  1. Anyone any idea of when the league game v Sevco will be? Week-end after

    the semi?

  2. SANDMAN, love you to bits man, but the one equation you missed was the men in black, our great club has to negotiate all kinds of hunnish behaviour, and beat all of the barstewards at their own game, ive got no problem we will beat the sevco, but can we beat the establishment.hh.ktf.

Why all the negativity,Celtic will be unbeaten for the rest of the season, the bad games are behind us,nearly at full strength, team wise,so what’s the problem.

    ——————————————————

    Nearly full strength?

In numbers perhaps but in game fitness hardly.

    Armstrong, Hayes and Griff out

    Lustig suspended

Boyata? Almost certainly out but if passes a fitness test hasn’t played for several weeks

Paddy? No game time since November

Tom R? About a game and a half played since September (I think)

Compper? Played maybe half a dozen first team games in a calendar year

Charly? Young player trying to adjust.

So while I think we have a much better squad overall they had a more stable first 14/16 since January.

Will the semi likely be Saturday or Sunday?

Flying home from hols on the 14th. It will be a 12.15/30 KO so wouldl be in the air.

    On BBC or Sky?

If BBC I can record it. I don’t subscribe to Sky and watch our games with a Now TV day pass.

Sod’s law says Saturday on Sky.

Police and Motherwell v Killie churning up the pitch the day before says Sunday.

    I reckon it’ll be Sunday?

Thank you and the same to you

everyone has their reasons for going or not going to games wherever and whenever they are

have to agree with you re:cqn its a great place with a wide range of views but a common thread of being Celtic supporters and that’s good enough for me

    Same VP.

Not making any predictions, however I’m not concerned about the monkey team in the slightest.

I can see Celtic scoring goals in my mind though, that is all.

GP-C12- – thank you , great job clearing roads and pavements around CP yesterday

  8. So we get the tribute act, no real surprise.

I’m looking forward to the media build this up, giving them such hype that will have the hordes believe they can stop the double treble. They might even convince Murty and a few of their players.

Remember, it’s the hope that kills them.

Professional and focused and we will see them off.

    Couldn’t agree more HH

  12. It’s down to Celtic. 12 games for a double treble, 3 against the Huns. We cannot rely on other teams, we need to put them down. If we play well we can win the last 12 games. Beat them in all 3 games and they could implode. A double treble could destroy their new found confidence and break their hopes. This is our chance to put thm down.

For next Sunday. I will be in the Houston House hotel near Uphall.

Could anyone please tell me where would be the best place to watch the game in that area if the hotel is not showing it.

I have seen the Livingston Emerald club and the Craigshill Shamrock club which seen quite close to each other.

Does anyone know if entry to either of these bars would be restricted due to the fixture concerned?

The only problem we have, and it’s not a bad problem to have – does Brendan start with Od Ed or Scott Sinclair?

    Doc @7:00

Exactly m8, let them build themselves up, mcColl on Sportscene looked full of expectations, three defects within two months will make their ST sales for next season plummet :0)

  16. Our semi will be on SKY I’m sure of that, the last two semi’s v thems have been Sunday’s. If Aberdeen are involved they will play on the Saturday as they’ll get a bigger crowd that day.

  17. My friends in Celtic.

Who is under the most pressure until the end of the season?

I think it’s us and I fully expect our players to respond. If we fail to win the double treble, many of us will ( rightly or wrongly) regard the season as a disappointment

If Murty beats us and comes second in the league it will be regarded as a success . If he knocks us out the cup his job will be secured and the forces of darkness will be euphoric that they have denied us a historic double treble.

Let’s not kid ourselves, the stakes are high and having a better squad is in itself no guarantee of success.

We must match them for effort and desire.

I can only imagine what I will feel like if we lose to the huns, I want our players to share that feeling of despondancy and ensure that it never materialises.

    HH and COYBIG. History awaits.

  18. We have only ever played Rangers* 10 times.

We have won 7 and drawn 3, 1 of which we subsequently lost in a penalty shoot out.

We have never lost a game of football against them.

We have never celebrated drawing a game against them.

We have scored 22 goals and conceded 6.

At Ibrox we have won 3 out of 3 with a goal difference of 9 – 2.

By the end of the season we will have played them 13 times in my lifetime.

I honestly cannot see us EVER losing to them. Particularly as they may be in their penultimate season ;-)

    7 more sleeps.

  19. Murty is full of it, and saying all the usual tripe need big shoulders etc, I wonder who is working him from the back, Celtic have a week to prepare with and without the ball, like other posters have said 2 up both Moussa and Odsonne have good pace added to JF then trickery of Roberts , I dont see any difficulty, victory next week and he can hand his suit back for the next guy.

  20. Brendan must instil it in to our players to beat Sevco soundly in the three games. We need to sicken them and their media fans.

    BIG PACKY,

It was me who mentioned Stevie. Can’t say I rated him compared to Joe McBride but he was my late Uncle Eddie’s favourite player. And, of course, he scored the most important goal in our history.

*and yet if Joe McGoals had been fit then Stevie might not have played in the final. We all love tae reminisce about Billy’s heider fae another Charlie Gallagher corner against Vojvodina but it was Stevie who scored the equaliser that magical night.

He was born in the Garngad and is one of only 3 centre forwards from there to play for Scotland, the other 2 are James Edward and a wee thorn in big Billy’s side called jim forrest.

Although a Junior international Stevie was a late developer signing for us at the age of 23, but that could be put down to national service as well as a serious illness he had in his late teens, he suffered from meningitis and was at one time given 3 weeks to live, that only came to our attention when Motherwell and Scotland winger Andy Weir landed in a coma with the same disease 2 years after Stevie signed for us and one of his first visitors was Stevie. Incidentally, mild mannered Andy one of the famed ancell babes main claim to fame was a left hook he threw at the thug shearer in a game at hades.

Celtic were pretty poorly run then and often blew hot and cold, after making his debut in a 1-2 loss at Parkheid tae Airdrie he was left out of the side for the rest of the season, one in which we beat the cup holders Bully Wee in a replay at Shawfield 4-3 and deidco 2-1 with their goal being a last minute consolation one only tae lose 0-4 tae the Buddies in the semi and yet beating the calvinists in the last game of the season where a draw would have given them the title over deidco who had lost with a similar score tae the sheep at hades, the same artiodactyla side we had gubbed 4-0 at hame 3 weeks previously.

That final game of the season we were able tae field a side containing Neilly Mochan, Dunky Mackay (at right half???), Bobby Evans, Bertie Peacock, Eric Smith all internationals and a young ten thirty on the left wing, however we also had Alec (Alice) Byrne at centre. Bob Kelly couldnae run a ménage.

After a brutal start tae the next season, out of the LC early doors after losing tae Raith, the Harry Wraggs and Airdrie in our first 3 games we also lost 2 out of 3 of our early Leagues games both against deidco and the calvinists Stevie was drafted intae the side for the visit tae Starks Park and scored 2 from the right wing in a 3-0 victory.

Although he didn’t score in a 1-1 tie with the Bully Wee in John Fallon’s debut he did enough to retain his place and followed up with 2 more at Gayfield. He was left out of the side after the Wolves floodlight game but it seems that was to give amateur Malcolm Slater a game, he had lost 2 of his brothers in a drowning accident that summer and was allowed to join his hometown Buckie Thistle after this on loan eventually having his contract terminated at the end of that season.

We were really a poor side and Stevie drifted out of the team only to be recalled after a dismal 1-1 tie with relegation bound Stirling Albion at home, a week later and just over a year after signing he scored a magnificent heider from the edge of the box in the semi against deidco, a game we could have won but in true Celtic fashion succumbed tae a 1-4 defeat in the replay 4 days later.

Approximately 18 months later Stevie came on as a sub for the Bear in a friendly against the European “Gods” Real Madrid, we were already 2 goals down when Gento scored a 3rd, within a minute Stevie equalised and had another chalked off, if that one had stood I honestly believe we would have won, if not at least a draw.

That night the Celtic cha cha cha was first aired and nobody left the park until the players came out of the bath and did a lap of honour much tae the consternation of the Real players who remarked on our support, if this is what they are like in defeat what will they be like when they win something. May 26 1967 soon answered that in another raucous Parkheid night when we brought the Big Cup home to rest in Paradise.

After that game Bob Kelly said that he had found his secret weapon against the continentals, as they were called then, Stevie Chalmers; they would not be able to contain his energy and running. Of course the smsm mocked Bob laughingly calling Stevie DiStephanie, they were laughing in the other side of their twisted faces 4 years, 8 months, 2 weeks and 1 day later.

Even during our years in the wilderness Stevie actually gained 5 Scottish League and 4 full international caps, in fact in his last appearance for his country the greatest player that ever kicked a ball IMHO presented Stevie with his shirt after the game, this was a tradition with the great man to do this to the opposing player that impressed him the most. This was a Scotland side that contained baxter, Bremner and Greenock’s pride and joy Charlie Cooke as well as their greatest ever player.

When big Billy went up to lift the European Cup it was quite fitting that a Celtic great should score the winner, a player as I said earlier who might not have played if Joe had been fit. When I look back at some great Celtic mhen that never achieved much in the hoops bar the occasional Glasgow Cup or Charity Cup medals such as Jim Kennedy and Johnny Divers it is quite gratifying that Stevie who crossed many hurdles in his career achieved such greatness, 4 League, 4 League Cup, 3 Scottish Cup, 4 Glasgow Cup and of course the Big Ears Cup his last medal a SLC was at the age of 34.

There are greats, there are legends and then there is Thomas Stephen Chalmers who I recall berating wee ten thirty for sitting on the ball in front of the Jungle against the Bully Wee as he thought Bertie was humiliating fellow professionals.

  22. Bhoys I am loving all the confidence in our team

The Livingston Clubs are just supporters buses not actual club buildings.

If the Hotel isn’t showing it avoid Broxburn – hun hole.

Most of the pubs in Livingston are mixed so I would avoid them. The best mixed one would be the Paraffin Lamp in the old shopping centre.

  24. See if, if, Rangers were liquidated and subsequently died, why then, are Celtic supporters paying £49 for tickets to see Rangers vs Celtic at Ibrokes on Sunday ?

They either, died, or, they didny ?

I’m choosing my words carefully here, but, see at the end of the day, who is really being kidded here ?

thanks for this advice . I may even take a train in to Edinburgh and see it there at the house of a ghirl that I know there if I don’t get a better option nearby.

  27. Celtic By Numbers.

I thought delibery of our corners yesterday showed a marked improvement. Tierney seemed to be more consistent in delivering the ball into an area where there was a possibility of challenging for the ball.

    Another thought provoking assessment.

Really enjoy reading your analysis and summaries.

We should not be asking a LB to take a kick on the opposite side.

Midfielders should hit corners & if they cant….why not …?
