It’s not like we didn’t warn them. Charles Green, with his ‘blame it on bigotry’ and ‘Rangersitis’ nonsense was an even more transparent charlatan than wee Craig Whyte. Green moved in, fed them the nonsense they were oh so willing to swallow, and made off with their millions. All carried out in broad daylight.
The financial realities were self-evident from day one of Newco’s existence. For a while you had to wonder if any of vast number of fans, journalists and fan-journalists with computers had a spreadsheet between them. But, a more powerful force than Rangersitis had taken hold – vanity. The kind of vanity only those afflicted by a notion of supremacy are susceptible to.
Their club was liquidated, a newco was formed. It adopted Rangers’ name while the original club was still an SFA member (and granting permission for their players to turn out for was for the time known as ‘Sevco Scotland’.
Put yourself in their shoes for a moment. This isn’t an easy pill to swallow. Around these parts people invest the kind of sentiment in their football team which goes into nationalism elsewhere, occasionally causing wars. It’s a primitive but natural part of all of us, so perhaps we should have been more respectful of the feelings of others at the time. Cough.
If someone was able to chart the world’s Cognitive Dissonance harvest it would have been off the chart for the last two years, brought about when a degrading reality met a supremacists vanity. The subsequent scarcity of Armageddon (biff), Celtic’s flourishing Champions League action (bang), the new New Firm (whallop) were all late blows which none of the Jokers at Ibrox anticipated. Even Kilmarnock managed to sort themselves out without collapsing into administration.
Without the ability to accept credit or debit cards, or with the bank’s authority to allow fans to automatically renew season tickets, the signs are written as tall as Ibrox’ Club Deck. I can’t see more than a few thousand being prepared to throw their money into a landfill site.
Season ticket renewal deadline has been moved to a week before when next month’s wages are due. Right now the directors have a reasonable aspiration that tens of thousands of fans will renew but on 17 May, the day after the deadline, reality should crystallise. If there was a spread bet available, I’d put my money on administration in the days to follow.
Money talks, it don’t sing and dance and it don’t do walking away….

It needn’t have come to this, but the emerging truth is the inability of people in the Game in Scotland to countenance a Game without a Rangers.
The prevailing determination at Hampden Park was “a Rangers at all costs”.
Well, little did they realise just what the cost would be, and there’s more to pay.
A more mature, balanced football authority would have taken its time, allowed for a season without a ‘Rangers’, and permitted the fans of the liquidated club to organise themselves such that they would have been able to recreate what they had lost.
Charles Green’s was the only show in town, but that did not mean that Scottish Football was compelled to buy a ticket, let alone sell out the house.
Coming to terms with the idea of a Game Without Rangers was, and remains, first base in shaping a future. Get used to the idea, and the solutions will emerge in orderly fashion.
Will they go bust officially on the 25th May. Would it be fitting? Hopefully not that date should be sacrosanct…but I am torn about it. Think of the increase in intensity when it comes to celebrating it every year. A gift for historians.

Got to hope somewhere somebody is asking themselves ‘What happened to the Ramsdens Cup money?’
Pfayr- :(( Do you think CFC PLC would want the huns punished? I have no faith in the SFA to administer their own rules, they never apply them when it comes to the huns.HH
The damage done by McCoist to Sevco shouldn’t be underestimated
Huge salary …..and required an SPL budget to negotiate the lowest leagues
As well as Greengo and co he is culpable …£1.6m in wages in two years …madness

He’s the funniest player i’ve seen for years.

Got to give the Zombies a pass on that one, as the word ‘divisional’ doesn’t fit well with that tune.
Would probably be the first pass they’ve seen today, right enough!

I think the other SPL clubs are happy where they are at present ….cups being shared around …attendances up
They will not let the Huns run rough shod over the regs…..thankfully it won’t be left to CFC

Excellent post. I also believe the bung mentality and jobs for our sons mentality played a large part. The prospect of losing that was uppermost.
Still is.

Thought Ipswich were well priced today …nonsense …they’ve been dross
Pfayr-i hope you’re right.Totallyagree re Sally,he should have drew a line in the sand as regards wages, but greed always gets the better of a hun.

Not for the first time I would suggest that the most effective way of resolving the difficulties affecting the Scottish game is to abolish the four home associations and establish a British Football Association.

If it happened I think we might have a special Lisbon Lions anniversary special on SSB that night.
Pretty sure hearts managed to stave off administration until the week after the end of the season hence the points deduction was this season
So unless sevco go into admin before their season ticket deadline … Any deduction would be next season if they survive
TBJ
That’s my understanding
Sevco discussion on shortbread earlier. English pointing the finger at Murray. The St Mirren fan of course saying all was well when he sold to Whyte. English asked why it only cost Whyte £1. St Mirren fan says because of the tax case (so it WASN’T being well run then!). Blamed Lloyds for forcing the sale but didn’t say why it hadn’t been sold for the preceeding five years he was trying to flog it.
Tried to spin the “debt was coming down” myth, even trying to say it would have been “reduced further”. Complete nonsense of course, as it only came down the two years they had CL money, and only by £13m when CL money would have given them approx £30m. So basic arithmetic would tell you they were overspending by £17m those two years.
After Malmo and Maribor the game was up. McCoist couldn’t beat those giants even with a £50m team (that’s HIS valuation by the way!).
St Mirren fan is just a TOTAL clown and should not be allowed anywhere near the BBC.
Paul 67, a great blog today. Billy Nowell could put that to music and give it laldy at the hootenanny.
TBJ, will you be making it along on the 10th?
Ernie, afternoon,
Decent idea but why would the FA want that?

Excellent summary of thems recent vanity.
Rob & Gordon.
I wasn’t too sure of the rule either. I remember the third of previous season total mentioned.
I actually think it was an excellent way of deciding how many points to deduct.
If a team wants to overspend and obliterate the opposition on the way to winning the league then they should be punished more harshly imo.
It would be so fitting if they died really died on Lisbon day. History beckons.

Chic Young was embarrassing today on Shortbread; trying to rewrite history and denying Murray’s culpability. Their press and media lackeys have not served them well.
Yeah I agree with a BFA
No more SFA

That’s what happens in the real world , this is Scotland .
Any penalty will be applied this season , no way they can risk the zombies not getting out of the championship next season
P67…
I think you underestimate the fascinating dimness of much of their support.
“…can’t see more than a few thousand being prepared to throw their money…
Suppose it depends on the definition of a few thousand but it wouldn’t surprise me if more than 20k did precisely that!
With increased prices that would still allow them to limp along for 6-9 months!
The good thing about that is the limping bit :-)
Kept wondering why Wilson wasn’t piping up with his “Dave King will sort it all out” comments, then I realised he would be at the game with his Sevco scarf…..
Acgr
Hope so mate … What time you meeting to eat ?

The zombies I have spoken to all said they would not renew
Bearing in mind we are in the early stages of a transitional period, Scottish football is in a much healthier position than it was two years ago.
Hearts and Dunfermline have both defied the odds to avoid liquidation, Kilmarnock have cleared their debt against all expectations and the domestic silverware is being shared around.
Gates are up at virtually every Scottish Premiership club, except Celtic.
The only club in Scotland not making progress is Sevco. They have won successive promotions but they have an overstocked squad of poor players on big wages with virtually no sell-on value, they are stuck with an underachieving over-paid manager, and they are financially hamstrung for the foreseeable future.
Apparently Scottish football needs a strong one of them.
As I understand it the League 1 season is over next weekend…
After that points deduction applies next season!
Phone calls in the middle of ganes. Pet hate
HH
Four green fields
Given that hearts will be in the same division and given their finances I would think they would definitely object if sevco were deducted points this season if they go into admin after last game
Good afternoon all.

You going tomorrow? Will probably be at oor coarner about 2-15. :-))

I hope your right but when have they done what the rules say in any of this .
Justafan,
I’m sure someone posted the official docets on here yesterday and you’re not far off the mark.
