I don’t think anyone on here will disagree, even if it’s only to assure Neganon’ stays away.

  2. Cowiebhoy .thoughts and prayers with you tonight.

Regarding the game. From my seat we lacked energy and drive. It wasn’t imposed on us – it was there from the start. On to the next game. . Was a pleasure to meet Jim and John tonight. And the cqn corner regulars . Hugs tae dena, bt, oldtim, jamesgang, Kölncelt (thanks) Eddie, fraser , Tony, etc.

Seems last night proves we need to be at the top of our game EVERY game in Europe.

Disappointing result, most definitely. Puts our post-Christmas plans up in the air.

No excuse to come on here and post the same repetitive tripe we’ve been reading for years. There HAS been improvement on and off the field,to deny that does the posters in question no good whatsoever.

So 4-4-2 is dead they say. How well drilled was that last night from the Germans? We didn’t play badly of our own making. We were forced to play badly as the Germans were stronger, fitter and slicker in every position. However for all their superiority it took 2 stupid school Bhoy errors to kill it for us. Without which the Getmans for all their superiority looked lack lustre in front of goal. Our defensive line was all over the place way too often. Our midfield missing and a front 1 then 2 who due to service would have been as well

It was a pooey night all round.

Lesson learned – how not to setup a midfield against a strong, drilled slick opposite!

  9. We just seemed off the pace last night. A second or two late to press, going for balls that weren’t there to be won.

Yet it was two mistakes that beat us and we had a couple of chances.

I thought Erik played well. Kiernan did well for the most part. The others were just a fraction off and that’s the difference in the CL.

We move on. We should tak it out on some also fans at the weekend. Who do we play?

  10. Mwd- yep. I think the manager has to share some blame too. He changed things in the second half and despite us losing the two goals we were actually a bit better.

The last 10 minutes of little urgency was also puzzling.

  13. Done up like a kipper.

Very depressed at the any things turned out.

We had our moments but the game was over well before the end.

Even one goal would have made a big difference — just to show we could.

  14. We started poorly but we got up to speed after 5 minutes and we had the better of the play.

Good start to the second half but we huffed and puffed when all they needed was one sniff of a chance. We played as if we didn’t think we could win, we — the crowd — behaved as if we didn’t think we could win.

They had a plan in defence — it was pretty natural.

They had a plan in attack — it was very natural — tight in the wings / work a channel / drive forward.

We looked at times as if we were reading off cue cards.

    Hopefully

    Sedona have been learned.

Some performances would suggest that education is a waste of time.

NB + SB = We have no possibility of improvement.

Wasteful and totally lacking an attacking dimension.

They will play better apart but together they are now limiting the whole team.

NB in particular looked as if he was playing with the fear.

Beaten by a better team. We are a work in progress but, if Brendan gets the backing, we will get there.

German fans in hotel last night good guys. Couldnt believe our fans. I told them we were going to pump them in the away leg so sort it Brendan.

  18. BMG = Very limited team.

However they played with belief and had confidence in each other.

We played like a team of waifs and strays staring through the window into Hartods.

  19. Many thanks to those who have responded with prayers for my Auld Da

He has shown signs of improvement this morning, with improvement to his breathing- let’s hope they can move the infection he has, to allow his heart some recovery, and his kidneys to function better

He does still take a Celtic defeat badly at his age

On a serious note, still a bit to go for him, so thanks again

  20. Joe Filippis Haircut on

Morning Bhoys as my thoughts and prayers are with Cowie Bhoy and his dad. I am mostly happy with what Brendan Rodgers has done since he has come to Celtic however, one mistake I believe he has made and continues to make is he doesnt often play Dembele and Griffiths together up front. I believe keeping a 40 goal striker as a substitute is just plain crazy now Griffiths has pace to burn and can score from many positions Dembele is learning his craft and for me is not the finished article,Come on Brendan play a formation with two strikers up front H.H.

  21. A wee reality check last night.

Reaching the group stages was the aim, everything else a bonus but we lived in hope.

After our spanking in Barca, The Man City result had raised expectations but our opponents last night put us in our place which is likely to be living up to our seeding as a pot 4 team. They were deserved winners and should have been ahead at half time. The 2 defensive lapses are being used as an excuse. They deserved to win regardless of those and were the better team throughout.

Unless we can pull off an almighty shock in Germany, the Barca game, at least, will be a dead rubber.

My hope was that after the Man city game we could at least reach the final group game with something to play for even if it meant looking for the other group result to go our way but realistically we could be the team resting players in the group games in December due to the heavy fixture schedule that month.

  22. Cowiebhoy, hope for the best for your da’

Re bmg we are on the right road and Brendan sees what we see, we will get better.

Let’s look forward to Sunday and I look forward to the trip to Germany, HH

  23. My friends in Celtic,

Still gutted. Not so much about defeat, but the manner of defeat. Did their keeper have to make a save?

We cannot match the technical ability of teams who consistently perform in a much more competitive environment and whose players are in a different financial planet.

We can however match any team for fitness, fight and determination. At Parkhead I am convinced that we have to play a high tempo pressing game against better teams . It is the best weapon in our locker, bar none.

Yes, We may have to rotate the players as tiredness sets in, but to get the most out of our 12th man we have to play to our strengths.

BMG and such teams should be physically shattered after a CL game at Paradise, but last night they were never outwith their comfort zone. That for me is the most disappointing aspect of last nights game.

No doubt The manager and players will be as disappointed as me this morning, not for the obvious fact we got beaten but the manner of our defeat.

Absolutely no doubt BR will learn from this and we move on.

    Hail, Hail.

Sorry to read about your Auld Da, I will remember him in my Prayers, wishing him a full recovery.

    Keep the Faith!

    Hail Hail!

  25. The differences between us and them last night, in technique, athleticism, speed of thought, and tactical awareness were so big you wonder when we’ll ever compete in a meaningful way home in the cl again

We were at home against a team in poor form missing their striker, main attacking threat and an important defender with a full fit squad and players in form but we were a long way short on the night

In all likelihood we’ll end up with 1 point from our group campaign. It’s a very tough group, but it highlights how much the landscape has changed for us.

Getting through 4 qualifying rounds for the odd draw at home against the new moneyed big boys while winning the league easily doesn’t appeal much this morning

    I’m not even hungover

  26. Kingoh

I disagree that they should have been ahead at half time. We both had one great chance in the first half to score and they had another effort, well saved by CG from edge of box. Other than that, for all our poor play and their good play, if it weren’t for 2 stupid mistakes they really didn’t threaten our goal that often. Yes they were by far the better side in both halves but they lack a real goal threat which does give me optimism if we can cut out the stupid mistakes that cost us last night and did so against Man City to be honest, and take the odd chance that comes our way like last nights one piece of class play from KT’s defence splitting pass to Scott Sinclair.

I also agree with an earlier poster that we need to find a way to play LG. He will provide goals & runs that will open space in defences.

Perhaps on this one, Brendan should turn the clock back to go forward.

When MON signed NL there were those who thought it impossible to play Neil and Paul Lambert in the same side.

Martin proved them wrong with a vengeance.

  28. Marrakesh Express on

Typical German efficiency and an excellent example of teamwork. No stars but no weaknesses either although Westergaard was a rock at the back, and Kramer the midfield fulcrum very impressive. I thought Brendan got the midfield wrong but it’s easy after the event.

Had a good chat with some BMG fans in the merchant city pre match. A right good natured friendly lot. I asked how their club ranked in the list of Germany’s biggest clubs. Just make the top ten was their answer, which kind of puts into perspective the strength of league they operate in, possibly the world’s strongest in-depth premier division. It definitely showed last night and I think we can take some heart from that.

One of the older Gladbach fans, have skooshed, asked me if I hate the English. ‘Absolutely not’, I said, ‘only their history’. At which point his son I think jumped in and shouted something in German at him, probably don’t go there dad ffs or something.

I was asked about the Govan team but when I began to explain the liquidation and death story they said ‘no, we know all the details about how they died owing taxes, we want to know other things like why are their fans so different from Celtic’s.

I started off with Seville and Manchester.

Anyway a thoroughly enjoyable day apart from the result.
