I’ve attended CP for every single on of our CL campaigns. (Not sure if that makes me an “auld hand” in CQN terms…)
This group is – by some distance – the toughest we’ve had. Our opponents are top teams from the three top leagues in the world – and one is – in all likelihood – the best ever team to play the game. Like, ever.
On top of that we come into this campaign rebuilding after two years of stagnation. Last year we were pumped by Molde, for crying out loud…
Posters decrying our inability to beat these teams need to take the long view. This group is a step too far for us at the moment, but a kinder draw and I believe we may well have been competititive, such is the transformation Brendan has wrought.
I see the Daily Record – essentially a self-declared enemy of Celtic – is calling Toure a “bumbler” and a “zero” this morning.
Constructive criticism is necessary and healthy, but I’d urge posters on here not to do our enemies’ work for them…

2 wide players in Europe is a tough ask, teams stick extra players in MF and we can’t get any decent possession.Might need freshened up for Sunday,Paddy for Forrest, and a replacement for Bitton.
A perfectly reasonable response. When the natural emotions and disappointment after a defeat have settled down, I am sure most supporters will agree with your excellent post.

We were outfought, out thought, out muscled and a poor second in skill, pace and organisation on and off the park last night. The quietest I have heard CP on a CL night for as long as I can remember. One of those nights that I think we can recover from.

Yes, a strange phenomenon and certainly nor typical of Celtic Park on a CL night. I wonder if too much was made of the atmosphere likely to greet BMG and the support , as a whole, were not able to live up to the reputation. That scenario is common enough in many walks of life.
Think Simunovic will come in for Toure who was struggling with an injury towards the end last night. Anyone for Bitton would be an improvement and I think Griffiths may start ahead of Dembele (and score a hat trick ;-))

Still gutted with the performance last night.I thought it was mistake to split up Joze and Eric.Wether it would have made a difference, who knows, but Kolo made a couple of great tackle when they were through last night.Forwards did nothing of note.Biton,a man short,Rogic, apart from the sublime pass to set up Sinclair, got bullied of the ball too much.Broony ended up having to try and do every midfield job.Too much for him.
Lg needs to be brought in.Too many goals there to be sitting on the bench. This was BMGs best performance of the season,as was ours against City.It happens.Just hope there is no hangover for Sunday,as has happened to City.Brendan knows whats needed,I am sure he will get there.
Busy schedule coming up,so hope the heads are up.

Thank heavens JS never had your attitude.
BMG were there for the taking — our team had the talent but not the attitude or the heart to do it.
Truth be told we — in the crowd — were just as bad, has the GB ever been so completely out sung?
Not sure where the problems in the head came from?
However the team was sent out with a poor attitude and little self belief.
It is there — we picked up after a poor start and started to play with confidence — but we lose it all too easily and it is back to playing with the fear.
NB was shocking — just not at the races followed by mistake after mistake and finally a shot in the second half that screamed get me out of here.
SB played some good stuff, played with some energy but he never managed to get a grip of the game — the two incidents where he did the hard work winning the ball and then forgot to do anything with it as he put pressure on himself as he ran up a blind alley and then into a cul de sac so that they won back possession they had no right too will live long in the memory.
The issue is BMG had all this worked out.
They gave us the centre and pressed on the wings as they knew neither of SB / NB could or would create anything down the centre. Everything is side to side with them at a really slow pace.
Consequently little threat and it allows them to close us down out wide.
TR offered some threat but he only had a 50% success rate beating his man in the centre which was wasteful but he was double teamed most of the time as BMG knew that SB / NB were not going to bring the ball forward on their own.
KT(old) and ES were left to do that job.
The only way we were going to win last night was to ask BMG to play in Hertz strips so that we could find our SPL vibe.

First off, prayers said for your dad Cowiebhoy and your friend PADDYMACOZ.
Started to read back and I’m a wee bit bemused by some of the comments. We were beaten by much better disciplinedteam who have been together longer than us and know their jobs. Were they much better than us? Nope; they were much better organised. Were we outpassed by them? Nope; they just played more telling passes at times. Did they create much? Not really; we gifted them 2 goals?
Do we still have a scapegoat? Yep; Nir Bitton will do nicely; although he was sub-standard (along with most others), he didn’t contribute to the loss of the goals, But we like big Kolo. I wonder what the script would have been for big Efe this morning?
Is it the end of the world? Not in the slightest; we should learn a lot from this; in particular Tierney and Dembele will start to understand the difference in going to the next level.
Will it set us back? It shouldn’t; it should make us stronger. Can we do better against Gladbach next time? We can if we learn the lessons and don’t let them harass us as much as they did last night.
Still fantastic to be a Tim!
