Cheating, what about the next time?

245

“If we allow cheating in our democratic process, then what about the next time?  What about the time after that, right?  This is a breach of the law, this is cheating.  And the thing that’s really important to understand here is that this is not some council race or by-election, this is an irreversible change to the constitution settlement of this country.”

Christopher Wylie, in evidence to a Parliamentary Committee, yesterday, 27 March 2018.

I was disheartened when I watched this incredible testimony on the Brexit campaign last night.  Cheating creates winners and losers.  The winners are invested with power that contaminates others.  “Raking over the coals” soon becomes a hassle too far, not just when the SFA reject a request for a review from the SPFL, but when the livelihoods of millions are on the line.

Cheating is successful, apparently, and will continue in any given environment until the consequences are absolute.  The SFA should take note.  They have condoned the next cheat.

  1. Melbourne Mick,

the pub before the fifty “stitches” was the Lochinvar, from the sir walter scott poem and a favourite haunt of the dockers from KG5 dock, as it was the nearest. It was up a wee bit from the stitches and nearer the 50 pitches parks. they were the days.

I don’t have a clue and refuse to do the Sherlock Holmes thing based on the claims of two sides who in my opinion are absolutely not to be trusted . . I’ll wait and see if anything remotely valid / reliable emerges re How /What / Where / Who and How emerges . . It won’t surprise me if I never get that .

    They deny it.

    Russia says it wasn’t involved.

    Presumably therefore it was MI6.

Might explain why the Tories and Theresa May fought so hard against holding an inquiry.

And their claim that they didn’t want to upset the Russians was just a smokescreen.

You can’t fool me. Ah’m no daft.

For once Bob tune of the day has been eclipsed by Magazine. Loved Howard Devoto and John McGeoch. One of the first bands I saw live. Siouxsie and the Banshees were magic too.

The 18-19 season book renewal deadline is fast approaching. Before I shell out hundreds of pounds I’d like to know that football in Scotland is properly governed. Can anyone from @CelticFC @CelticFCSLO give any update from the SFA Compliance Officer’s enquiry on licence issues?

Hello again all you young rebels.

    MURSHEEN

You are correct and a good Celtic pub at one time with a fine football

team comprising a lot of ex St Gerards bhoys from Govan.

A lot of vendettas got settled in and around the back of that pub back

in the day and when it was rebuilt along the road a bit they renamed it

50 pitches after the parks at cardonald hence the 50 stitches as the

old scores were settled with open razors.

Surprised TONYROME never came back at me with that one 8-))

I know there were complaints about ticket sales for the semi, and exorbitant charges, so I thought I would mention this …

It has been announced that sports teams sell tickets directly to, and get substantial payments from, ticket “reseller” Stubhub, who often sell tickets for more than 200%. Basically, clubs are scalping tickets to fans. Disgraceful.

    http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/tickets-scalping-blue-jays-1.4597286

We have to realize that the clubs see fans first and foremost as a source of revenue, and we need to deal with the club accordingly. That is not to say that the club and the fans don’t have many common goals, and can’t work together. But, if we hope to accomplish anything, we need to be honest with ourselves about the nature of our role ….

I liked Magazine . My ears never took to Siouxie & The Banshees .. My eyes didn’t take to her Swastika armband either .Don’t have any of their choons. Saw them once at a dive called The Vortex in Soho . I’ll take a guess at late 77 . Simply not my cup of musical tea
