    There was a moment in 1st half that VVD had the ball in the centre circle in their half and had 20 players in front of him. It’s nearly impossible to play through that.

     

     

    Last season their away record was better than at home.

    Looking at the video now. We give the ball away and put ourselves in trouble in our own third.

     

     

    In quick succession, Izzy clears to them, Boyata clears to them and GMS in right back position gives it to them – Brown fouls the guy on the last third line.

    Aside from his performance, from where I sit the ref appeared to get in the way of our players on several occasions too.

    I thought it a fair result tonight. They defended really well but we made a few chances.

     

     

    GMS in first half after neat interplay then Ciftci (I think at far end in 2nd ) had 2, 1 header 1 shot. Keeper saved from VVD then our goal.

     

     

    If we can score over there then they need 3 and I don’t see that.

     

     

    Good tactical result.

    Bitton definately carrying a knock or strain.

     

    That’s got to be a concern

     

     

    Izzy went down too, although looked like cramp….

     

     

    How long is Charlie out for..? Does he stand a chance of returning next midweek?

    Just back, pleased we won and kept a clean sheet.

     

     

    Qarabag always seemed to have a man spare to play a first time pass to plus the big 55 at the back seemed to stroll through the game apart from the occasional time we put a bit of pressure on jim.

     

     

    We should have had a penalty about ten minutes before he scored when the other central defender had pulled Dedryck’s jersey when he went for a free kick.

     

     

     

    We weren’t at out best but as soon as I saw we had an Austrian ref, I had a feeling we were up against him as well. It’s probably coincidental since theShugster got a gig at Uefa, some Uefa refs we have had have not been the best. Austrians and Scottish football don’t get on well.

     

     

    I believe a Scotland Austria game was abandoned in the fifties or sixties and our old chums from Vienna weren’t of the Corinithian spirit.

     

     

    Our passing needs to improve greatly, up the pace and tempo, be brave and disciplined and don’t give the Qarabag players an invitation to hit the deck next week.

     

     

    Also keep their wee number ten quiet as he was in the second half.

    Hello this is WEE BGFC. No mate I just checked myself. PS. My sister (Princess BGFC went today as well for the 1st time in a while because she had exams. Great game today though!!!!!!! Will take that going to Qarabag!!!!!!! Can’t wait for the game on Saturday (will be the second game on the new star-spangled New Balance season tickets)!!!!!!! Mon the Hoops!!!!!!!     Well done Celtic. Pleased with that result. Could have been 2 or 3 with the goalie’s great save from Virgil’s header and Ciftci’s shot on the turn which unfortunately was hit straight at the keeper. Qarabag were a good team but we’ve seen a lot of better teams at Celtic Park. They looked very nervy in the first 30 minutes and our players were beating them in 1 -to – 1 situations and we were passing our way through their defence. I thought we played well and was impressed by Boyata and Biton in particular. The next few months will be crucial if James Forrest is going to have a future career at Celtic.

     

     

    Puffed out still from running down to Dalmarnock for the train …… but I made it!

     

     

    Very hopeful that we will qualify.

    glen daly, heard before the game the Ref has a previous record as a Warmer,( all the Qualities required for the SPL ) and he served up well IMO.

    just watched the game “live” on Celtic TV. We were short of ideas and second best. Going to be a difficult game over there – clean sheet is vital

    After 25 mins said I would bite yer hand off for a 1 nil.

     

    They are a tidy team comfortable in possesion whose back 3 easily swept up and passed the ball around Nadir as there was that much space between Nadir and any support ,

     

    Imho We were making sure we didn’t lose a goal so went 4-4-1-1 unfortunately Broonie GMS Stuart and Jo Hansen decided to have a poor night to press up, but mission accomplished again i’m a fan of griff but if he was toiling Nadir had no support .

     

    but as I say The team will be happy with the win as I am .

     

    Win at home by any score and dont lose away from home

    I thought Bitton was as poor as I’ve seen him for a while. He started well and had a few runs but his passing in general was poor, especially in the second half. In fairness though he did get injured in second half, probably the reason he came off, and he was better than Brown.

    How do you know you have had a decent result unless you compare with a standard.

     

     

    If all the other ties were won 5:0 by the home team, would our result be considered good?

     

     

    Our match has a contest. It is fairer to compare it with what is happening in the contemporary games with teams who are trying to achieve what we are trying to achieve, than it is to compare us with Celtic in the 66 to 74 period.

    Had a great time tonight with my son at his first European game .

     

    We went along early just so he could take it all in properly. Picked up some new badges , another new scarf and the all important programme.

     

    Surprisingly he got a bit nervous which set me off a bit. However It was good to get a proper celebration when we scored.

     

    Rather than be critical of anyone on our special night we both thought Virgil & Dedryck were our best players.

     

    He’s away to bed now , Celtic top still on and scarf under the pillow .
