CQN Golf Open 2016

The 12th annual CQN Open Golf Day will take place at Aberdour Golf Club in Fife on Friday 29 July. Our annual trip to Aberdour is always a fantastic day. Those who play golf (not me) enjoy the stunning Fife course, while we all participate in an evening’s entertainment and chat.

The day is always fully subscribed, so if you want to attend, please email Taggsybhoy at cqnopen2016@gmx.co.uk . Cost for the full day’s golf and evening meal is £80. There are a limited number of dinner and evening-only places available at a cost of £45.

We’ve raised tens of thousands of pounds for good causes far and wide over the previous 11 events, and enjoyed some great times. See you there.

Aberdeen’s visit to Fir Park on Saturday looked like a stiff test on paper before news broke that the Motherwell squad has been devastated by a virus, which has forced the club to cancel training this week. There’s little Celtic can do about that short of extending their lead to four points earlier tomorrow afternoon with their visit to Rugby Park.

Kilmarnock are marooned in the play-off position: 8 points from bottom, and five from Inverness and Hamilton above them. They’ve scored only once in their last four home games but have the curious claim to be unbeaten by Celtic this season.

We looked sloppy on our first trip to Rugby Park in the autumn and impotent when we faced them at Celtic Park. Kilmarnock would perhaps suggest they simply figured out how to frustrate us. They’re not alone with that belief.

I was concerned about last week’s game against Thistle and Kilmarnock tomorrow. Our next outing, in two weeks against Hearts, will take care of itself, the adrenaline will pump for that one, but we need to create our own intensity away to teams in the bottom half of the table.

We didn’t turn in a classic performance last week but, straight from the off, it was clear we were sharper than at any point since thumping Hamilton two months ago. A focus returned to the squad (as did a Commons and a Bitton). With the large uptake of tickets by Celtic fans I expect our edge to be evident from the start.

  2. *what a great way tae start Palm Sunday weekend and Holy week, over to you Celtic.

On another note was watching the late news last night and all stations Canada and the US were covering St Patrick’s Day festivities.

One announcer said that the CN Tower in TO was lit up in green as were the Great Wall of China, the Leaning Tower of Pisa (that is until WC toppled it lol), the Christ the Redeemer statue over Rio, the Sydney Opera House and the White House.

I made my point earlier. I don’t think that many will walk away because of the cheating.

Remove the board? Yep I’m all for that.

The fans that go home and away aren’t supporting any board……as Corkcelt and yourself have stated, Celtic fans support Celtic…..Celtic boards and directors will never last longer than the fans

  8. I’ve spoke to a lot of match going fans over the years and the first conversation I had about RES 12 was with Winning Captains last Saturday.

I know about it. I back it. The SFA need exposed. Yes.

But the average punter on the street doesn’t know about it. We all slate and ignore the msm but until this gets into the msm then it seems it will largely go un-noticed.

    That’s a crime.

Killie tomorrow. Back the team. We have a league to win.

Twentys plenty banners will be in the ground.

I love listening to people saying how we’re such a special club because of the founding ethos who then point out how we became a business only a few years after our creation.

You’re absolutely correct. When they’re all gone, we’ll remain.

Magic to hear you are joining us next week. You will love my son Ryan. He is a genius like you. Any chance you could sort a gift like you did in Belfast?

I agree turning your back on Celtic isn’t the answer.

The board however have turned their backs on the Celtic fans.

We’re now asked to accept being cheated out of entry to the Champions League.

We will also be asked to forget about 20 trophies won fraudulently.

  13. Good Evening CQN.

May I share some good news.

    Not Thems getting gubbed.

This week my Mrs read a book. For the first time in nearly 2 years.

While I was in Cheltenham , watching the first days of the best racing festival on earth, my wonderful wife climbed a personal mountain.

Yesterday , rather than head for home after watching the racing in my regular boozer(flight times arrangements were perfect) I stayed on till late enjoying good company & a pub fully decked in appropriate colours filled with nice folk enjoying tunes familiar to us all.

This morning was about reconciliation, apologies & excuses. All heard b4.

Then she smiled & told me.

    She read a book.

Thankfully her condition is not life threatening just a game changer.

My Dame as I affectionately call her , has been the victim of some obscure neurological problem. 10 years younger, she is now unable to walk the dog she used to walk for 5 miles.

No more cycling. Disabled and nowrequires walking aides. Cognitive skills have also taken a serious kicking. She used to read a book every week.

This week she climbed a mountain.

Currently she is still in the pub celebrating a birthday with friends. She will be late home. Guaranteed.

The party animal is fighting back.

Anyone on here that works or has friends or family that work in the NHS can you please pass on my gratitude.

    They are the superstars.

Good night CQN. I luv ye.

Enough was when PL gave a direct instruction for the club not to support and promote a food drive to feed the hungry in Glasgow.

I could post dozens of ‘enoughs’ but that’s really not really the point. I don’t know what we do.

As a young bhoy Johny Divers was my fav. as slow as a week in

jail but i loved him, and just like Paul McStay i think of Henke,

Lubo, and many others in the lions team but only if the lions had

injuries lol. Easter weekend i get to meet the legend Willie Wallace

  17. Saw the Sevco game on Fox in the U.S. The finish got me put of my seat, and my “YES!!!!!!” frightened the neighbors. Hope Ronnie stayed until the end. I’m glad he was there, because he probably learned a few things, such as:

They start off well, at pace, and passing quickly.

Both full backs push up to the byline. The right back, Taverner, is a threat with direct free kicks, so no fouls near the box is a must!

The right back is much poorer defensively than Wallace. Kieran is poor in the air. Three of the four back players panic when put under sustained pressure.

I think the semi will be an occasion for Ronie’s pressing game. I am hesitant to suggest it, but it might be a day for Johansen,, if he is fit.

If Taverner is attacked at speed, he is in trouble. Might be the task for Mackay Stevens or Forrest?

Above all, we MUST be disciplined, and give the MIB no opportunities to flash the cards. When we have a corner, we must avoid jostling if possible, because it wil merely attract a whistle for a foul.

Griffiths must stay a yard on at all times, because if he is exactly in line, he will be deemed offside.

Collins should be drumming all this basic stuff into the players, because I don’t think Ronnie fully appreciates yet the extent of the cheating that will occur to get the cheats into the Europa next season.

Lying and cheating and corruption it seems are a ok.

    Wow eh.

    Wow.

  20. I posted earlier that I put a five spot on Falkirk, I actually asked by son to do it as there was a free £20 bet with it as I I’m not a punter, so..I switched the game over as the huns were winning 2-0 and thought feck it.

My phone was on charge, so had no idea of the score, checked my texts… Ya jammy bassa.

Phoned my son… Dad I split your bet only ninety back, put a tenner on Falkirk to win 2-1… Arghhh

  21. Hamiltontim

After much soul searching this week I have decided to renew my tickets for next season .

My reason for doing so is my son Aiden who is Celtic daft. Everyday he asks me about the games I went to when I was younger and I tell him about the centenary year a magical year for a magical club.

In short I don’t want to deny him the special memories I had as a kid growing up watching the famous Glasgow Celtic.

  22. Iniquitousiv

    you make some interesting observations.

You are exactly right about sevco. They start games at a quick tempo.. put their opponents on the back foot. Dundee never recovered from losing an early goal. However Falkirk tonight, as well as many teams this season, have demonstrated that as they settle in to a game, the huns become less than mediocre.

You are also correct regards Johansen… there will be those that shout for Commons inclusion (hugh keevins).. but i’d go McGregor on the right, GMS or Armstrong on the left, and Johansen pressing them high behind Griffiths.

The rest will take care of its self. they have below average players at the back trying to play football. Its suicide stuff, and if we pitch up correctly on the day, I genuinely believe there is 4,5, or 6 goals to be had against that mob…. trust me

  23. DD,

    No bother, a pleasure.

I’ll get back to the e mails re the Walking Tour tomorrow. I couldn’t get hold of the gent who has offered to do it today. I’ve a notion that he might have been busy with Moore Street case.

We had quite a few very appreciative e mails today too.

I’ll reply to them over the weekend.
