Thats why we fill out a 60k stadium with a waitlist

    And they do not

Ex director of rangers concluded they were a west of scotland team and Celtic are a worldwide brand

    We have the numbers

  2. Maybe if we had hammered them a bit of complacency might have crept in,

We will have to be at our game from the start in Tynecastle.

Think Haksa deserves a start, Abada better as an impact sub.

Reo on from the start will make a big difference.

Main thing tonight another round of fixtures completed, 10 games to go.

7 more wins needed, a win over the Huns at Celtic Park counts for 2.

Upwards & onwards, Up the Celts

Watching my fav English footballer of all time – Glenn Hoddle – tear Spurs apart after exiting the CL.

Obviously I watched the Celtic game, but I’ve never seen him so angry. Scared me.

  4. Surely we must have 2 fullbacks in the academy that are better than we had playing tonight.

Bernabei is never a fullback and Ralston is just a poor footballer.

  5. PeterLatchfordsBelly on

Laboured performance tonight but got the job done. Neither full back had great games and Hearts time wasting and spoiling tactics were grim to observe, class told in the end. Great season continues.

    Nah man

Bernabei is Greg Taylor a few years back

He will grow if given time

Ralston has proven us (and a few managers now) wrong

1st half they both had a bad game

2nd half they were different players

    Keep The Faith

  7. Go tell the Spartim on

Surely some on here have better things to do than whine about fullbacks, then again they need to whine about something

  8. agree

Bernabei is never a fullback and Ralston is just a poor footballer.

have my doubts about Oh , but early days.

    Amen!

  10. So now we have 2 rubbish full backs, and Oh is coming under scrutiny.Big Matt, not the player he was.

Couple of weeks ago,Jota was getting it.

Remember when quite a few on here were slaughtering Greg Taylor. How has that worked out.

Ange must know and see things a lot on here don’t.

Thank God.Fine to moan about some bad passes during the game, but the game lasts 90 minutes.Bernebei was very good second half.Ange bought him, knowing he was more like a winger, but obviously had thoughts of coaching him, like Taylor.Have some patience.

    Chill all

Tonight was the biggest test we will have as a team for weeks

We started a few non starters

    Blew a few cobwebs off

Came thru other side easily the better team

  12. Not a fan of criticism towards our own players, unless it’s constructive, but if Bernabei & Ralston are the answers…we’re asking the wrong questions (imo).

They were not alone in having an off night…yes, they did improve as the game wore on, but they could hardly get worse, could they? Calmac was off it as well. Poor passing too often from too many.

Full backs play an integral part in our game plan so changing both, and resting our most creative midfielder, was always a risky move. So it turned out, as we laboured tonight. The opposition outdone us 3-1 by HT with shots on target.

Their keeper was obviously not 100% after twice going down. Yet we ended the game with only 3 shots on target. There in lies our problem tonight. How many more goals would we have scored if only we’d more shots on target?

Too passive. Jota’s shot off the post was an early indicator that their keeper was struggling to cover his goal. Still, we never tested him enough.

    3 for Jobo?

CCV was solid. Mooy hardly wasted a pass. Kyogo’s runs caused havoc – an assist for the 1st, and scored the 2nd (from another Mooy assist).

Those 3 get my vote tonight.

Hoping to see Johnston, Taylor and Hatate back in the starting XI on Saturday.

Both full backs were understandably rusty in the first half but grew into the game and had a fine second half . Would still have Johnston and Taylor as first picks though . Hearts , like most opponents , know they have to try to smother Mooy and Calmac but both take care of the ball so well , they can’t be nullified . Abada was a bit off it but Haksa’s brilliant goal will surely light the fuse on his Celtic career , delighted for the player and I’m sure we’ll see much more of him . Oh is kind of in the same place Haksa’s been in , only several months behind so let’s be patient .

  14. When we signed Greg Taylor, his weakness was in passing and in the final 3rd, not defending. Haha snow improved in those areas.

Bernabei cannot tackle or defend .

    He is a winger.

    Eventful game.

Hearts trainer on the pitch six times in first half.

    Muir is an idiot.

Hearts are a busted flush after 70 minutes against us.

    After 70 seconds against Sevco.

Neilson whipping it up for Saturday.

    Attacking Celtic gets traction.

Like his team, he never attacks Sevco.

    He’s part of the problem.

PS – Felt sorry for Tony Ralston.

I like him and he HAS been out for weeks.

    He had a shocker.

PPS – some of the read back of comments posted during the game is instructive.

The same handful of “woe is us” posters emerge when we are losing.

I really hope the Hearts GK Clark is ok…he went down with a couple of career ending injuries, in the first 15 minutes, but miraculously was fit enough to launch it,when he was under pressure…….really sick of the cheating now….

I spoke to a Celtic employee tonight and asked about the chances of the Jick Stein lower becoming standing.

No chance at all, was the answer

  19. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Anyone got the updated penalties for against league table available?

  20. Huns get a valid penalty.Ref never gave it,VAR did.Is this the 1st valid one this season ?

    Watching Hibs Sevco.

Hibs passive beyond compare at fourth goal

Clearly frightened to engage Sevco in the box for fear of penalties.

I never read The Daily Record but you seem to be fairly well acquainted with it. I’ll take your word for it.

  23. Wtf?

More from the BBC match report…

Maeda’s replacement, Jota, rattled a post with a bouncing effort from distance and Ralston sent an overhead kick too high, but Celtic were far from their fluent best until Hearts’ high-pressing exertions took a toll in the final half hour.

  24. saint stivs

Not often I get to midweek games but well worth the effort and eventually a convincing win. Bit disjointed for the most part but three good goals at key points in the game. Tony R wee bit out of sorts in the first half, Bernebeu also, though he picked up when Reo and Haksa came on. Getting away after the game a scandalous example of poor road and traffic management as you will find. The London Road bike lanes the height of GCC stupidity. Next stop Tynecastle.

    We don’t stop.

  25. My friends in Celtic,

3 points, good win and the journey continues.

We had the choice of a few streams tonight. Some excellent quality.

My favourite was a girl streaming from the upper Jock Stein . Her patter was hilarious.

She made my night as did the result.

    HH.

  26. Like the LC final, that tonight was not near our recent best form.

We usually enforce our play on the opposition and force them to defend. It took around 70 minutes for the first signs of Hearts losing faith in their tactics. They pressed us on passing out from the back and we escaped the press less well and less often than they did.

Consequently, we made fewer chances than we normally do. Messing up our crossing also reduced our chance making.

And yet, the one thing that did not suffer was our work rate. Kyogo came back to help the defence out and make sure we kept on running and preventing the back 3 (Hart, CCV and Starfelt) were considering another round of passing at the back.

I never scapegoat players but Bernabei, himself, must think he is a winger. I watched him try to get involved in the defence of a Hearts corner, even to the point of telling others where to go, but just before the corner was taken, he ran out of the area hoping to get the ball sent to him to initiate a counter attack, without having taken part in the defence of the cross. Now, he did do some very good attacking in the 2nd half and he is brave enough in challenging/bumping players for the high ball. But, he needs to stop the crosses coming into our box, and he needs to preserve a defensive line set by our CBs, and he needs to improve his throw in which will, rightly in my opinion, get picked up as foul throws. I have no doubt the boy has talents but he needs to become better at defending.

For me, the best of the players tonight were Kyogo- for his constant running and showing for the ball, Jota- for application and classy skill when he came on, and Aaron Mooy- who stood up to the Hearts thugs and a lenient ref better than most. CCV is unlucky- he was imperious but he did too much needless ball re-circulation around the back tonight.

Delighted with the win but Hearts will have taken heart from how effective they were in disrupting our usual style

Now, I better get back to reading the Daily Record- find out what the latest top bants are in the Phone in Hotline

  27. Really delighted with tonight’s result. Changes meant that we were not as smooth as usual. I love Tony Ralston. He was very rusty and had a very poor first half. He also looked a bit nervous to me. Bernabei defended erratically too during the first half but neither he nor Tony hid. They made their mistakes but improved as the game wore on. I enjoyed all the goals. I thought the Hearts goal was very good as were our own first two. Haksabanovic’s goal was a thing of beauty.

At this time of the season it’s a case of ticking off the games (anxiously) until we mathematically can’t be caught. We’re doing it with aplomb. It’s great being a Celtic supporter these days.
