Cheating, what about the next time?

245

“If we allow cheating in our democratic process, then what about the next time?  What about the time after that, right?  This is a breach of the law, this is cheating.  And the thing that’s really important to understand here is that this is not some council race or by-election, this is an irreversible change to the constitution settlement of this country.”

Christopher Wylie, in evidence to a Parliamentary Committee, yesterday, 27 March 2018.

I was disheartened when I watched this incredible testimony on the Brexit campaign last night.  Cheating creates winners and losers.  The winners are invested with power that contaminates others.  “Raking over the coals” soon becomes a hassle too far, not just when the SFA reject a request for a review from the SPFL, but when the livelihoods of millions are on the line.

Cheating is successful, apparently, and will continue in any given environment until the consequences are absolute.  The SFA should take note.  They have condoned the next cheat.

I am close to a town called Baza, it’s half way between Malaga and Alicante, each would be about a 2-3 hour drive away, I am well inland from the coast, so much so I am in the mountains.

As for house prices, it all depends on what you class as cheap, where I am there are lots of cave houses they are relatively cheap, houses are the same, something that you can move into not needing much done, 30K up, caves from 10K, like anywhere you can spend mega money, but if you want a holiday home, you will get something decent for 20K, all euros, my place is up for sale, but as I have a pool and it’s in a very good location and it’s quite big and all the work has been done it’s expensive relatively, but as you are a Tim I will let it go to you for 150K :-)

  3. I completely agree that we shouldn’t allow cheating in these processes, but there’s no chance the £600,000 in dodgy donations had more of an influence than the millions of taxpayers’ money the government spent on pro-remain leaflets delivered to almost every door in the country in a clear contravention of spending rules for the campaigns. They used very similar tactics to the Scottish Indy campaign, where they bent the rules and outright cheated in that too, by making ‘the pledge’ if you recall. Brexit happened because people voted for it, but all forms of cheating need to be dealt with in future. I would go further and make sure every public sentence a politician utters is under oath, and make campaign manifestos legally binding.

The news report very insensitively showed the name on the door; it was indeed Gallagher.

The Gallagher family home my daughter said.

She lives in Lincoln flats. My mother in law lives 200 yards from the house. Folk are feeling edgy tonight, hence heavy Polis presence in area.

“A Russian ex-spy and his daughter first came into contact with the nerve agent that poisoned them at their home, police have said.

The highest concentration of the agent used against Sergei and Yulia Skripal was found on their front door.

The pair were found collapsed on a bench in Salisbury on 4 March and remain in a critical condition.”

    Then…

how come that policeman, who has since been released, became infected (if that’s the right word)?

Unfortunately, I do recall. There was nothing illegal, corrupt or immoral in making a pledge or vow for future action. Both sides of the referendum debate made them. You may recall one about a “once in a generation” vote.

Suprised youre having so much rain this year. I have a wee place in southern Costa Blanca and been over twice this year and it was warm and dry on each occassion in Jan and Feb, However the temps did seem dip throughout March as a result of the fierce snow and chill from the east. Nice to see they are back to normal in time for Easter celebrations.

  18. Quiet in here last night..

With regard the Sevco Euro Licence, and the review into the previous Euro Licence.

I don’t think we will find anything out from the CO until after they have been granted a Licence for next season, even though their accounts or lack of accounts should not allow them to get a Licence for next season.

Then the SFA will say we are reviewing matters for future to stop this happening again.

In other words the cheats (SFA and Sevco) just keep on cheating.

Otherwise why have we not heard from the Compliance Officer before sevco’s new Licence is due.

    Only my opinion though.

You cannot single out Ireland in isolation. They are only one country in the dozens who have expelled Russian “diplomats”.

My gut feeling tells me that there is more to the poisoning story than meets the eye, however surely all these countries would not be so gullible. Would they ?

  21. I see The Donald has sacked another member of his staff and administration. That is his 23rd major post sacking, I think (there have been some minor ones too). The vast majority have been his own appointments, rather than hangovers from the Obama administration.

He’s certainly doing his bit to “drain the swamp” but it is a swamp of his own making. Outside of Boris Johnson and Ronald Reagan, I cannot recall a more farcical and immature figure in modern politics.
