CONFIRMED: WELSH MAKES DEBUT

0

STEPHEN WELSH will make his Celtic debut when Celtic take on Hamilton at the FYO stadium this afternoon.

The 20-year-old defender, a product of the Celtic Academy, was recalled from his loan spell with Championship side Morton last month and has now been given the green light by Neil Lennon to take his bow against Accies.

Welsh, who will replace the injured Jozo Simunovic, is the only change to the champions’ line-up that hammered St Johnstone 3-0 in Perth in midweek where Olivier Ntcham, James Forrest and Leigh Griffiths, with his third strike in four appearances, shared the goals.

Lennon’s men have the opportunity to ease seven points ahead of their nearest challengers with a win against a team where they have had to battle for odd-goal victories in this campaign. Forrest scored the only goal when the teams met in August and skipper Scott Brown claimed  a last-gasp triumph in Glasgow in December.

TEAM: Forster; Welsh, Ajer, Jullien; Forrest, Brown, McGregor, Ntcham, Taylor; Griffiths, Edouard. Subs: Bain, Bauer, Hayes, Christic, Rogic, Arzani and Klimala.
