CQN Open, Intensity required

CQN Golf Open 2016

The 12th annual CQN Open Golf Day will take place at Aberdour Golf Club in Fife on Friday 29 July. Our annual trip to Aberdour is always a fantastic day. Those who play golf (not me) enjoy the stunning Fife course, while we all participate in an evening’s entertainment and chat.

The day is always fully subscribed, so if you want to attend, please email Taggsybhoy at cqnopen2016@gmx.co.uk . Cost for the full day’s golf and evening meal is £80. There are a limited number of dinner and evening-only places available at a cost of £45.

We’ve raised tens of thousands of pounds for good causes far and wide over the previous 11 events, and enjoyed some great times. See you there.

Aberdeen’s visit to Fir Park on Saturday looked like a stiff test on paper before news broke that the Motherwell squad has been devastated by a virus, which has forced the club to cancel training this week. There’s little Celtic can do about that short of extending their lead to four points earlier tomorrow afternoon with their visit to Rugby Park.

Kilmarnock are marooned in the play-off position: 8 points from bottom, and five from Inverness and Hamilton above them. They’ve scored only once in their last four home games but have the curious claim to be unbeaten by Celtic this season.

We looked sloppy on our first trip to Rugby Park in the autumn and impotent when we faced them at Celtic Park. Kilmarnock would perhaps suggest they simply figured out how to frustrate us. They’re not alone with that belief.

I was concerned about last week’s game against Thistle and Kilmarnock tomorrow. Our next outing, in two weeks against Hearts, will take care of itself, the adrenaline will pump for that one, but we need to create our own intensity away to teams in the bottom half of the table.

We didn’t turn in a classic performance last week but, straight from the off, it was clear we were sharper than at any point since thumping Hamilton two months ago. A focus returned to the squad (as did a Commons and a Bitton). With the large uptake of tickets by Celtic fans I expect our edge to be evident from the start.

  1. I’d imagine it’ll be 4-3-3 like the last two games with CKR and Commons either side of Griffiths.

Mrs Rc likes what you called me :)

They do appear to have an ill educated view on what sectarianism is but the freedom to march, provoke and annoy will be allowed aplenty in the months ahead.

    Agreed.

I said a while back that if the same bhoys met regularly in a big pub or even works canteen … you would soon break into little groups of folk with similar views but often disagree on some points. Maybe flit into other groups at times and sometimes a total group discussion.

Using that theme I scroll past a good few … read most others posts. .. tend to ignore anything more than a single paragraph … and generally like a good laugh aa opposed to deep serious debate.

At the end of the day the only opinion that really matters to me is my own … everyone else is entitled to theirs too of course as long as theyou don’t get offensive

BTW folks. . I doubt I will see the day when the neanderthal orange Bassas are banned from their ” parades “

Packed bus, couple having to sit on floor. £20 a ticket got thums up from all the guys.

On the seat issue when doing recruitment drive recently a few fans mentioned this as being a major issue for them as they had sat in same seat since new stadia was built and Celtic couldn’t guarantee they would be able to reseat them next to other family members

  6. I would have thought Roberts for GMS would have been the obvious move – but why pick a 12 m wonder kid with bags of pace and ability that will excite us when u can play CKR!! Zero pace and width in that team.

  7. Perhaps sometimes we have to play the long game in the knowledge that we Celts (and many from other deprived nations who support us) have never lay down to our attackers. In 1828 a member of my family lost his land in Donegal, not because he had not paid his rent, but because Arthur Chichester wanted the land to build a house for his daughter. Today the Chichesters are gone from there and five of my cousins bought and built homes on the land that was stolen from us. We never gave in and so should all of us faced by so much corruption around us.

With that as only part of my Celtic background, you can understand that despite action I have taken against the OBAct and letters to the Board with no positive outcome, I am still a Celtic supporter and always will be.

Do the business at Kilmarnock today, bhoys, and good luck to all who are travelling to be there.

That team should be far too strong for Killie.

    3-0 Richards, Griffiths, Commons.

  10. Thought Roberts would have started today.

Could understand that surface at Firhill was not suited, but id say a synthetic surface like Killies would be made for guys like him.

  11. was nobody else excited a few weeks back when Roberts Allan Christie were the ‘three in behind’ ? Looks like Ronny is too focused on the Dinamo Govan game and getting the experienced guys up to speed.

  12. Bench very strong and made to change the game if needed.

Sensible switches could see us run them ragged if they become tired.

Not sure about JF, if he is for the off. as this might be sending the wrong message to fringe players.

Anyway looking forward to giving Killie a doin’ the day.

  13. Will it be 4-3-3 again today?

The team v Thistle seemed a 4-2-1-3 set-up, with Mcgregor the more advanced of the midfielders. Could very well be the same today, with Commons and Kazim-Richards either side of Griffiths.

It didn’t exactly convince, particularly in how Brown and Bitton played, although both have an excuse for being a bit rusty.

The alternative would be a straight 4-4-2 with Commons and McGregor either flank, but while this may happen late in the game, I doubt Ronny would want them to start this way.

  14. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

So we’ve dropped the MotM for the last two games, is the tinker man at it again or is GMS injured ?

  15. He has a nuisance value up front – but wide left ? Not sure why the reluctance to unleash Roberts

  16. If Scott Allan is fit he must be thinking WTF. Any time he got on the pitch he did OK, yet can’t make the bench. Likewise Christie.

Obviously Ronny has decided to go with the Old Guard for the run in.

No mistakes today Bhoys, it’s a long fortnight to the next game, it would be torture to endure if we don’t claim the 3 points today. My big focus will be on the form of Brooney. If he has another poor game, I’ll travel over myself and shave his effing head.

  17. Not convinced with the selection of Commons or Richards.

Looks like experience but neither have done anything this season.

Neither seem to suit Ronny’s system.

The up tempo game has been put on hold.

    Hopefully i’m wrong.

  18. Tanner driving his wee Fiat Agenda especially designed for him with extra bitterness and unfulfilled fantasies about his wee team somehow lording it over us..

Can`t say the team selection fills me with confidence but I seldom am before games anyway. Is Rugby Park quite a tight pitch hence the absence of wingers?

  20. Tom Rogic’s goal is on track to be the most watched goal on the Timternet since that one motherwell scored last season against Sevco where Bell punched the ball into his net.
