  1. BSR- Wonderful tribute to Bobby, listening to McIlvanny on Shortbread, it’s a real shame he didn’t do more broadcast work,a hypnotic vouce, who would teach you as he spoke.

  2. Bada

Feel MJ has to bulk up as well. Yesterday he was being clobbered everytime he tried to control and turn his man. He is still young though.

  3. Wits…………..

    Thanks and HH.

Interesting to note, too the extreme trajectory of immediate coverage of Neil’s position at Hibernian.

In what would normally be in the realm of management issues in-house, we might have expected this to be reasonably treated as a fairly routine disciplinary matter…..with all attendant processes and procedures…but shorties coverage catches the eye in terms of how it has shaped the story to a very definite conclusion with Neil isolated and apparently dealt with, with remarkable finality…….

  4. Re the Hugh McIlvanny…coverage ……..his words are poetry and his voice – performance art, thanks for sharing BSR………..I could read and listen to that stuff all day. What regard he had for us and the appreciation of a journalist who knew he was recording history and treated the Game and us with respect. It’s no surprise we all returned the compliment to him and his output.

    HH.

  5. Watching Atalanta-Roma.

Roma one up in three minutes.

Defender we were linked with did not look very good on the goal.

Wrongside and weak challenge allowed guy to chest it into Dzeko;s path.

  6. On the one hand we have Hugh………………and way over in the ither korner we have “The St Mirren Fan “.

That’s the problem inherent to scoddland’s finest.

  7. ADI-DASSLER

Johnston definitely could do with bulking up.But our playing style does not help.

Far to many balls played into feet with defender already on top of man…

With ref’s notable tolerances of opponents playing through the back of our players it lessens the chance of a slight guy like Mikey.

He is very good at running at men with pace and control but we rarely give him the chance to do so.

Playing some passes for him to run on to would help.

  8. My friends in Celtic,

Don’t know if the GB banner was the right time or place, however Brendan Rodgers epitimises everything I want in a Celtic manager.

Being a Celtic manager is much much more than putting a winning team on the park. It requires social skills, diplomacy, charisma, respect / dignity, honour and intelligence.

Not many managers or people for that matter tick all these boxes. But Brendan does.

Our board would be prudent to heed the sentiments of the banner.

HH to all. The journey continues.

  9. BANKIEBHOY1

    Be fair to Mr Dung.

Cannot be easy writing rubbish when your sitting in the Paisley stand watching your favourite team at ibrox.

  10. GREENPINTA

    Time and place of banner?

Can’t think of anywhere else it would be more effective when asking the board to back the coach?

    Certainly not at the AGM.

  11. Philbhoy,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. She has also got the expertise of some of the best doctors and nurses in the world.

I thought this wretched disease was beaten, but seemingly not. Unfortunately your daughter is not an isolated case.

The NHS. Without doubt the best thing Britain has ever done. We must never compromise on it.

    Best wishes and HH.

  12. Atalanta0 Roma2

Atalanta defense not great.Castagne is actually playing left back.

Dzeko attacked space between Castagne and central defender ,neither were close enough though central defender more at fault.

Atalanta goalie makes a good save after another attack down same channel.

Castagne looks good going forward but not great defensively.

  13. Fan-a-tic

BR has always stated that he and the board get on fine and have great understanding .Do the GB know different ? And let’s get eight, before counting our chickens.

My comments above show what I think of BR.

    HH .

  14. Nye Bevans' rebel soldier on

1-1 in Paisley, loved they way Shaw had the wherewithal to keep

onside, …….a pet hate of mine is when a player in a wide position

and looking along the line gets caught offside.

  15. radio shortbread,

    from the sublime – mcilvanney

to the ridiculous – wiggy smiff

  16. GREENPINTA

And let’s get eight, before counting our chickens.

    Who is counting our chickens?

I don’t go near the ten in a row stuff.

And the banner said Ten in a row is not a project which i took to be a dig at our signing policy.

I know you like Brendan and never questioned that.

  17. Atalanta2 Roma3

Great attacking football on display but not much defense.

    Not typical of Italian teams.

  18. ST STIVS@3-07

Wiiggy is a wordsmith of note.

How can you not see his great literay contribution to society.

Toupee or not Toupee an aw rat.

    A true Scottish bard.

  19. prestonpans bhoys on

And so the myth continues on Sky, Der Hun are statistically better than last year, as has been documented on here and elsewhere , no that are not, point wise anyway?

  20. Atalanta miss a penalty to equalise with a Dixie Deans like effort .

    Then equalise a minute later.

    Wildly entertaining game.

Interesting stat on Roma goalkeeper who had saved 6 of eighteen penalties faced.

7 of 19 now though he would have needed a ladder to get close to that one.

  21. Well done the Hibbees as some on here will know I’m not a great fan of theirs, the club that is not the players or fans, however less so the buddies especially with the bigot “if deidco need goals deidco will get them” uttered the week we were in Seville at the rock bowling club in Dumbarton in the home dugout.

Here’s a wee bit of useless trivial about ching dungs alleged favourite side. There used tae be another club in Paisley called Abercorn FC, Mrs TT’s grampa, who died before she was born, played for them which gave me cause tae research them.

They made it tae the semis of the SC in their first 3 years of existence and along with us were founder members of the Scottish Football League but were forced out some say by their local rivals.

The club dropped out of the Scottish Football League when the lease on their New Ralston ground was ended at the behest of the local town council. This was ostensibly in order to build an Ice Rink, which did not happen for another four years. It was long accused that St Mirren had used their connections with Paisley Town Council to kill off their rival.

Huns then, huns now and huns forever,

  22. Asupporterwhogotlucky on

Good afternoon to all the bhoys out there.

I don’t really post much at all, this possibly being my third time, although i have lurked and read on here for a very long time.

A couple of things i have noticed in posts recently, number one, since the zombies got a huge lift on the 29th Dec, against a very poor (form on the day) celtic side, were a few on here were crying out for broony to be given the boot, if ever sevco needed a further injection of happy sauce, doing exactly that would give them the second biggest boost ever. Seriously wtf were you thinking even suggesting that ???

Of course broony and ML have slowed down, and have had some poor touches this season, but if you think both would be better out the door, and can offer nothing to celtic going forward, you are most definitely mistaken, in my humble (perhaps uninformed ?) opinion. Thank god Henrik never had a few bad games when you (Football Manager Simulation wannabees) attended.

The other was the calls to stop messing with team formations, now how in the hell do you find your best team tactics and positions without doing so?. All managers (great or otherwise) do it, i have seen it from big jock, MON and many others.

Celtic have had some great club servants throughout the years, one who is too rarely spoken of, again in my humble (perhaps uninformed ?) opinion was Jackie McNamara and i used to watch games where he would be the unquestionable MOTM, it would be so irrefutable that even Stevie Wonder would have a hard time not recognising this fact, yet he would not start in the next game, sometimes not even making the bench. MON would do this often, and in doing so took us to Seville, does that tell you anything at all ?.

It is very evident on here at times, that far too many people take on board the drivel and lies and propoganda that the scottish media spew out, i would suggest not to read that garbage, you just encourage them !!

I don’t do confrontations, ergo these are my personal opinions, so please feel free to give my ramblings the lack of thought you feel they truly deserve.

As an aside my opinion on the GB (without being politically correct or otherwise incorrect) is they liven the place up, and have more positive effects vs and bad ones.

PS. Turkeybhoy, you’re a voice of sanity on here and have a calming effect, i tip my hat to you sir

    HH

  23. Atlanta 3 Roma 3

Castagne scored to start Atalanta fightback after going 3 down.

He is very good offensively but looked poor as a defender.

Atalanta would be foolish to let him go as he is an athlete and can be taught in the defensive arts.
