CQN Golf Open 2016

The 12th annual CQN Open Golf Day will take place at Aberdour Golf Club in Fife on Friday 29 July. Our annual trip to Aberdour is always a fantastic day. Those who play golf (not me) enjoy the stunning Fife course, while we all participate in an evening’s entertainment and chat.

The day is always fully subscribed, so if you want to attend, please email Taggsybhoy at cqnopen2016@gmx.co.uk . Cost for the full day’s golf and evening meal is £80. There are a limited number of dinner and evening-only places available at a cost of £45.

We’ve raised tens of thousands of pounds for good causes far and wide over the previous 11 events, and enjoyed some great times. See you there.

Aberdeen’s visit to Fir Park on Saturday looked like a stiff test on paper before news broke that the Motherwell squad has been devastated by a virus, which has forced the club to cancel training this week. There’s little Celtic can do about that short of extending their lead to four points earlier tomorrow afternoon with their visit to Rugby Park.

Kilmarnock are marooned in the play-off position: 8 points from bottom, and five from Inverness and Hamilton above them. They’ve scored only once in their last four home games but have the curious claim to be unbeaten by Celtic this season.

We looked sloppy on our first trip to Rugby Park in the autumn and impotent when we faced them at Celtic Park. Kilmarnock would perhaps suggest they simply figured out how to frustrate us. They’re not alone with that belief.

I was concerned about last week’s game against Thistle and Kilmarnock tomorrow. Our next outing, in two weeks against Hearts, will take care of itself, the adrenaline will pump for that one, but we need to create our own intensity away to teams in the bottom half of the table.

We didn’t turn in a classic performance last week but, straight from the off, it was clear we were sharper than at any point since thumping Hamilton two months ago. A focus returned to the squad (as did a Commons and a Bitton). With the large uptake of tickets by Celtic fans I expect our edge to be evident from the start.

  1. RUGGYMAN:

I agree with almost all of your post. We should press them from the off and not be slow out the traps as we often are. I wouldn’t play Armstrong on the left in this game. Taverner constantly gives Sevco an out all on the right, leaving a huge hole at the back for a team that breaks quickly. I know, I know…… we aren’t great at that. We need someone like AMS or Forrest to occupy him so much, he will stay back.

One other thing mildly concerns me. The last time we played St.Johnstone, O’Halloran was going by Simunovic as if he wasn’t there, and Eric is not exactly quick either. Although I hesitate again, we may need the quickness of Boyata or even Efe.

If we do our homework, and even with a MIB like Thompson “managing” the game (remember his ludicrous no advantage decision last time when Griffiths was through on his own?), we can grub this mob.

If you give up, think of who are the winners!

There is a lot of anger just now, especially against our board!

    Of which I am one.

The answer… Who knows, thems have got away with murder literally…the bloke that stumbled down the marble staircase.

    The negligence with their stadium!

    The list can go on.

I might moan as we all do at times but Celtic is not only a team, it’s what we are…my daughter is at a do tonight texting me who Paul mc Stay is, she is too young to know. That is Celtic…a family that look after people regardless of colour and race, religion…that’s what makes us different and valued across the globe…. HH

I really don’t want to give it up, but FFS, when our custodians have givin it up what choice do I really have.

It’s only about the money, how sad is that.

I will post, CQN is part of me, Celtic always will be part of me but the Celtic I knew, or thought I knew is not there any more, in a strange sort of way, if we did get the ef out of scotland, we would be competing with the big boys and that is what I would want more than anything, to get away from the bigotry and hatred,, it wouldn’t be the Celtic that I was brought up with, but it would be better than the Celtic who are willing to condone the cheating and the corruption, anything would be better than what we are presently imo, it tears me apart to see what the suits are doing to our club.

Any chance of another Celts for Change ?

I doubt it, the apathy has taken hold.

  4. Sips

    I am torn, seriously torn.

I see intelligent posters telling us that they will contribute to the sham, wtf is that all about ?

Things have to change or Neg is right, we will die, there is no question about that, we will be the ones who die.

All I have ever wanted is a level playing field, it’s 2016 and we are still dreaming of one FFS, 2016 and we are still dreaming of a level playing field, just let that sink in, the club don’t give a feck, they only want our money.

  5. A Ceiler Gonof Rust on

Winning Captains, I’m surprised I saw no response to your Tommy Gemmel post. I pass Dunblane every home game trip and although I don’t fall into the “older poster” category you asked for I would be very happy to stop in on the way down or back and visit a Celtic legend (or take Tommy to paradise).

Jungle Jim is with me in the ACGR mobile and he’s a auld bastart so he would be able to front up our visits:_)

The only issue is I think the old Legend could be a bad influence on me.

I admire your heart and your love for our lion.

    You have my addy.

It’s not going to change mate the club just want it to go back to the way it was remember Peter telling us it was costing Celtic 10 million a year.

The SFA and Celtic are banking on fans not turning their backs on the clubs. And I hate to say it they will be proved right . Celtic and the SFA are two cheeks of the same arse. But make no mistake we the support and the board are giving them the green light to carry on their cheating ways because we don’t have the balls to stop it.

  7. 16 roads - Celtic über alles... on

    I agree with Sipsini.

Magnanimous in defeat, humble in victory.

That is what the Celtic Football Club is all about.

See those Tommy Burns teams – Second to the dope addicts, but sure… It seemed like victories at the time, because they played pure, magnificent football.

    Best memories ever.

    There’s only one Jorge Cadety…

    Some songs as well.

    Powerful Celtic, absolutely incredible.

    KTF.

  8. Hamiltontim. There is absolutely no satisfaction in me being right.

In fact it’s a sign of my ineptitude that for all my arguments it’s equated to diddly squat.

My comfort is in the growing realism that it’s time to move on. That’s doesn’t mean I am happy, it’s just where I have got to.

I guess we have all got pretty tough decisions to make.

I would gladly join protests etc but it seems to me that we have lost that edge.

  9. Saint Stivs says SACK THE BOARD on

evening all, i know it doesnt make me popular on here, but.

i absolutely detest golf’s history and its not a sport.

    a discriminatory membership scheme beyond ibrox;s .

but if there are many tims want to do it and raise money then fill your boots.

how many of your dads were allowed to join up before you ?

    anyways.

    keep it lit.

    waste of a good walk.

  10. timhorton…

Cheers mate, I find it hard reading the negativity on here and to be honest I’m guilty of it.

As some of the older heads on here say bear with it.

There is blokes on here that went through the barren fifties and early sixties…who am I to moan.

I’ve sat and deliberated on where we are…as rocky said.. It’s not too bad ;)

I think, the major underlying problem is an Orc team chapping our door and we should be more prepared for it. The scaremongering from the hun press is working, we should rise above it.HH

  11. TET, the huns box office, WTF

Think you might need to tell yer Arsenal contact that £2.5m a year to Scottish Fitba – as a whole – does not mean box office.

    FTSFA & SKY

  12. Saint Stivs…

How many of our fathers couldn’t get a trade?

We smashed that door down, as the bhoys in the golf are doing. HH

  13. Saint Stivs says SACK THE BOARD on

    sips,

i wont enter into any discussions on golf clubs excluding catholic members for years , and how its ok now cos the tims are “in the club”, in the club.

i have a bowls match tomorrow morning, and i cant be distracted with such irrelevances.

Melbourne Mick and AngelGabriel – Inspirational as per always.

My own wee brother said I was delusional when Celtic are concerned – but here, pity poor Killie the mara.

That is all that I have to say.

    Minus 3 goals the Celtic.

    Incredible.

Petec – Said before – can’t be annoyed with that David Moyes, Brendan Rodgers speculation.

    Even Lenny.

    No interest.

It would be best for everyone if Ronny wins the league and the cup.

    Ronny is our Manager.

He is getting McGregor more influential, not because of the Drink thing but because he Supported him when he needed to be Supported.

I think the older dudes, and all I can ever do is read between the lines as I know nothing, took liberties when Ronny was bringing a totally unique and new approach to Everything that had Hard work underpinning everything – Getting the players to really push themselves as much as possible. Never forget he stressed so much about Rest as well.

It is all about the Youngsters coming through, really, Our own Home Schooled players. It is the Only way. ;))

The Ross County Manager knows where to go to get the best players when they don’t make it at Celtic, I’m sure everyone does. ;))

Tommy Burns – Legend and his influence will go on for a lot longer.

  19. It’s increasingly sad to me that more and mor fantastic Celtic fans are willing to accept their place at the back of the bus.

Perhaps the end happenned and I missed it.

And yet I have been looking out for it.

Perhaps you can do so,e yourself for a while.

  21. BOURNESOUPRECIPE@9:52 – Quite novel to see both Ronny and Johnny at a Sevco match – however their mission may have been two-fold.

I posted a week or so ago that a Celtic scout had attended nearly all of Falkirk’s games, and wondered who was being watched – maybe our management team decided to ‘kill two birds” – well at the end one was certainly a goner.
