CELTIC’S highly-rated teenage defender Liam Morrison has sealed his surprise move to Bayern Munich.

The centre-half had been on the Bundesliga giants’ wanted list throughout the summer as the Hoops attempted to persuade the 16-year-old to commit to the Parkhead side.

The move was rubbestamped this afternoon and the eight-in-a-row champions may now face a fight for compensation for the youngster they brought through the ranks.

Morrison will join up with the Munich academy side and German coach Jochen Sauer was delighted to get the signing over the line.

He told the club website: “Liam had many offers from well-known European clubs.

“We are very glad that he has decided for us. He is a robust, physically strong defender who also brings a lot of quality.”

Bayern’s fellow-Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim were also keen on Morrison at the tailened of last season.

The youngster is the second Hoops centre-half to head for Germany this summer as he follows Dedryck Boyata who left at the end of his contract to join mid-able team Hertha Berlin.
