    Steve Harley RIP

    ______

Very sorry to hear that. Saw them twice in the early 70s. Also saw Steve just a few years ago, in Greenock.

  2. BURNLEY78 @ 11:14 AM,

Well I’m not disagreeing with the value of goal difference.

Just how important it is for us currently.

In reality, we have a small first team squad, we need it to be in prime condition for the run in.

Let me give you an example…

At home against Athletico, we went five at the back.

Some didn’t agree with that, for me, that’s the reason we got a result, however lack of options (due to injuries) have restricted our tactical options.

We also had few options in midfield until Bernardo then came onto a game.

With him and Matt not at their best we need options, a hungry Odin back as a “super sub”, might be crucial.

The lack of strength and depth in the squad (for various reasons) has made our tactical approach limited and we have dropped crucial points.

We don’t have that luxury (not that we ever did)…

Seventeen goals in the last five games (including the zero at the Tynecastle abomination).

Suggests our goal drought maybe behind us.

    Let’s hope so…

BTW: Sevco having a crucial weekend off, putting us in the target position shows how important these strategies are to winning leagues.

    Hail Hail

If we maintain yesterday’s standards and cut out the cheap late goals (which will happen if CCV plats 90 mins) we will win this league.

  4. Would rather they played today although beat Livingston and the pressure is on them going to Ipox

  5. Rangers manager Philipppe Clement angry that game is called off…….he asks officials if they can carry their two penalties into the next game ?

  6. Thoroughly enjoyed yesterday- even bumped into old CQNr Subterranean before the match.

Obviously Kuhn is getting more used to the demands of Scottish Football and Brendan has learned that Kyogo playing on the shoulder will score more than Adam’s more muscular talents (he is still a good sub to have). Iwata was tidy, AJ & Greg were industrious and always available, and Bernardo was better than Matt while he was on. CCV kept Steven Welsh composed and on a game and a combination of this and Levein’s coaching philosophy meant we had a clean sheet until Brendan’s only mistake yesterday.

Taking CCV off was fine but Lagerbielke should have been the choice (and I rate Holm). It gave me a chuckle when we won a corner and Iwata was sent up along with Welsh to win the aerial battle.

All in all, I prefer a game with lots of chances wastefully missed, to one where we are frightened to enter the box unless we have a clear shooting chance.

  7. The Gods have decided…..

Cant have the Huns playing on St Patrick’s Day

    Especially on a Sunday

  8. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Good afternoon CQN

I don’t see any downside to Sevco game cancellation.

Personally, I expected them to grind a victory.

We’re now top of the league.

They have another fixture to take care of at business end of the season.

Remember – we pre-qualified for group stage European football. Sevco have been at it since early July.

A win under any circumstances today could have been used as a tonic.

    “Top of the league” and

    either

    “purring and rediscovering their mojo”

    Or

“Winning ugly on a heavy pitch with patched up squad. A mark of champions … blah blah blah”

    Instead?

    Sitting second?

Chewing over last four form of 1-1-2 with a VERY long break between games before the chance to put it right comes round.

  9. BACK TO BASICS – GLASS HALF FULL on 17TH MARCH 2024 12:16 PM

Valid points. I did fancy them to drop points today though

  10. Maybe the DUNDEE v Huns game will be scheduled as the LAST Game of the season….with Dundee winning by TWO ALBERT KIDD Goals…2 – 0, to help Celtic win the League ?

    God Bless ALBERT.

    LOL

    HH.

  11. According to the league table on this Celtic website we are still second and didnt play yesterday.

  12. !!Bada Bing!! on

There was a late sub on the VAR team for today’s game,a former Band Sergeant of an Orange Lodge Band, think his name is Chrisy

  13. Question:

Will Sevco have to play their game against Dundee before the split as Dundee might not finish in the top six?

  14. Hot smoked

It will have to be before the last round of games pre split.

All the games have to be over by 14th April.

The only question is will it be played on first available date which is wc 31/3 midweek prior to us going to Govan, or will it be wc 7/4 and between us going to Govan and them going to Ross Co.

My money is actually on the latter but I would rather it was a distraction before they play us.

  15. The postponement today reminds me of one we suffered under NFL on a weekend 12 noon kick off. I think our bus got the news of the postponement as we reached Grantown and we had to spend a couple of hours in that town as the driver needed a break before journeying back to Glasgow. Again we were told that the pitch was playable by 3 pm that day and that this was a recurrent problem for early kick off times in Inverness due to the tide ebb and flow.

Later in the season we had to make a midweek trip up to Inverness and I think the players had been at a club function the night before. Needless to say, we lost the match heavily and lost the league that year narrowly.

Hope it works out the same way for Sevco this time and they lose because of this.

  16. I was pleased with yesterdays result .

I still left the stadium slightly angry at our manager .

His treatment of Lagerbielke is disgraceful .

The man management of the player may be soul destroying for the young Swede.

Rodgers actually risked our winning result then remedied the situation by putting him on .

I am starting to detest the man .

I was 60/40 in favour of his return .

He is putting his own ego ahead of our title challenge .

    TT

  17. Great to see a club we previously enjoyed a great relationship pulling clear with 8 games to go in B2 in Germany. A tough league and the 10 point gap over city rivals Hamburg in 3rd means there is a strong chance St Pauli will return to the top flight. Also a strong chance Hamburg will be in play off place at best.

I used to enjoy their fans company on away trips and also love their club ethos. I had hoped their ownership connection with Dunfermline might really bring more to Scottish football.

  18. Gustaf showing the right attitude.

The 23-year-old captioned a few photos with ‘+3 and we keep going’.
