    Showboating.

I wish Leigh would save that for when we`re three up.

  2. The post match mood was one of disappoinment tempered with a dose of realism. Onwards and upwards we go.

Ah well, a bit of a reality check. Too many players harried early on and that set the tone; Borussia won the tactical battle in the first 15 minutes.

We couldn’t control the middle of the park; they were far more disciplined than we were and their movement off the ball was far better.

That was a better lesson than the one in Barcelona; we will learn from it.

So are you saying that BMG were technically better than Celtic?

From my seat in the south stand it certainly looked that way.

We are a Pot 4 team playing, (reasonably well at times), against far superior outfits.

All our CL opponents should beat us.

That we competed as well as we did tonight, (0-0 less two defensive blunders) and more so v Man City, only goes to show that, whilst not there yet, we are not too far from being able to compete at CL level.

Take a look at clubs not competing at anywhere near this level, Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool etc, etc.

Rejoice when our team perform to their optimum ability.

    Support them at all times.

EC67 glad to be a Tim.

    Achtung Baby!

    Nice try!

As a Celtic supporter and knowing their history I’m still proud to be a Tim.

Tonight Celtic were systematically beaten by a technically superior side from the Bundesliga.

To be expected. So far in the CL group stage: played 3, pts 1, scored 3 concede 12.

It will end up being worse than our last NFL venture if you ask me but in my opinion you’re all missing the point as usual.

The point is (and I’ve been tellin yeez for over 6 years!) is that the Celtic PLC vision is Old Firm. Guaranteed pension for the suits. They dont give a rats vagina about you, the history, or any shrinking of hooped jerseys.

    Its awe aboot money.

    Yours!

I mean have none of you drawn any correlation graphs of Celtic in Europe and the local abundance of hunnery?

    Come on.

  5. Hunderbirds are Gone on

Turned up at Irish bar in Seville only to find that the staff were frantically searching their available TV channels looking for our game, and intimating it might not be available. “Eh, your boss okayed this on Sunday, that’s why we’re here” said I. Then Barca and Citeh appeared on the screen, and I was just about to go tonto, when the barman pointed behind my head to the OTHER TV, which showed the comforting, familiar surroundings of Celtic Park.

No sound, which I often think is a blessing.

BMG did a good job closing us down. We look poor when given no time on the ball, and we were given none. I can not believe Bitton gets a start at this level. Hopefully that is his last for a while. I think time out of the team would do him good. He has deficiencies in his game that he needs to work on in an environment that is not a game. He has abilities too, but is at a crucial juncture in his career as a professional player, imo.

Everyone else in the team can play better. A 2-0 reverse, when none of our players played to their maximum, is not so bad. They can, and will, learn from tonight.

The pressure is well off now. Third place is still a realistic target. We will have to play better. But we can play better. Tonight is already old news, we should look forward with a positive attitude. We are not done yet.

  6. Messi scored his 37th hat-trick for Barca tonight.

One hundred and eleven goals in 37 games.Incredible.

Last night we saw, Ronny’s team being managed by a failed Liverpool manager whose head could be put on a spike on Sunday night.

There are 4 players who’ll get a Celtic manager the sack……

    1. Bitton

    2. McGregor

    3. Rogic

Can’t disagree with anything you said.

We were beaten by a team playing in a manner to which we aspire.

    Forget the Barcas and Mancs.

If we can develop a system like the Germans, then we will do well.

Having said that, we do try and play that way, but, as yet, don’t have the players.

At a higher level, Bitton and Rogic doesn’t work. Both are talented players, but the energy and drive is missing.

We can, perhaps accommodate one in any given game.

I admire Brendan’d loyalty and support for his players, but I think that neither Sinclair nor brown played well tonight.

In fact, I that Scott set the tone for our slack play in the first ten minutes, between slack passes and getting caught in possession when over running the ball.

Felt sorry for Toure. He had been a stalwart all night, but when teams are putting you under constant pressure, they force you into mistakes.

We do it against the lesser lights.

Disappointed, but not downhearted at this stage of our renaissance.

I watched the Barca game, not that it was any good.

Two teams, whose managers knew each other inside out, largely negated each other.

It was just that Barca have the better players.

If there is a lesson for Pep, it is the same one that Brendan learned when he brought in De Vries for Gordon.

A keeper’s first job is to keep the ball out of the net and clear his lines.

There is a time to play short and a time to lump it.

    That’s it, G’night all.

  9. Cosy Corner Bhoy on

My ‘thoughts’ on tonight’s game:- firstly, not in usual seat PTL as I was in front of the best player that there has ever been going by his use of the words ‘fn useless’ almost every time a pass was ‘lost’ or a tackle mis-timed! Wish I could have played like him when I were lhad!

Overall, our ‘ best’ players played their poorest games this season both individually and collectively.

Gordon… great goalkeeping but if you can’t find a man with a short pass why don’t you hit past the centre circle as it will at least take longer to come back to you

Lustig.. Poor for him. Not sure he was pushed as he claimed when he got in the road of PR’s wee run

Teirney.. Put off by the early booking?

Broonie.. Good but never thought he was a centre half!!

Kolo.. Two mistakes in the game and two goals.. Them’s the breaks sometimes.

    Eric .. Superb

Bitton.. Shit scared imposter at this level. Gave Kolo more problems with ‘return’ balls than BMG

    Rogic.. Curate’s egg

    Jamesie.. Poorest game this season

    Moussa.. See Jamesie

    Scott Sinclair.. See Jamesie.

Anyway, watching live CL games in your own stadium is still fantastic

Off now to sunny(I hope ) Spain and the telly fitba’ for 4 weeks.

  10. It’s all gone quiet.

Time to catch our breath before Sunday.

Some time for Brendan to put the game in perspective for our players before the semi.

    Time to reset our expectations.

Time for some of our side to reflect on their efforts.

Time for them to ensure they don’t let the fans down twice in the same week.

I’m sure Brendan will be up to the task of restoring our faith in his side.

  11. Just in ( will come to that) – not read one comment on postvmatch

thought we were beaten by a very decent football team, very impressed with heir movement, played terrific wee triangles creating space and controlling large parts of the game, dictating tactics.

Good learning excercise for our young players, and should benefit us as we progress under Brendan.

Now had to go straight to hospital after the game, my auld da has been in since Sat night, and the family were called in tonight, he has a wee fight on his hands, so would be grateful for your support through prayer.

Probably the best of the three debates, but that isn’t saying much … on that issue, Frankly, i don’t think either candidate really understands the ethics involved. All we got was Cheap and simplistic sloganeering from both, unfortunately

The debate…well its like global warming…you have the consensus of every scientist with a PH.D. using logic and the scientific method and then you have the media dragging up every cesspit of a corporate clown for a “balanced” debate.
