But it will take a mammoth effort by Ambrose and his team-mates to even match the remarkable club record of 13 successive clean sheets set by their predecessors from all of 100 years ago. On their way to winning the Scottish League and Scottish Cup double in 1913-14, legendary manager Willie Maley’s team went a then British record of 1287 minutes without conceding a goal.

The run began with a goalless draw at home to Motherwell on 20 December 1913. It was followed by another 12 straight clean sheets, including a 4-0 win over Rangers in the New Year’s Day Old Firm showdown at Celtic Park. The impregnability was built on the axis of goalkeeper Charlie Shaw, regarded as one of the club’s greatest-ever goalkeepers, and the equally celebrated full-back pairing of Joe Dodds and Alec McNair.

  7. corkcelt- SUPPORTING THE DAM 5 on

Comprehensive win, another clean sheet and a dopey ref, somethings never change. Viewed through a dodgy square sausage I reckoned Anto’s tackle was yellow at most. He probably did want to go hard into the thug and small wonder but still never a red in my book. Wee James was superb, Lenny did what Lenny does, he put out a team that won the game and that is his job.

Yellow card at worst. Referee gave an absolutely shameless performance.

  9. Well done and thanks Sellic.

Canny be bothered wi awe the wall 2 wall

sevco / huns stuff awe day – every day so,

    see yeez next week.

P.S. The huns will ‘never’ go away ye know !

No matter how many times they die.

I do wish that ‘all’ of the well intentioned Tims

on here and, elswhere would realize that…..

…Scotland ‘IS’ the huns, the huns ‘ARE’ Scotland.

Sad, but true. True to the extent that, nobody has the

balls to take Ibrox from the huns – until that happens

the huns will remain in whatever guise gets them by.

The huns have slithered their way oot of paying £140 mill

and, if they can do that – then their untouchable. imo

    Take Care Tims – OOT.

  10. The Stokes tackle was a yellow card IMO.

Madden showed his intentions early in the game when he booked Fisher for … winning the ball.

  11. Dear Oh dear. How bad a refereeing performance was that?.Did not see the red card, but the rest was woeful.Great result.Forrest very good,VVD excellent.A few were a bit quiet,Ledley,Charley,Broony, just a wee bit off,but won with ease. Was getting worried about the clean sheet.Lets get this record.Great for big FF if we could.Great results for us elsewhere.Very good day all round.

  12. Great performance from the bhoys today with James Forrest, Anthony Stokes, Kris Commons, Scott Brown & Virgil Van Dyke all giving 110%

  13. Dunfermline beaten today.Big chance to put pressure on the huns, not to chance admin. My guess is if they get far enough clear they might chance it.

A lot of chance in that last paragraph.

  14. Did’nt see the game but delighted with the result – bet the correct score this morning.

Madden shocking I hear – no surprise there. Questions need to be asked. Will they?!

    The unbeaten run continues.

    HH!!

    from the BBC

    Celtic boss Neil Lennon

“That’s the best we’ve played at home this season. You’ve got to give Motherwell credit too. Kris Commons is such an important player for us and his all round game is very good at the minute. He’s at the top of his game. I felt Stokes’s sending off was harsh, I can understand the referee’s decision but it was a genuine attempt to go for the ball.”

    ——-

    Motherwell boss Stuart McCall

“That’s as well as we’ve played at Celtic Park in an attacking sense. I’m disappointed we haven’t scored in the game. We didn’t cave in after losing a goal after four minutes. We’ve a lot to take for the game.”

On Stokes’s red card. “I thought it was a bad tackle and one which could’ve ruled Keith Lasley out for a long time.”

  16. Madden….. what can you say about his overall “performance”? Since Anton got a red (undesrved if he played for anyone else), am sure we will appeal it. Not to say that will help though :((
