CSA will not be alone in boycott call

982

Celtic Quick News fully supports the decision by the Supporters’ Association Executive Committee to ask an Emergency Delegates Meeting to vote on whether to selectively boycott clubs which vote for a Newco to be admitted directly into the SPL next season.

We discussed the idea of a boycott on this basis towards the end of last season.  It appears the only appropriate action if our ‘sport’ can be subjugated for financial ends.

I am sure Celtic fans will not be the only ones considering a boycott.  If Newco gains access to the SPL next season there is likely to be a schism between supporters of clubs who opposed the move and those clubs who vote for Newco, despite the wishes of their own supporters.

Kilmarnock might be able to look forward to lower costs for stewarding and turnstile operators, from their own support as well as others.  Still, they would be able to open more than one stand when Newco visit.

What a great five days Walter Smith had.  His attempts to buy assets from Rangers administrators failed, sigh, but he managed to undermine the guys trying to sell tickets to Ibrox next season, so it wasn’t a complete waste of time.  Legned.

After the peepul are told chuck is the only show in town, cue scare stories about tax-evading scoundrels trying to buy the menace (oh, and one’s a tim – just in case they don’t get the message).

Stand by for ’In Chuck we trust’.

Hope the documentation the SPL are awaiting for in support of their job application (which needs to be verified) includes as a minimum:

    1. Who the backers are (for the ole fit’n’proper malarky)

    2. Documentary evidence that chuck has completed the purchase of the carcass.

    3. Documentary evidence that he is the owner of a football stadium.

    4. Documentary evidence that he has football players on contract in the new entity.

    5. Documentary evidence that he has enough finance to complete the fixture list.

Without any of these, as chuck would admit no doubt, it’s a complete no-no (from a business perspective, obviously)

The 2 that stick most in my head are ‘bigger & better bombs’ as a solution to the world’s over-population,.. & those who can’t be successful in life’s rat race ‘ doing us all a favour,& ending their own miserable existences’.

This nasty individual tells us to not concern ourselves with what happens to our neighbour, but to only care about getting anything that is going for YOURSELF.

Strangely enough, he also claims to be a Catholic, which I always thought was a follower of the teaching of Christ…Yes, that same Christ who told us to look after our neighbour.

I know that I should ignore him, but I have to admit that his fawning & crawling attention-seeking gets the better of my best intentions.

    Blantyretim,

No problem, i have been coaching Youth Football for 20 years now, and while the information i have given is definately from the SYFA guidelines, it is worth checking your own league. Regarding trialists, you are allowed to play a maximum of 4 trialists in any game, but each can only play a maximum of 4 games (again, check with your League). This does not include the Regional or Scottish Cups, where trialists are definately NOT allowed.

If you need any more infor or help, feel free to let me know as teh rules can be a bit of a minefield

Ticketus voted in favour anyway. I don’t get this. They seem to think that Whyte and RFC (IA) have joint and several liability for the sums due to them. In that case, they should be going hsmmer and tongs against both and not soft peddling on the ex-Huns.

So – people at the lower end of the financial spectum who cannot afford to pay to go to football, and indeed may struggle to feed and clothe their children, by your definition cannot be as good supporters of Celtic as the children of rich parents for whom a No.7 Season Ticket is small change?

Silly point – and the opposite of the ethos on which Celtic is founded. Probably said in the heat of the moment, but daft nevertheless.

Just seemed quite a coincidence that the HMRC figure came to 76%, depriving all other creditors a veto.

If HMRC had voted for and Ticketus against, then the way the 76% figure had been derived may well have come under scrutiny.

that Morton game took place on the Monday following the 4-0 Scottish Cup Final defeat of Rangers (1873 – 2012) in 1969.

I was at the game and it was the most remarkable start of a match that I can recall.

The Celtic team strode out to the centre of the pitch where a table decked in green and white bunting displayed the League trophy and the Scottish and League cups.

    The treble no less.

However after just 4 minutes, Per Bartram, Morton’s Danish forward, scored. A minute later he made it 2-0 and in the following minute Willie Wallace reduced the deficit.

Just four mintes later, Bartram completed his hat-trick and made it 3-1 to Morton after only 10 minutes.

Three minutes into the second half, referee Pringle judged Joe Harper’s header as having crossed the line and Celtic were 4-1 down.

Harry Hood scored Celtic’s secong goal in 64 minutes but there was to be no

    further scoring.

Incidentally Celtic wore the hoops and Morton wore white shirts, blue shorts and orange socks.

On the same evening Rangers played Dundee at Ibrox .

In side by side photographs the Daily Express captured the mood of both clubs.

    “31000 – Celtic’s triple trophy winners take a bow”.

“6400 – The aftermath of Rangers (1873 – 2012) cup final defeat on Saturday”.

The photograph shows a father and son, alone on the terracing, watching the game. The score was 1-1.

The teams had played the week before at Dens Park, also in the league, and there attendance was 7000. Dundee won that game 3-2.

Murray for the BarL – Rangers for the SFL!

On the specific point of HMRC’s percentage, it would suggest that they were trying to get the CVA through. HMRC and Ticketus were both thought to have over 25%, and therefore a veto, the jump in HMRC’s percentage so that they alone could veto made the CVA more likely to get through.

    Big Georges Fan Club

Without supporters there is no club to be a fan of. That is a self evident truth.

The issue is one of not having sufficient means to make fans who are not supporters, supporters according to their means.

It is up to Celtic to provide that means and one such way is via the Membership Scheme, that current events have held in abeyance, drawing on the very ethos Big George describes.

It is my view over the past few years that in GENERAL terms (I know overseas supporters find their own ways to support) non match attendees, wherever they are, who view on line or TV, can and would contribute more to the cost of supporting Celtic if the means to do so existed and the concept that we are all one as a support was part of our psyche rather than the sterile separatist thinking that drives this current debate.

I will be abroad for the major part of next season and cannot afford both a concessionary SB and the Overseas Celtic TV subscription, but I could afford the concessionary SB book as a pensioner. The proposal I will put to Celtic is that as an Overseas Ambassador of Celtic (we all are btw) I pay the SB price I would normally pay and the balance goes into a fund (like the Kano project) so that if enough subscribers home or overseas sign up to Celtic TV, for say every 8 subscriber on concessionary prices we put either two bums on seats at concessionary rates or one bum on a seat at full SB rates.

Variations on the theme to allow all Celtic TV subscribers to put a bum (and I do not mean a tramp ;) ) on a seat at CP can be devised, but it is the underlying concept of spreading the load of supporting Celtic in financial terms according to the Celtic match watchers means of watching that is key.

    Feedback welcome.

Probably best to google ‘system restore’.

While you’re at the googling you might want to check if your email provider has some sort of support forum. It’s unlikely you’ll be the first to have encountered the problem.

Or you could wait til a techie appears on here.

  28. Philbhoy,

Go into your windows help, in the search bit type in “system restore” it should then show you options how to restore your settings. Set the restore point to a date before you noticed the issue arising.

    It’s worked for me before.
