Corruption at highest level with an untold story

269

As reported in The Herald yesterday, the judiciary, police and Crown Office Prosecution Service (COPS) colluded in an “unlawful” manner against individuals who were simultaneously subject of a campaign by prominent Rangers supporters over control of the club’s assets before and after liquidation.

Sheriff Lindsay Wood granted police 22 warrants in an investigation into the takeover of Rangers at a time when a high-profile campaign was underway against the same people to secure the assets of the club post-administration and liquidation by ‘real Rangers people’.  The Herald also reported that Wood was a prominent Rangers fan who attended games, social events and displayed a photo of Ibrox in his office.

Accusations of collusion by police against groups of individuals are common, but it is rare to find the judiciary and prosecution services involved.  It is rarer still that they go after white-collar professionals.  If this is what they will do for their team against accountants and lawyers, what would they do to you?

No less an authority than sheriff principle for Glasgow and Strathkelvin concluded Wood “submitted a misleading report”.  Senior investigating officer, Chief Inspector Jim Robertson, chanted a Rangers song during interviews.  A judge ruled that Robertson gave evidence that was “patently untrue” and acted in an “intimidatory”, “threatening” and reprehensible” manner.

Sheriff Wood accepted his failings and announced he would retire in May this year. So far, compensation payments to victims have reached £40m.  Remember, this is only what was published in The Herald yesterday.  Fair play to them, if ever you wonder why we need a strong traditional media, this is it.

Let’s be clear, however, there is a lot more that has not come out.  If you think Wood and Robertson were architects of this, you are wildly mistaken.  Only the Scottish Government have the ability to look deeper, but there are some clear lines to follow up.

When this was all happening, individuals working on this put themselves at significant personal risk and have since wisely gone to ground.  While I think that risk has passed, it is not my gamble to take.  But I know for sure if the Scottish Government took a hard look at the COPS, their prosecution decisions and their unprecedented leaking of information to the press – by official email (which I’ve seen), they would find out what we all know but some prefer to ignore.

When I registered with VIAPLAY this morning, they did NOT ask for any ” SKY VIEWING NUMBER”, so I was able to Register, and I will hopefully have NO PROBLEMS when I try to watch Celtic at 5.00pm Today.

Do you have Sky, if so did you purchase VIAPLAY through it? If you did, it would then be available on your Smart TV through the Sky TV platform. I am tempted to follow this route myself, as it is probably the only way I will get to see the game.

I declined the offer of a ticket for today’s game as I refuse to attend Hampden Park in the winter months. Wading through mud and dodging puddles is not my idea of a day at the football.

    3-0 Celtic.

I think Bernabei will play at left back.

I’d play Siegrist in goal tonight.

  7. David 66,

In total agreement, but I would never use the term”Rat” for any Tim.That terminology far more suited to the verminous hordes across the City.I would think.

  8. Sorry Joe – Tommy Johnson.

    Off to the pool.

    Praying for a victory = 3 – 0.

  9. Back in September,my mate cajoled me into going with his pick for the CL.He is a big Serie A fan.and after Napoli had rubbered Liverpool, although I still favored Man City,I relented.Every year 50 quid each on a pick each. This year 100 quid on Napoli.

Long way to go,but last night watching them destroy Juve, feel we are in with a real shout.

    What a performance.

  10. I have a feeling we will face an aerial assault today , killie I feel don’t have the players to play through us , ( although I said that about st mirren too ) and with the bigot back it may well be there masterplan . A bit disappointed not to see the Korean boy sign for us but it was dragging on too long , hopefully we will have our sights on someone else of equal or better quality who will take more of the chances this team set up . Had a look on you tube of the other Korean lad ,he is a game one that’s for sure ,hard to knock off the ball scores alright ,but doesn’t half miss some glaring chances . Ange would tidy him up though . Here’s hoping for a good victory later today , and an honest display by the mibs . HH

  11. TB – Fairpoint.

Tom – Berni will probably play but I always love getting as many forward thinking players on the park as possible, I can but live in hope.

    But in Ange I trust.

    Cracking wee video.

I don’t think the guy has got his years right as the Celtic goalkeeper running out of the tunnel looks like Joe Kennaway, not John Thomson who played in the 1931 final.

I think Celtic also played Motherwell in the 1933 final, with Joe in goal, so clip is probably from then or a combination of the two cup finals.

  19. they will target all their kick outs to our smallest full back as per the last game at Celtic Park and hope for their tallest player to head the ball on or try to win free kicks in that area ,they will also waste and stop play at every opportunity to try and stay in the game for as long as they can and hope to have have a go in the 15/20 mins.

The article you copy and pasted quoted David Hume to support the argument that England had a history of anti Irish bigotry.

Why quote a Scotsman to support that argument?

And what relevance did that article have to the question of what it is about Scotland that allows public officials like Wood to behave in the way he did and escape without sanction?

Were you trying to deflect attention away from something you find difficult to accept about Scottish society?

Good luck to the Celts today at Hampden and Airdrie. Hampden for me today. Expecting to enjoy a straight forward semi-final win in 90 mins. Calum will drive us through to the final, I’m sure.
