Cheating, what about the next time?

245

“If we allow cheating in our democratic process, then what about the next time?  What about the time after that, right?  This is a breach of the law, this is cheating.  And the thing that’s really important to understand here is that this is not some council race or by-election, this is an irreversible change to the constitution settlement of this country.”

Christopher Wylie, in evidence to a Parliamentary Committee, yesterday, 27 March 2018.

I was disheartened when I watched this incredible testimony on the Brexit campaign last night.  Cheating creates winners and losers.  The winners are invested with power that contaminates others.  “Raking over the coals” soon becomes a hassle too far, not just when the SFA reject a request for a review from the SPFL, but when the livelihoods of millions are on the line.

Cheating is successful, apparently, and will continue in any given environment until the consequences are absolute.  The SFA should take note.  They have condoned the next cheat.

But utimately will be it was not cheating just the fella it was left to didn’t really understand the new rules and went with the old way so we are gonna implement checks from this point on. Etc etc

Sorry everyone and carry on as you were please.

It’s the numbers that walk will decide what happens here imo but I’m not hopeful based on the amount of tickets sold for the zombie games.

Suggests to me in general folk are happy enough with what they get.

What happens then is anyone’s idea. Splinter team ala fc United of manchester,,,possibly but it would be ironic if it was based in Scotland?

Rugby and GAA might well win any loose souls.

I’ll bite – is this the St Johnstone v Hamilton game that you are referring to?

  11. Evening all, bored in my little apartment in central Manchester, definitely not a football city this week.

M&S microwave meal polished off and Becks Blue alcohol free lager is my choice tonight. 3 days till my Lent ends, looking forward to a good weekend.

Interesting that once again the Orcs have a financial deadline to meet. Don’t know why but I feel they could come unstuck this time, no idea to what effect but I feel they have taken too many gambles with not enough bottle to see it through. Did you see how they were extending contracts with their “stars” recently, was that to make the balance sheet look better? The shit or bust gamble for Europa League failed last year and there is no reason to think that August 2019 will see them involved in Europe either.

My biggest concern just now is that they will be in Motherwell on Saturday just when I am heading off to Glasgow, no train service running and a bunch of angry Orcs patrolling the streets, not going to be nice.

Still, hopefully I will have a big daft grin on my face.

Cheers, much appreciated, we just fell into it really, the Mrs had a cat rescue back in Dublin for many years afore we came here and it was made clear by me that those days were gone….aye right :-) I am a bigger softie than she is if the truth be known, I fall for every dog that we take in, but it keeps me out of the bar :-)

If you get any kinda satisfaction from it, it’s a positive thing imo, mental is good btw :-)

    Not Leishmans

That’s when they spout rubbish poetry in a thick Fife accent.

This is the first time I’ve done it (well almost – had 2 family occasions).

I must admit that haven’t missed it and lost a few pounds and blood sugar is lower.

Will enjoy Sunday all the more

  17. DBBIA

You are of course correct, but it’s easier to call it Leishmans as it’s wot the Spanish call it, but they do say it in a very different tone mind you :-)

  18. JMCCORMICK –

I’ve also been off drink for the past 6 and a bit weeks. I’ve heard many and varied stories about when Lent ends. Given that Good Friday is a day of fast and abstinence then, to me, there’s no point in hitting the bottle until after that. So I always use the fall-back position that I can break my Lenten fast immediately (or as soon as practicable!) after the Easter Vigil. I’ve done my research and the earliest starting Vigil near me on Saturday is at 7pm in St Bride’s Cambuslang. Hopefully home by 9 to start the festivities!

Bloomfield Rd is handy for Connswater Shopping Centre. Worked in Connswater for a month 10 years ago. I liked the area. Stayed on Newtonards Rd. Never had a problem. All locals of both persuasions were very friendly folk. Good luck to your lad.

  23. Logged on this morning to purchase our 4 Season Tkt seats for the Testimonial game.

    Seats not available ?

I am located in WS2 upper Main Stand adjacent to the Directors Box and have been there since the seats were wooden,so they are clearly very marketable positions.

I see a comment First come First served being banded about, which is a cop out allowing our Marketing experts to maximise yield from seats irrespective of current customers.

I would have thought 24/48 hrs for existing ST holders to uplift their seats would have been decent, but no.

Clearly people like me are not important, when it comes to short term gain,so that’s 4 less for Scotty.

    LEISHMANIASIS?

Years ago the elderly Inter chap down the canyon told me a Horrible Story about a friend of his being infected by something which when I translated it into English was called Jericho’s Buttons.

    I Googled it -it’s Leishmaniasis.

I wish you did as well mi amigo, you would like the pace of life here, the best thing I like about it is the people, they are magic, the Spanish I mean, the brits are a waste of space most of them, all they ever seem to do is moan and wish they were back in britland, the mind boggles so it does, anyways if you want a break away from it all, always welcome.
