The inexplicable team selection and performance in Warsaw sees RD and JC fall at virtually the first hurdle, in the new era at Celtic. The Murrayfield return was a mere formality, which they even managed to botch, and didn’t have a chance of being a Karagandy, revisit.
Not concerned that ‘big buys’ didn’t arrive in time, for the qualifiers, right now I’m much more concerned that even if they had, RD and JC wouldn’t know who to buy, or how to integrate them, and set the Celtic team out on how to play football, in Europe.
I prefer to get behind Celtic, and not just Celtic without our leadership.The only way is up for RD ,and from what we’ve seen so far, it’s worrying he has a even included a formerly frequently used “I won’t change” cliché in most of his interviews.
The loss of Scott Brown has been overlooked by some, and tackling midfielders are scarce at Celtic, and this hasn’t given us or RD ( I hope ) the chance to see how the side would be balanced. Before he came there was little or nothing of a midfield creative, KC aside. Round this off with we don’t know the primary Celtic striker, but we recognise and alternate three secondary forwards. We all await ‘the chequebook’ which will need opened, to ensure Celtic stave off Aberdeen Dundee Utd etc, never mind, a run in the Europe at any level.
Snide hurting MSM fuelled hysteria surrounding lack of investment will be parroted ad nauseum on CQN. At least we have RD’s buys to look forward to – don’t we, then we’ll review his suitability, somewhere into the new dawn, after we see how his team plays over a sequence of fixtures. PL’s bonus should be reflective of the fact we aren’t even good enough, to get mauled in the CL group stages.
They have their work cut out at the moment for four in a row, and Legia Warsaw thoroughly deserve to progress, for being technically light years ahead of Celtic, with very ordinary but fitter faster players, properly formatted as a team. Not often you lose 6-1 on aggregate and get lucky with the aggregate score, and including Murrayfield,, Warsaw always looked the most likely to score.

Tonight was very uninspiring – though damage was done last week. They just played 10 men behind the ball and counter
Ronnie has made his life a lot more difficult.
He should have been keeping the players onside and not tinkering with our style until the qualifiers were over.
Our players needed evolution not revolution.
Now we need revolution pretty quick.
We need to start bringing through our youth and back them up with good quality old pros.
It’s the only way we will once again have a team on the park again that may not be embarrassed at this level.

Ronny himself is not the cheap option but the clubs strategy , that he is being brought into implement is. The experienced players now know for sure. They will never earn more at Celtic than they do now and they will never feature in the development of a team within Celtic that will resonate outwith the happy clapper brigade. I.e there is no incentive or long term future at Celtic

Teams find extra when they are clear on their roles and believe in their manager. He couldn’t lace BTM’s boots. Don’t get me started on Collins…….know him and he’d start a fight at a children’s party.
Know for a fact the dressing room is lost, the training sessons are incoherent and lack purpose………coupled with distrust of the higher paid help. Choose to believe this or not, but watch the leaks to the media shortly. Should be something in the press by the 14th.

Congratulations and good luck to Legia in the next round.. we weren’t good enough in the 2 ties and it’s a reminder that we are not guaranteed CL group football every season. As someone said earlier, we may need to go backwards to go forward and next season might see us NOT gamble on qualification before we move in the transfer market.
Tough to take but we’ll all still be Celtic fans tomorrow and for that we can always be grateful :)
It is the absolutely clear we are in freefall in football terms, a lot of those players tonight didn’t give a damn. Half the team linked with done transfer deals before a ball was kicked tonight, that’s always encouraging…
The tie was over 7 days ago, there was no way that “team” were going to turn that around.
I really wonder what the training has been like in the last few weeks.
Money isn’t going to turn this round now, we should cut loose the dregs now, you know they are. Get the young guys in and have a look at the highest paid player and ask if he’s worth it ?
Right that is it over.
Who in their right mind is going to pay to watch that dross for the rest of the season?
This result over two legs is a catastrophe.
The season is a write off already and we haven’t even started our league.
It will be a struggle all year long to win the league and we have no way to fix this mess short of what everyone knows needs to be done – get a manager with a clue and buy players – and so we are already looking forward to next summer.

I honestly don’t even care any more.
We’ve got two weeks to put a team together who don’t look like strangers with a squad whose best players are likely to be sold tomorrow or by Friday and bring in players to win a two legged tie when they will be actual strangers playing together if any are signed.
I hope people go to Celtic park en masse tomorrow and demand their money back. I was going to pay for Celtic TV for the year, glad I only paid by the month.
Once August is up I see little point in paying.
There are plenty feeling the same way out there tonight and crucially it is the only thing the money men at the top understand.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – when our rivals departed these should have been our golden years for this century. All they have led to is infighting, bad behaviour from fans and rotten football.

Very worried about what I saw tonight but getting into a blind panic helps no one. FF & Virgil may go in the next week, we will no doubt get 2 or 3 in. We just need to take a deep breath and hang on. Domestic football starts for us next Wed. Hopefully we can start winning a few games and confidence & form may return.
I suspect it’s going to be a nasty night on here so I’m going to give it a break for a while. For anyone who suggests that sacking PL is the answer I’d say two things:
* the Lisbon Lions reckon he has made them feel more part of the club/history than any other CEO – I trust their judgement;
* the people who would be celebrating most if he was removed will be the zombies.
As to Ronny D -I say give him a chance, no more no less. Forget the Europa League and let him build his own team – if we don’t win the title then that’s the time to replace him.

Ronny will need time, the perfect opportunity to start this was 2 years ago when the hun died. However we had Lenny in charge and things were going well
If Celtic want to become a 21st Century football club from top to bottom we need to start somewhere and there will be tough times we will have to experience first.

Well done Legia on your play tonight, you did well and I hope you and your fans go on to strut your stuff in the Champions League this year, if you do I will certainly be keeping an eye on your performances, and I hope you shut up a few of the richer clubs like you did to us tonight.
Celtic played much better this evening than they did the last time we met and up until the last third of the park I would say we looked like we have better players than them, some good safety play and defensive work I think where we fell down was in the cohesion of our attacks but that will change over the next few weeks. We will improve under Deila unlucky for us and him, this game came too soon, he can get a good look at the squad and strengthen the areas that need it and jetison the players that can’t cut it at Celtic.

Neil Lennon became the heart of Celtic and Broonie was his heart on the park.
Both performances home and away have been heartless but there is much more to it.
Our style invites mugging and no surprise we get mugged.
Why not just play with wingers and make it their job to take on the opposition instead of attacking full backs that leave gaps if they lose the ball?
Then there is the inability to take a pass close in control and actually turn as opposed to playing it straight back to where it came.
For 8 minutes tonight we were on the attack then came the mugging. I think it was Commons who misplaced the pass back to the guy who gave him it and we were under attack.
The next 5 were comic cut stuff as we land up to give Legia chances all from players in defence facing the wrong way.
We seem incapable of finding the angles to take a pass and turn on it, invariably being mugged.
There is also no out ball up front. Very rarely did Stokes or Commons hold up play so we need someone who can.
It was our lack of good hold up forward play that was our undoing.
A fair bit of rethinking and then scouting needed to put this right.
Do we buy players whose price profile fits before any fit to our game plan whatever it is?
Some serious remedial rethinking required.
I can understand a team taking time to gel under a new man but the lack of technique was inexcusable.
Parr they can stick their season book.

I don’t know about other people, but the team above to me is decent…. Spl top scores over last 2 seasons… Armstrong, one of the spl’s best midfielders… Broony, and Norways supposed player of the year. Surely under the correct coaching / management the team above could clean sweep domestically
Can’t help but thinking that in losing Sammi we lost not only our best European plater – by a long way – but also NFL.
I think the players’ distasteful attitude tells us more about them but also shows, in spades, what a key guy Sammi was in the dressing room.
Then there will be some wondering why we loved our Greek God?
league attendances will be UP this season i have no doubt….for a start we are going to be involved in a title race for the first time in three years FACT.
