    Another Highlight from yesterday…

I notice in the midst of the game that a flat capped Franky Boyle Hipster lookalike is speaking to

    police and pointing behind me.

Moments later about a dozen police / stewards appear and are engaging 2 worried looking guys who are being berrated by all around them. Eventually after a pitiful attempt to conceal their Hun identity they agree to leave …..

You can imagine the abuse that was handed out as they walked to the entrance ( a good 30 yards away) ..

Silly Huns and a jubilant Franky Boyle Hipster smiling away to much praise being heaped upon him…

  3. I am hoping for a Celtic victory v man city obviously, but perhaps a scoring draw is more of a possibility ? Having said that, if Celtic players ( and vocally the Celtic fans) can get right into the faces if these superstars then who knows ?

We were massive underdogs in the past none more so than against Inter Milan in Lisbon, however it’s a game of fitba and anything can happen ?

We need to hunt in packs and ensure that we don’t pay them too much respect ?

Some of their boys might no fancy it ?

I’ll be betting on a narrow Celtic victory, and a side bet of 2-2 correct score ?

Nothing wrong in being cautiously optimistic I suppose ?

  4. For me the biggest plus (and there were a few) at the weekend was Simunovic. He could easily develop into another 10m+ player. He has just about everything in his locker. Sviatchenko has been pretty good for us but Simunovic has a lot more potential…..really excited to see players like him, Tierney and Dembele develop (they will all end up at the top level of the game).

Looking ahead to Wednesday……I think there are 3 big problem positions (4 if DDV plays). Lustig (and I’m a massive fan) has lost a few yards of pace and most of the HBS and Barca goals against us came down the right hand side. Pretty apprehensive at the taught of Sterling attacking down this side!! Also both midfield positions (other than Brown) are very weak at CL level. Whoever gets picked there Brown will be up against it.

    attendance watch –

I am a bit surpiesed to see the official attendance as 53,532 v killie.

positives thats up 10,000 on the corrosponding fixture last year,

however, the celtic website was showing tickets only availble in 119 and 419. so are we really selling out or not ? or are we not counting seats sold and not turning up, as attendees anymore ?

i like accuracy on these things.

    Re Wednesdays game

Prepare for the worst and avoid disappointment. In a way 7-0 doing at Barca has set a benchmark – as far as If concerned any score better than that is a bonus. Remember we pick up £millions after each game.

We are swimming out of our depth at this level so enjoy the football on view – it’s a standard that will never be seen at any other Scottish stadium.

These lessons only help make us richer and stronger going forward. That’s the reality of it. I’m proud that Celtic are at this stage but pride at this level needs pushed in to a corner out of sight.

Just been having a swatch at hunmediocre and as much as a laugh as it is I’d like to what would happen if sevco were actually competitive this season and managed to win the league,I’m thinking this because of all their daft 55 craic so what would actually happen given the uefa letter to the Rest 12’ers and the evidence they are a totally different entity to Glasgow Rangers, would a court case or similar be needed to make sure sevco weren’t honoured with a 55th?

    A bus-front-seat full of lying-soul-selling-look-the-other-way-leopards.

  10. So, will Brendan do what is ‘thee’ only thing going on on Wednesday and, get the Cellic over the line ?

Or, will Brendan’s mid-life-crisis kick-in and make him think that he can go out and try to play Man City….like he tried to play Barca ?

  11. Somebody mentioned Virgil Van Dyke earlier. I also watched the West Ham v Southampton game yesterday. Virgil was imperious. He stood head and shoulders above everyone. He won every ball in the air inside his own box. Nothing got past him. He is a superb player. I also agree that he is destined for greater things. I also liked Fonte his central defensive partner. Southampton were a joy to watch on the break. Steven Davis is also playing very well for them. It was a really enjoyable game.

West Ham, apparently, are not enjoying their new surroundings. Big pitch, less cosy than Upton Park with their fans a distance from the pitch. While I knew that Karren Brady had negotiated a brilliant deal for them, I only found out during the commentary that, since they rent the stadium, they are only allowed to use it on match days. The players can’t train on it at other times to help them get used to it. Not such a brilliant deal after all.

Re Jozo Simunovic. I know he is just back from lengthy absence due to injury but I have also been impressed by his appearances so far. Like Virgil, he is confident bringing the ball out of defence which he does with a bit of pace. I loved the way he attacked the ball aggressively at the corner kick and was unlucky that Griffiths helped his header into the net. I hope he maintains this progress. I’m not so much bothered by getting a big transfer fee for him. As supporters, we have to free ourselves from this mindset and start to demand that we pay attention to team building.

I don’t know what Brendan will do on Wednesday night. It might be too early for Jozo as has already been pointed out but I think that either he or Eric can do a good job alongside Kolo. I think we can give it a really good go on Wednesday with a full Celtic Park getting right behind the team.

I don’t know what it is, but I don’t find myself disagreeing with any of tje points you’ve made this morning.

    ====================================================================

And , by contrast , I find myself disagreeing with virtually all.

How can you guys support an organisation , with whose current ethos you fundamentally disagree.

    BY THE WAY.

We won at the weekend .

The huns lost at the weekend.

    Celtic are a sporting organisation.

    Always have been.

    Always will be.

I’ve seen that type of treatment of Celtic supporters by home fans at Rugby Park and Fir Park.

I found it unnecessary, distasteful and unpleasant.

I’m not sure that it’s any more palatable when it’s directed at huns.

There is a guy, with a voice that carries much further than it should, waxing lyrical about thems performance yesterday. I’ve heard everything from “magnificent football”, to “best team in Scotland on their day”.

We’ve also had effigies and horrible people from Aberdeen.
