  1. Davies has won the lottery, a workmanlike CB,in the right place at the right time, probably went from 10k a week to 50k a week, with a very hefty signing on fee. When all Liverpool CBs are fit, they will punt him next year to a West Brom for about £15 million.

Thanks for the info – I’m getting a new greenhouse next month – was dismantling my current one to give to the daughter ( if I can remember how it goes back together )

Enjoyed the chat – night all

I like Julien. He and Ajer with Soro in front would be a great combo. I think we’ve missed him.

*although I won’t be happy, didnae want him first or second time, I’ll still be supporting the bhoys but as usual from afar. Been through far worse than this.

Of course there will be very few not changing the habits of a lifetime because supporting a team you and your forebears have followed for generations doesn’t work like that (unless you’re Sean Connery)

I don’t think it will come to that though . Whatever Lenny says , he knows as well as the rest of us his time is up .

    Depends what the plan was.

Bale subbed – been very poor – £300k per week – we’re amateurs when it comes to wasting money – dear oh dear

i would take Bale for us in a heartbeat

    Hi there, hope you’re well.

You, or I don’t know how the John McGinn / Ben Davies contract negotiations went , but whilst Celtic fans speculate over potential BBC/Twitter/SMSM Liverpool bid amounts, the big picture is still the same.

We have a caretaker manager, and a caretaker CEO and an outgoing Head Scout so who gets to pick playing personnel?, – they’ve had their turn IMO. Don’t care what happens to any bids. Given they already lost the league, and overall bought poorly, I’d go for ‘transfer in’ ban.

I’m poised for bigger personnel change.

  8. lets all do the huddle on

what is the point in getting a player on loan til the end of the season?

    to what end?

  9. We should be playing the youngsters until the end of the season, giving them experience, you could find a couple of good ones.

I didn’t mean to give impression of Liverpool not being aware of Davies. I was talking about the general theme of faffing about and not including deals.

For a fraction of the money wasted over recent months we could’ve had Davies

signed days ago having been linked with him for months.

  11. So who’s signing Kenny?

If it’s Neil Lennon’s decision we can assume he’ll be here until the end of the season.

If it isn’t Lennon, why isn’t it?

  12. 67 European Cup Winners on

So my thinking was right about Ben Davies. PL sits on his hands and someone else steps in £2m. How much will he be with in a couple of years – I bet more than pL bonus. Poor play Celtic – again.

  13. If there is any truth in Neil Lennon being our manager next season, I will seriously have to think about renewing my season ticket, even if my Dad, God rest him, will probably be turning in his grave. Whenever the renewal date was reached, his first question to me would be, “have you renewed?”.

  14. So Lennon is planning for next season,Saying he could go back in for Duffy ,Elanoussa,Laxatal, surely this fake news, Anyway I think it’s a cert he will resign this week ,yesterday was another dismal performance, His tactics are a joke. ,Take a striker of and replace him with a midfielder, that’s tell it all about him,he has lost the dressing room ,For God sake go ASAP.

  15. I think Neil’s playing a game with his employers.

Basically, want me to go, pay me what I’m due.

Our shattered nerves is just collateral damage.

As Paul67 warned, there’s worse to come as a result. Trophyless season and 3rd place?

We are signing loans until the end of the season because we need the bodies in regardless of whether NL goes tomorrow or at the end of the season . If the incoming manager doesn’t fancy a player , the loanee can be returned . Some of our biggest mistakes are players we have payed good money for .

Summer will be the time for a proper rebuild , sticking plasters will do for now. Perhaps even a sticking plaster manager .

  17. What is the point in us signing Kenny until the end of the season? Unless we have first refusal on a permanent deal in the summer, it makes no sense…

We will not finish below second place, Hibs & Aberdeen are just that little bit worse than we are, so the pointless 2nd round CL qualifier space is already ours. We have a couple of right backs in the reserves/unders, so why waste money on Kenny? Save the cash for when we get a competent manager in place over the summer, our disgrace of a manager should not be allowed to waste another penny of the money we pump into the club. Bad enough that the wage thief hasn’t had the dignity to walk away already, let alone waste any more cash on his delusional vanity projects

Wish I had your confidence re second place . Aberdeen and Hibs both gained ground on us yesterday

I signed up a good few moons ago- was ARH (me dad said after keane lost to clyde ‘they made “A Right Hames” of it’), jackiemac, i’vehadtochangemyname…….

I was in England, married, happy but in a weird way lonely/homesick.

Along came CQN, not only a connection with the Celtic, not always easy btw, but a connection with what’s going on with the SPL and Scotland.

I don’t have to tell you what that meant but I will- the story of celtic on these pages; people remembering some great times; friends hooking up; people passing on; comments on what the club was and what the PLC meant and so on.

Then, news of the great cheat broke; cqn came into its own and some! Journalism in the desert !

I haven’t been everybody’s cuppa tea and was a k nob to cliftonville celt once but I’ve found me equilibrium here as the blog moved into post cheat/coverup times.

As ever, you could find a story behind the headlines here -It could be about a match or a transfer window or about a long term strategy I hadn’t spotted.

I need that second eye you have more than ever now!

  20. Glendalystonsils

Fair point, but say we do finish third….we enter the Europa qualifiers at a round earlier than we normally do after getting turfed out of the CL qualifiers, so little difference for next season😶

  21. glendalystonsils on

    HAIRLIKESPAGHETTI

Yep . No doubt end up in the EL anyway . The days of qualifying for the CL seem very distant .

    Bada Bing,

Are you disappointed on us missing out on Davis?

You mentioned previously you saw him quite a bit for Preston if I recall.

  23. squire danaher on

For those assuming we’re going to finish second and make CL qualifying, the likelihood would be that being involved in the Non-Champions draw means that we’d be in with even stiffer potential opponents, and likely to be unseeded from an earlier stage.

From memory, when last involved we got out very early by Arsenal and Sporting Braga in successive seasons.

  24. SQUIRE DANAHER on 31ST JANUARY 2021 9:44 PM

There’d be a horrible irony if we spend nine years struggling through all those qualifiers to get to the CL, Sevco win their first title in a decade and get an easy run to the groups.

People on here keep saying that they’re a financial basketcase but a £30m swing could really be a gamechanger.

Saw the Eagles at the Apollo in 1977 ………Hotel California tour, great concert of its time, now find their music sing-along and dated……..unlike Steely Dan who were always more nuanced though it took me a while to appreciate them.

He travelled to Barbados in December for a holiday.

Probably got the pneumonia as a result.

Maybe not the smartest thing to do, but I suppose the thought it was worth the risk.

  27. THEBHOYFROMU.N.C.L.E on 31ST JANUARY 2021 9:52 PM

Nothing nuanced about the name, but yes their music has dated better.

The Eagles was about the peak of that sort of anodyne, fin de siecle West Coast rock that predated punk.
