Commons, Hartson and some real Celtic heroes

907

Had a great time at the Celtic Supporters Association Rally last night.  It was a great celebration of all that is good about our club, with thousands of pounds raised for the John Hartson Foundation.  Neil Lennon spoke warmly of John, about his courage and ability.  As well as recognising the great achievements of this season, CSA Player of the Year, Kris Commons, could not hide his disappointment that we are not going for a treble next week.  Hibs will have their hands full with him at Hampden next week.

I’ve never heard a footballer talk as John Hartson did.  He was clearly emotional as he took the microphone from the manager but soon go into his flow.  He told us about the three hours spent in the car before telling his family the diagnosis of his illness.  His achievements as a footballer are remarkable and John is very proud of them.  His absence through injury in Seville clearly hurt.  Did it pass a crucial advantage to Porto?  John thinks so.

His own failings were put out there with the disarming confidence that only someone who has climbed a few personal mountains can do.  The ‘hangers-on’, who filled his days a few years ago, had their cards marked.

Reamonn Gormley’s parents, Jim and Ann, were also guests of the Association.  Jim asked me to pass on a thank you from him and Ann to all Celtic fans for what they have done for them and the Thai Tims in the last two years.  Their world will never be the same again but the support they have received from the Celtic Family has overwhelmed them.  Your community has done very well, but there is nothing new in that.

With supporters like we have our club is in good hands.   Well done to all who carry out the thankless tasks running busses, organising fundraisers and keeping the moral compass pointing in the right direction.

  1. I reckon no more or no less than the heat done for Celtic that night.I was amazed at how well the Bhoys coped with it.It was the hottest stadium I had ever been in and it was evening.Iwas only sitting watching and was drenched in sweat so the team must have been going through hell.

    So proud.

Could he not have phoned a couple of those named in the documents to ask if they are genuine? Any of us could have written what he has, but none of us could have got Duff and Phelps or Charles Green to take our call.

That was what was required of Tom English. All he’s done is repeat what everyone knows.

    Useless.

Yes, a lot of hot air at the start and his opinion is based on only what is online.

If Green & Whyte? It’s even better than that.

    No if’s on this one.

    None at all.

  4. O.G.Rafferty on

It’s not so important what he’s written.

It’s important that the story has moved from online to print and now it will gain momentum

Agree, but at least he is still telling us that they are in deep pooh. The MSM have been very quiet recently after the initial frenzy about the links with Green and Whyte. Like all the bad news regarding thems in the last year, after its been highlighted, it tends to get buried.

  7. English has assumed the leak is Whyte – why would C4 legal pull a report about docs Whyte was releasing…

I don’t believe Whyte is source of leak, even if he is, surely that assumption shouldn’t be made with no other perspective considered

The whole tone of his article is sickly, he is a no mark journo who has continuously failed to break any story throughout the biggest story on cheating and corruption in governance of any sport in UK history. Yet he approaches this with criticising Celtic fans.

If it wasn’t for the bampots there wouldn’t be a story, it would have been hidden with the help of English and his peers.

They are complicit and a disgrace to both their profession and the game they purport to love.

    SFA is corrupt.

    Rangers cheated.

    Rangers died

A new club created and everything done to accommodate them.

Media ignores or tries to cover.

Thank goodness for the bampots esposure of thia story & doing the job the Scottis MSM tried their utmost to avoid or worse cover up.

Some have not learned the lesson of the big tax case. For two years there was certainty that Rangers would be found guilty of industrial-scale cheating, a prejudgment that was proven to be wrong.

    No,mate.

It was “judged” to be wrong.Perhaps”deemed”to be wrong.

Similar to LNS finding them guilt( then minimal punishment) , msm conveniently forget the facts, & report accordingly to an eager audience, English criticises us and tries to discredit the bampots, because he KNOWS they don’t do their job.

Seville flu. When i rang into work sick that day – yer man just said ‘Seville flu’ and laughed. And fair play to him,he is a zombie.I watched that game in the most beautiful place on God’s earth,a wee tiny like outpost called Ballyliffen in the county Donegal. There was us few mentalists from Beal Feirste, the locals and a few Yank and Japanese golf tourists. The pub was packed to the gills. We knocked a sheep down on the way there,it was a bad omen. They love Celtic in Donegal.I never cry,but on the way back from the pub, just felt bad cos we should have won. That misty mild Donegal rain was falling, and i punched a fence – the fence won.Ah well.Best times.Time goes by.

  15. Ah! Seville! We were in the hotel originally allocated to Celtic, who, turned it down because it had a Go- Cart track just across the road, and the Celtic hierarchy were afraid the noise would be too much! However, the Seville Mayor’s Office had realised this, and closed the track for the week. The Hotel was superb, as you can imagine, all the players wives, family members were staying there, and after the game they all came back to this hotel to be reunited with their respective families! What a night we had there! Were the players down hearted, yes, however seeing their families was a good ‘pick-me-up’, and don’t forget, the guy who scored the winner for them had already been stretchered off 3 times! ‘ Cheating bar stewards’! We all had a great ‘all nighter’, and in the morning, as I was making way to the breakfast hall, a little waitress suddenly came out from a linen cupboard, and she walked straight into my little friend, and she stepped back and ‘ Oh Hola! Señor’ and my little N. Ireland friend just said ‘ Morning Daughter’!, and proceeded to carry on like a man on a mission, while I was ‘two double’ with laughter. No matter where we go, win, lose, or draw, it is hard to imagine that ‘ the Saville ‘ experience, will ever be replicated! I truly wish for all our young followers, that I am 100 per cent wrong!

Have to disagree with you there. Tom English et al certainly do their job… Their job is no longer to print the facts. Their job is market relations, printing what will maximize sales and therefore advertising revenue….

And in the age of the Internet bampots their role is under severe scrutiny.

Wouldn`t pretend to understand the intricacies of company law.

Understand perfectly the climate of catering to your niche market.

Niche equals hun.Niche equals the peepel.

We know that because Ally and his millions of predecessors have been drumming it into us for aeons…….well,decades.

The suggestion of ” no competitive ” advantage gained by the hun from E.B.T.s just beggars belief.Until you factor in “the peepel “and its overarching influence.

    As for Tom English’s article..

He managed to raise it without crossing the litigation threshold.

His self serving criticism of Celtic fans was puerile. He missed the point entirely.

Celtic fans didn’t hate Whyte, we loved him. Purely because WE knew that he was not saving their club, that he had never been a fan of their club, that he had such a dodgy past that his tales of derring do on behalf of them etc was all just rubbish. Not even that he was a liar over everything, that is the trick with conmen, have an element of truth behind your story to gain credibility. It was just about his claim to saving the club. We all knew that was mince and that is exactly what these leaked documents appear to corroborate. He has to say “IF” all the time to cover his back, but as others have said a few phonecalls would have at least provoked a No Comment. There have been no denials, no retractions, no counter allegations – nothing.

Of course this is Whyte, who else benefits from the leaking of documents. And so we are back to what English would refer to as us silly Celtic fans changing our tune about Whyte. Everything Whyte has done, does and will do is for his own benefit. Not for Scottish Football, not for Rangers, not for Rangers fans, not for shareholders, purely for himself. That is what we Celtic fans have been saying since he rolled into town. We are still saying that. Where was Tom English during all of this breaking story which is now 2 years old and counting?

Why do you think we refer to him as our hero?

    You are absolutely right.

The “story” is Rangers,Whyte and Green.

How can it be possible to slant this so that the focus is on Celtic supporters and blog sites,UNLESS you wish to spin the huge embarrassment to the hun out of the story.

  29. Seville was unreal…me and my son traveled from Los Angeles with about 12 other members of the LACSC, I managed to get a ticket through Jim Murphy(MP), but my son watched the game in the park with the rest of the unfortunates who could not get tickets.

This Thursday, we will be flying to Glasgow for the Cup final, and this time we both have tickets….Cannae wait ….

  30. Just dropped in to say…

Magnificent show by the Bampots so far – taking hundom to the edge of the cliff.

But here’s the thing…whose got the b#lls to tip them over ?

It looks to me that – the huns are gonna have to be put oot the game whilst the war

over who owns ibrokes is draged through the courts.

What happens if – CW wins and gets ownership of all the properties ?

CW will probably sell it all off for building or whatever.

Now – here’s the twist – where do you think all the huns fans will be whilst their stadium is being demolished ? Sitting in their homes play tiddly-winks ?

Yer talking here about the the folk who send bombs n bullets to the Celtic manager for daring to take the SPL title from ‘Walter’.

The same folk who threatened to burn – Raith Rovers stadium to the ground.

Who threatened – Hugh Keevins for NOT bending over.

Who wrecked a city centre because a TV broke down.

    I could go on….but life’s too short.

I think it will end up at a situation were – the huns fans will have to buy the stadium back from whoever owns it – by that time – Scottish Fitba will have fallen on it’s ass

with crowds getting less by the week….

Some sort of TV deal will be sorted out to include the huns – probably with restrictions

    and penalties. imo

Now – something that really gets on my wick…folk wanting – Keevins n Guidi – to get right intae the huns. Oh yeah….one fellow Tim always gets intae me and says

    – “…Keevins was shown up when AT skelped him and, Roger Hannah aboot the SSB studios…telling us all how it was with the huns !”

I always ask him – “…do you think that AT would still act the tough guy if – he had to live up here – amongst the peepil – like Keevins etc ?”

You see – AT can fly up here and say what he wants – knowing full well that once he’s done that – he can jump back onto a plane and fly back to wherever he came – bit different saying stuff – knowing full well that when yer finished – the mob will begin their hunting doon stuff !!!

Why do ye think Phil Mac had to get oot of here before he could tell it like it is ?

    Hail Hail n God Bless

    Luv Yeez Bampots

  34. Not only our hero taped conversations, seems Chuck has as well, In future Sevco board meetings may be held in the car park with no personal electronic devices permitted………………

A DRAMATIC tape of Rangers chairman Malcolm Murray being SACKED by Charles Green’s right-hand man has been obtained by The Scottish Sun.

In the recording, Imran Ahmad accuses Murray of improper conduct, and says: “You stab everyone in the back the first time you get a chance, so please don’t say you’re the victim here.”

The phone call shows how then chief executive Green, 59, and commercial director Ahmad, 43, told Murray to leave almost three months ago.

But the pair — now exiled from their top jobs — granted him a stay of execution and told him to go quietly at the end of the season, to avoid worrying investors. Ahmad is heard telling Murray, 58, on February 21 that it would be “best for the company” if he took a step back.

He also accuses the chairman of bad-mouthing him behind the scenes — and suggests he should be GRATEFUL for the chance to stay a little longer. But Murray defends himself against claims of “breaches of confidentiality”, saying: “I’m not bad mouthing.”

The release of the seven-minute tape by sources loyal to Ahmad and Green comes amid an Ibrox power struggle.

Last night Ahmad said: “I want nothing but the best for the club.” Rangers declined to comment.
