due to a failure to agree personal terms.

The 34-year looked poised to sign a deal making him Rangers’ latest recruit after talks with the Ibrox boss earlier this week but the move broke down dramatically on Friday.

STV understands Lescott and his agent were in Glasgow after a financial package had been agreed. The player underwent a medical but hours later the deal was off.

Dr Xia, who took control at Villa Park earlier this year, took to Twitter to say: “Lescott didn’t feel happy with personal term missed [sic] which the boss promised.”

However Warburton dismissed that version of events in the wake of his team’s 2-1 win over Motherwell.

He said: “Let me be really clear about this – it’s absolute nonsense.

“Personal terms were all agreed but the player just decided to keep his family in Manchester. He’s well settled with three young children.

“It’s absolute nonsense to say anything other than that.

“The fact he’s up here tells you that terms were agreed and there wasn’t a problem with that.

“It’s a big decision on the player’s part and we understand that. But it’s nothing to do with what I’ve read in the papers.

“We know what happened, the player knows what happened. To take your three young kids out of school is a big call on his part and we respect it. It’s unfortunate but we wish him all the best.”

I would only go to such a low level in Englandshire if we could retain the two club option.

I would bite your hand off to join the EPL, but in 6 seasons even that may have to take second place to a new European league.

I do have confidence in our current custodians to explore all options.

Or alternatively build year-on-year on success, not something Celtic have ever been known for, till we are back where we belong in European terms.

    I don’t mean winning the CL-I’m a dreamer,not a fantasist!-but in a position where performances match our attendances.

Regular last 16,occasionally further. Regular full houses.

Because the fabled European Super League WILL happen,IMO. And if we happen to be fannying around in the lower regions of an expanded English League at the time,we’ll have blown our chances for good.

Hopefully it’s us and only us from this country, I would love nothing more than to leave them behind to wallow in their own cesspit.

It goes back to last season as well. I thought he was brutally exposed in Europe especially against Malmo and Molde. Also stood so far off Barrie MacKay in the first half at Hampden it was hard to believe. He did the same against HBS and at the weekend. Not a witch hunt here but change is long overdue.

    _______________________

Yeah, he has escaped criticism in a lot of quarters recently. I was very disappointed in him last Tuesday and I honestly think he (along with James Forrest) was a significant contributing factor to Saidy Janko’s poor performance. On the other side of the defence big Kolo nursed KT through the game and covered well for him. As a result KT, who by his own standards had a stinker, was nowhere near as exposed as Janko.

Celtic are working on 3 positions a right back, a midfield player and a striker. Brendan wants them all. Numerous targets in the mix HH

  35. Transfer Window closes in around 60 hours. More TV money than ever before swashing around in the EPL coupled with massive Chairman egos and the vanity business model will see some ridiculous movement in those hours, imho. McCarthy may well move for silly money. Sinclair was a steal for us and an exception with such close personal history with Brendan Rodgers, there will be very few opportunities like that. England remains the wrong market.

Over the city, try as I might I cannot help getting more and more smug at how badly they have decimated their squad in favour of players with a desperation for years past. Their rebuilding job will be bigger next year than it was after winning promotion. And Joe Garner is their Wayne Biggins.

Our average age affords us the ability to risk a year’s wages on an experienced player we’ll get no return on. Just a year to enjoy someone who has been there, done it, can bring the boys on and the standard up. Toure at the back, another in the middle would be good.

But we’ll see. I’d go into the season with what we have before making late assessments or competing with the likes of Crystal Palace on wages.
