  1. Grand start to the campaign. Competent and assured win. Pity about late goal conceded. Onwards & upwards.

Only about 10,000 saw the Livingston goal today. Some rush to the exit today from 80 minute mark. Strange.

  3. I see Laughatme only played for the last 12 minutes at Hamilton today.

Making sure he doesn’t damage a knee before his medical?

Had that gone in, it would have been the best og ever scored. What was he thinking?

  5. DD: that is strange. About twenty Tims in Timmy’s today watching the match but at least half constantly on their mobiles.

In fairness, during the first half I was too – checking up on the Irish ladies hockey team.

    See you early September.

Btw, did you bump into Thunder Road?

  6. Terrible traffic after the game.

Lovely summers day for unfurling the flag, meeting old friends and new, Celtic Park was bathed in sunshine and the fans witnessed surely the most one-sided 3-1 in history.

We opened up Livingston with ease when the game kicked off Ntcham, Edouard and Rogic were oozing class in the big mismatch, and it took the visitors till the second half to recognise that it was possible to touch the ball twice in sequence, and pass to each other. Ntcham made the bullets for others to fire, and he sprayed them all day.

James Forrest sparkled including in his defensive duties and when Edouard scored directly from Livingston’s only corner to make it two, the proverbial cricket score, looked likely. Scott Brown enjoyed his day more withdrawn from any midfield jousts, he still rules the new Celtic pitch, and doesn’t put a foot wrong, even when he’s ‘man marked’ by his ex Hibs pal.

Celtic pushed on for goals in the second half and it was Rogic defying logic with a mazy run that came with the nearest of misses from the tightest of angles. The Griff lapped up the adulation at the Celtic end as he stretched, and couldn’t wait to get on to show his first touch wasn’t rusty. Unfortunately after some brilliant turns his second was, and having done the hard bits he missed at least two snips, as the ‘all blacks’ tried desperately to keep the score down.

Kenny Miller was booked when he attempted to out jump the tallest man on the park by using his elbow for leverage and his side at times resorted to the industrial. But his goaline clearances and the unaccustomed bookings he’ll now receive, won’t keep Livi up, on this showing.

Jozo played himself neatly into the side on Wednesday, where it’ll likely be

Lustig, Ajer, Simunovic and the returning Kieran Tierney who relieved Jonny Hayes after the wee Dubliner’s lung busting shift.

How’s hols going mhate ? I went on boat trip to Ailsa Craig yesterday and had 2 hrs ashore , its a magical island ! Did you know they used to send Catholics there in 16th Century ?

  8. BSR

Enjoyed yer wee match report – as always, but if you’d asked me a couple of years ago if I thought James Forrest and “sparkled” belonged in the same sentence, I’d have suggested a trip round to the ole Vogue bar for some liquid medical therapy (LMT).

    Sftb,

    Hope you’re ok partner.

On a personal note I’m thinking we bloggers must do everything we can to discourage our fans from attending snake mountain. It’s gone beyond a game now and the last month has shown it is not safe to be considered Catholic on the streets of Scotland anymore. I truly,,no drama here I mean genuinely,,,have some big fears about what could happen. I don’t think it’s any exaggeration to say that the rung on the ladder they are on is taking lives,,and we both know we will win and it will get ugly. The cops have shown they are not impartial and can be considered part of the problem.

If they club won’t speak I will with all I’ve got and I would appreciate if you joined me in this. I will send Paul an email explaining why I believe the lead articles coming up should also try to sway our fans purely for safety sake.

    Rest and relax

    Hail Hail

  10. Park Rd 67.

    How did Girvan get on?

Cumbernauld won 3.0 down at Whifflett.

Paddy has been injured since cup final but came on for last 20 mins and missed 3 good chances, just as well it was 3.0 at the time.

Dallas’ Bankies won too, 3.0 also I think. I see Wed fixture down at Girvan has been rearranged.

Interesting about Ailsa, I had no idea about that.

    Hail Hail

  12. Katie Mullan, i hope that your achievements are a reflection or, an indication that you, and your magical country, are on the right side of history. HH

Katie Mullan, is the captain of the Ireland women’s hockey team.

    Good luck ghirl’s.

Bankies thumped Yoker 6-0 on Wednesday in the big local derby. Good to see they won again today. All they need is a stadium now. ?

  14. Kenny Miller, after the game.

I’m proud of my players, because that’s the best team we will play this season.

    Kenny knows.

    Hail Hail

  15. PR67: having a great time, thanks. Average temp is around 28-30 degrees. Not affected by extreme temperatures like inland/Portugal. Will be here for another couple of weeks and will then have a week’s r n’ r before I go back to SFTB’s work mode

I knew Ailsa Craig was inhabited until 1950s and that curling stones came from the island but wasn’t aware of Catholics being sent there, presumably banished?

On the school tour, as we passed by, I used to tell the students it was called Muffin Island and that cup cakes and muffins originated there:-)

    Hope you are well.

  16. D.D.

That’s a cracking start to the, season for them.

It’s also good to win the local Derby.

Cumbernauld beat Kilsyth Rangers 1.0 on Monday in their local derby.

    Hail Hail

  17. Thought we played magic today could have scored a lot more, switched off last few minutes but not Ollie Ntcham :(,hope his injury is not too bad.

Thought Rogic,Ntcham and Broonie were outstanding.

  18. Coming back from the game on the M,8 heading East, went pass the Heart’s Bus,nice even had its Crest on it,us we still use a bluenose director’s Buses,Parks, absalout disgrace, also Heart’s build a new main Stand,so in my opinion that’s 2 things that need to get done,

  19. Mahe 7.45 .

Trust me . It’s safe to be considered a Catholic on the streets of Scotland.

There’s a poisonous few who might put you under threat, but the circumstances or perfect storm would have to be in place.

The large majority of young folk , certainly the educated or properly brought up , don’t give a Bombay whether you worship or where you worship, be it chapel, church, synagogue or mosque.

It will only ever be dangerous when the haters are large in number, and fuelled with drink or drugs. Otherwise they don’t act .

    They certainly don’t do square go’s .

BMUWCP of this parish once posted , that he has many Hun pals . Huns but still pals .

I ain’t got many but do have them.

When in their company, which is generally, consuming copious amounts of alcohol, there’s 2 subjects that are left out .

    Glasgow derbies & politics.

No common ground. Trust me also that they’ve been avoiding talking about fitba , like the plague in the last 6 years.

Scotland ( or some of the folks in it ) definitely has a problem with a multi cultural society, it just chooses its moments when to express it .

If you’re ever in Ayrshire, you can discover it for yourself. Fear is often worse than the real experience.

Compared with the fires you described last night, it’s a strol in the park . HH

  20. Jungle: I know very little about hockey, let alone women’s’ hockey.

Earlier in the year I met a couple of girls who told me about their love of the game. They told me about the World Cup and that they would be attending as spectators. They also hoped to represent Ireland in the near future. At the time, apart from their enthusiasm, it meant very little to me.

I was really impressed with these girls as they were passionate and committed to a sport which is very much a minority sport here.

Seven of the quarter finalists were professional teams so for Ireland to qualify for the World Cup final is an outstanding achievement. Fair play to RTÉ sport who have televised the latter stages.

My wife and two of my sons were glued to the match at home while I kept up to date via the RTÉ player live commentary feed.

  21. Delaneys Dunky on

The Bankie diehards who went to Irvine today will be delighted they took an Ayrshire scalp today. Ayrshire teams are their achilles heel.

    Mon the Paper Hankies!

  22. Mahe

Spot on – our bhoys would be cattle to the slaughter at Ipox. The situation now is far worse than the 60’s and 70’s

Not because sectarianism is worse but they are right up against it financially and their desperate fans are allowed to run wild by Olive Scotland

  23. The 800 fans going to Castle Greyskull, shouldn’t be discouraged , Celtic Football Club, should send the tickets back to them, think of our own fans for a change, Don’t put them in danger, and if God forbid , anything happens to them,Peter Lawell and co , will be responsible,so do the right thing send the tickets back, and tell them the same no more away tickets for there fans,at Celtic Park.

  24. Evening all.

Entertaining win this afternoon. Could/ should have been a lot more.

Here’s hoping Ntcham is fit for Wednesday.

My mate who watched it in Alcudia (in the Smugglers Bar, replete with Union Jack) wishes me to thank who it was who recommended said hostelry. Sorry I can’t remember who made the suggestion.

  25. MAHE THE MADMAN, hope you got my e-mail my fenian friend, Scotland is Scotland wont change until the freemasons and ludge members gradualy get frozen out, when that will be uknown territory, but one thing we cant all ignore our forefathers are looking down waiting.hh.

  26. Moravcik 67 has tweeted potential Europa league draws for Monday.

UEFA have carved them up into small groups.

If Hibs beat Molde then almost certainly they will have a tough 4th round tie.

The Huns will not play any of the big guns, if they put out Maribor, I think this is because Maribor are a seeded team and they will take their place if they beat them. The hardest team that I could see is Atalanta, unbelievably Progres are in their wee group of potential opponents.

If we lose to AEK, we will be seeded in final qualifying round, a real mixed bag that we could play, but on ratings the hardest opponents for us could be Ludogorets, but hopefully we will defeat AEK and the Europa won’t matter.

    Hail Hail

  27. Evening CQN

A good win today at what seemed like a cantered pace.

We could have scored at least 2 or 3 more.

    Bring on the Greeks.

The control and great shot by Mik Lustig and the chance for Griff when he went round the keeper then fluffed it, should have seen us 5-0 up. Easy today.

  29. DAVID66. didn’t see the game but by all accounts we were miles on top how is cheeko.hh.

  30. If something happens to the 800 at ibrox the board will have blood on their hands. The mob r ready 2 blow. We will win and that makes them dangerous. Celtic fans need to take their concerns to the board. The police won’t protect us. Ps. If any1 doesn’t want their ticket I’ll take it.

  31. Delaneys Dunky on

    Guiseppe

If Celtic take tickets for doodome and sell them for £49, each ticket should come with a free chib.
