I just watched the short highlights of the last 2 games against them. the difference in intensity and energy levels is pretty clear.
The Onlooker on
We all agree that we were poor today.
However, on the few occasions that we looked like we might create a chance , we were chopped down far from goal.
This is a tactic that lends itself to the modern game , now that we have the luxury of 5 substitutions….
Players can kick lumps out of the opposition, take a booking, then pass the clogging responsibility over to a team mate. If too many players get booked, make substitutions and continue with the game plan.
This tactic works even better in cup matches as there is less jeopardy about the accumulation of cards leading to suspensions.
Madhun allows more fouls than most before he gets the cards out, so with him in charge the Huns can kick even more.
This is not a knee jerk reaction to today’s result, it is something that has annoyed me for some time in modern football.
Teams like Athletico Madrid ,and all teams that play out of Ibrox use this tactic.
, if we are to compete , we need to start putting some steel into our defence and midfield.

The one thing they have on us is physicality, we missed a Brooney type enforcer,
If we are allowed to play Ange ball we win,
If we are closed down from playing it out from the back & drawn into a dogfight in midfield we struggle.
The League is everything this year, we must dig in & get over the line.
Hopefully a good chunk of the Champion’s League will be given to Ange to continue the rebuild.
He must realize that we need 4 or 5 bigger stronger players,

Didn’t get going today. At 1-0 I was very confident we’d close out the game but a bit like Midtjylland earlier in the season, was they equalise we never really looked likely to regain it and indeed, we finished the weaker side.
Plenty of work for us to do in the summer. We won the more important game two weeks ago so while today hurts, tomorrow I’ll wake up and remember we’re 6 points clear.
Roos County in now huge, a win and we’ll be at least 6 clear with 3 games from 4 at CP. I wouldn’t swap a win today for defeat at County, that has to be our number one focus now.
Can’t finish without calling out Madden. A cheat who knows exactly how to change a game by allowing opponents to foul us at will while blowing us up at every opportunity.
No idea what Sevco had to do today to warrant a second yellow. Lundstrum and Bassey would surely have seen a second yellow under a legitimate referee.

One fud saying I am talking piss, and another agreeing with him.I don’t come on here and spout hindsight.Ange made a total Erse of it today. His ass lickers can do one.Weeks ago I said Hatate should not play again for a month.Total rest required.Today,we have the best striker in the league sitting in the stands, while Maeda, how many attempts at goal, plays. Will not play Kyogo, but will play a boy,who we all can see,is dead on his feet.
Biton, not even on the bench.Totally unforgivable. After his terrific second half cameo at Ibrox.WTF is that about.Would have made some difference second half.

I’ve seen all this before so I was wary before today’s game. Ange saw a 1-0 loss to them back at the start when they were still under Gerrard, then two victories one scintillating the other controlled. After two defeats they were never going to come out & try to play football against us, why would they? They set up like an Italian team who knew they’d get skinned if they didn’t stop us playing, fair enough but what is unacceptable is the performance of the great facilitator, who instead of refereeing the game professionally acted like their twelfth man.
Our board need to do much better on this imo.

You’re right mate. I did forget about that one. An utterly ridiculous performance from Madden. I’ve no doubt we’ll see him again before the end of the season.
The problem when you don’t call Madden out when we win at Tynecastle is that it looks like sour grapes when you do it after a defeat.

Gallagher, as ever you’re spot on. Like you I’ve seen it all before. RH Davidson, JPR Gordon, Bobby TaIt et al.
But what can the board do? A simple remedy would be to seek to impose the rule used by most European leagues; you can’t referee a match involving the team you support. In the absence of an honest declaration it must be easy to check if you had ever held a season ticket to a club, or held shares. Or we spend another 130 years tolerating this bias. Having said all this, we hardly deserved to win today.
We lacked physicality in midfield. I do wonder if Carter Vickers could move to a DM role if we sign one or two tall centre halves.

Walked from Hampden back to Celtic Park after tge game today.
Reflected as I walked on how that landscape has changed in the 54 years since I started going to watch Celtic.
We have won 28 leagues vs 21 to the Govan based franchises and we have won more a Scottish Cups also.
Despite their cheating and financial chicanery we have had the best times of Celtics history.
Celtic has changed too in that time. In the brand scheme of things winning next week and in 3 weeks time are more important than winning today. Winning in 2 weeks time or 3 from the next 5 is what really matters.
The momentum is back with us if we do decide to learn from today. Ange will have seen sleekit officiating and be wider for it next season.
Hearts will beat thems to the cup just as they did in Wims season. A double of league and league cup will do us nicely. We can build as they deteriorate next season whilst we strengthen.
We got a fair bit wrong. We are work in progress. Progress in football isn’t always linear.
We will be on a better place of we learn from today.
That was hard to take. I refrained from posting or talking to anyone until now as I was too annoyed.
I think they had one shot on target in the second half and they equalised.
However, we seemed unable to ‘impose our game’ as they say. Couldn’t work out why tactically. Certainly Brother Madden was their standout performer but we never really got our game going until the second half when we were in control until they scored. That changed things and we seemed unable to respond.
I know folks will question fitness levels but to be honest I’ve always found the powers of recovery at ibrox remarkable. Truly remarkable.
Lessons to learn bit as yet I don’t know what they are. Kyogo is way short of fitness. Hatate is often fantastic but too often wasteful in possession. Rogic was shackled – literally at times. O’Riley stood out a mile as the best footballer on the park when he came on.
It’s done. I now have a free day on cup final day. Won’t watch it. Every cloud and all that.
The only thing that matters now is the next match. 5 league games to go. 10 points guarantees it by a point. 9 points probably does unless something mental happens with the GD. Hope my sums are correct.

We’ve stopped conceding from set pieces against them, or even looking like we will. All their goals come from low crosses into the box, wingers or full backs crossing low along the six yard area
